AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

GLORIA PATRI

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE THE LORD'S PRAYER

Surely the Presence — SURELY THE PRESENCE With all our heart, we take refuge in God most high, who created all things, the merciful Father, Source of all goodness. With all our heart, we take refuge in Christ, the Redeemer from sin, who restores our true nature, the perfect and mysterious Word. With all our heart, we take refuge in the One who embraces the universe, who at all times and in all places responds to our needs, the pure and tranquil Holy Spirit. #368 My Hope is Built — THE SOLID ROCK #881 The Apostles' Creed #71 Glory Be to the Father — GREATOREX After each prayer, the leader may conclude: Lord, in your mercy. All may respond: Hear our prayer. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

(Children, kindergartners through third grade, are invited to exit the Sanctuary for Children’s Worship. Children will return to reserved pews in the Sanctuary at the close of worship.)

Please stand as you are able.

My God Is a Rock — arr. A. Parker and R. Shaw My God is a rock in a weary land, weary land, weary land. My God is a rock in a weary land, shelter in a time of storm. Matthew 5:3-12 (pew Bible New Testament page 4) This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

Children of the Heavenly Father — arr. David S. Kirby Children of the heavenly Father gently in His bosom gather, nestling bird nor star in heaven such a refuge e'er was given. Neither life nor death shall ever from the Lord His children sever, unto them His grace He showeth, and their sorrows all He knoweth.
