Lift High the Cross — arr. Joel Raney
†OPENING PRAYER
Almighty Father, you have given your only Son to die for our sins and to rise again for our justification. Grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness that we may always serve you in the pureness of living truth, through the merits of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
†HYMN OF PROCESSION
#312 Hail the Day that Sees Him Rise
†AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
— LLANFAIR
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is the one true church, apostolic and universal, whose holy faith let us now declare:
We believe in God the Father, infinite in wisdom, power, and love, whose mercy is over all his works, and whose will is ever directed to his children’s good. We believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of man, the gift of the Father’s unfailing grace, the ground of our hope, and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death. We believe in the Holy Spirit as the divine presence in our lives, whereby we are kept in perpetual remembrance of the truth of Christ, and find strength and help in time of need. We believe that this faith should manifest itself in the service of love as set forth in the example of our blessed Lord, to the end that the kingdom of God may come upon the earth. Amen.
CANTICLE
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
(Children, kindergartners through third grade, are invited to exit the Sanctuary for Children’s Worship. Children will return to reserved pews in the Sanctuary at the close of worship.)
WE HEAR THE WORD PROCLAIMED
To the Lamb on the Throne — Dan Forrest Worthy the lamb. Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim, and publish abroad His wonderful name; the name all victorious of Jesus extol; HIs kindgom is glorious and rules over all. “Salvation to God, who sits on the throne,” let all cry aloud, and honor the Son; the praises of Jesus the angels proclaim, fall down on their faces and worship the Lamb. God rules in the height, almighty to save; though hid from our sight, His presence we have, the great congregation His triumph shall sing, ascribing salvation to Jesus our King.
The congregation is invited to sing: Then let us adore and give Him His right, all glory and power, all wisdom and might; all honor and blessing with angels above, and thanks never ceasing and infinite love.
SCRIPTURE — Galatians 1:13-16, 23-24
This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.
SERMON — “A Grace Which Transforms”
WE RENEW OUR COMMITMENT
OFFERTORY Ring for Joy — Brian Childers
†DOXOLOGY #95 Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow — OLD 100th Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below; praise God above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
†PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
All things come from you, O God, and with gratitude we return to you what is yours. You created all that is, and with love formed us in your image. When our love failed, your love remained steadfast. You gave your only Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior. All that we are, and all that we have, is a trust from you. And so, in gratitude for all your gifts, we offer you ourselves, and all that we have, in union with Christ’s offering for us. By your Holy Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
WE GO AS GOD’S PEOPLE INTO THE WORLD
