AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
†
Eternal God, in your providence you made all ages a preparation for the kingdom of your Son. Make ready our hearts for the brightness of your glory and the fullness of your blessing in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. #206 I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light — HOUSTON We are not alone, we live in God’s world. We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God. We are called to be the church: to celebrate God’s presence, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God. Amen.
LIGHTING OF ADVENT WREATH PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE THE LORD'S PRAYER
†
Please stand as you are able.
After each prayer, the leader may conclude: Lord, in your mercy. All may respond: Hear our prayer. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

GOD'S WORD PROCLAIMED SCRIPTURE
Zephaniah 3:14-20
Sing aloud, O daughter Zion; shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, O daughter Jerusalem! The Lord has taken away the judgments against you, he has turned away your enemies. The king of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; you shall fear disaster no more. On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: Do not fear, O Zion; do not let your hands grow weak. The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing as on a day of festival. I will remove disaster from you, so that you will not bear reproach for it. I will deal with all your oppressors at that time. And I will save the lame and gather the outcast, and I will change their shame into praise and renown in all the earth. At that time I will bring you home, at the time when I gather you; for I will make you renowned and praised among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the Lord. (NRSV) This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

Almighty and most merciful God, from you comes every good and perfect gift. We give you praise and thanks for all your mercies. Your goodness has created us, your bounty has sustained us, your discipline has chastened us, your patience has borne with us, your love has redeemed us. Give us a heart to love and serve you, and enable us to show our thankfulness for all your goodness and mercy by giving up ourselves to your service, and cheerfully submitting in all things to your blessed will; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY IMPROMPTU PAGEANT Families are invited to our impromptu pageant at 10am (during Sunday School) on December 19. Bring hats, scarves, or mittens for our Tree of Warmth which will support kids at Brunson Elementary to keep them warm in the new year. There will be no elementary Sunday School on December 19, we hope you’ll join us for the impromptu pageant instead. PRESCHOOL PAJAMA PARTY Preschoolers (infants - preK) and their grown-ups are invited to join us for an age-appropriate Christmas pajama party including telling the Christmas story and music! We’ll kick off Christmas Eve with a pajama party at 10am on Dec 24. Don't forget to wear your pajamas! CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS EVE WORSHIP Friday • December 24 • 4pm • Sanctuary On Christmas Eve at 4 pm in the sanctuary we celebrate Christmas with our children in mind. This service which lasts approximately 45 minutes is filled with music and movement and tells the Christmas story in a way that connects with children of all ages. We do not offer nursery during this service but children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend. This year we will be asking that everyone kindergarten age and older wear masks so that we can make sure to do what we can to keep healthy those who are not yet able to be vaccinated or not yet fully vaccinated.
