Thank you for your interest in holding your next function at the Tav. Our venue offers different function areas which can be hired out individually or as a whole.
Room and Venue Hire
This package is to assist in providing all the information you need to host a successful event at the Tav.
If your function is going to occur during normal trading hours, and the Tav can remain open to the public within the other areas, there will be no cost to hire a section of the Tav.

The Tavern is a very flexible venue able to cater for a large variety of functions. There are two options available for your next function; Within normal operating hours and Exclusive/ Outside of normal operating hours.
Functions within normal operating hours
Exclusive/ Outside normal operating hours If you wish to hire the Tav outside of normal operating hours the cost is $200 All function bookings outside of normal operating hours will require a valid Curtin University ID when making the booking. Price includes security if deemed required and post event cleaning. It is the hirer’s responsibility to remove all decorations etc at the conclusion of the event. Streamers and tape on the painted walls are not permitted. Please see back page for terms and conditions.
Please contact us for operating hours outside of semester which is generally 10am until 4pm. The Tav is also available for hire outside the operating hours above. As per conditions of the Liquor Control Act we are authorised to sell liquor to Curtin University students, staff and visitors to Curtin University.

Areas for Hire
The following is a guide to work out where to hold your function within the Tav. Please note furniture can be moved to cater for your function; this is not possible in the Bistro between 112.30pm weekdays. Sections can be roped off or reserved for your exclusive use.

Beverages Full bar service will be available during your function. There are a few different options when providing beverages for your next function and below are some options:
Drink Specials The following drink specials are available for the first two (2) hours of functions with 30 guests or more. Minimum food orders (totalling $90) apply.
• Guests purchase their own beverages from the bar. • You can choose to set up a bar tab for a predetermined amount. You have the ability to restrict what drink purchases are available to your guests on the tab. We will inform you when you are nearing your limit, and again when your limit is reached. • You may elect to pay for 50% of the price of your guests’ drinks on consumption.

Function Food The Tav can supply your function with a wide selection of food from the menus below or tailor something to your requirements.
Platter Menu Our platter menu allows you to provide your guests with a selection of tasty morsels. We are unable to provide a delivery service, although you are welcome to order platters for pick up if your function is outside the Tav. Platters serve 10 people as a light snack. Sate Chicken Platter Marinated chicken skewers with sate dipping sauce.
Gourmet Pies Platter A selection of mini gourmet pies served with tomato sauce (vegetarian included, completely vegetarian available upon request).

Sit Down Dinners Sit down dinner menus can be arranged upon request and tailored to suit your function and budget. Cloth linen is also available for hire to add the finishing touch to your function. Prices are available upon request.

Terms and Conditions Bookings

You can make your function booking by emailing tavmanager@guild.curtin. edu.au In order to make the process as smooth as possible please include the following information:

Cancellations more than 10 working days before the function will incur no cost.
• Function type
Cancellations between 5 and 10 working days before the function will incur 50% of the costs associated with the confirmed function.
• Time of your function (start-finish) • Area you request • How many people you expect • Beverage requirements
Cancellations within 5 working days of the confirmed function will be charged all costs associated with the booking.
General •
Curtin University is a smoke free campus. Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the Tav.

No food or drinks bought from off premise are to be consumed at the Tav.

In line with our House Management Policy and Code of Conduct certain restrictions apply to the service of alcohol products.

Due to regulations of the Health Department and in line with industry standards, no leftover food will be packaged for consumption off premise.

The Tav is a licensed premise. Approved form of ID will be required at all times. The only forms of identification that are accepted are valid Australian drivers licence with photo, valid international passport or WA proof of age card. Underage guests must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Entry will be refused if you can’t provide.
•
We reserve the right to refuse service and remove any patron showing signs of intoxication, or displaying anti-social behaviour.
•
Whilst every endeavour is made to the contrary the Tav takes no responsibility for any gifts or goods left behind at the end of the function, loss of clothing or loss of personal items left with management or staff.
•
The client accepts responsibility for costs for any equipment, furniture, fittings or parts of the building damaged by their guests and associates during the function.

An email quote will then be returned to you. When making your booking, you accept all function terms and conditions as stipulated.
Music We provide all music through the in house Nightlife music/ video system. If your function is exclusive and you require a DJ please enquire with your booking we may be able to assist.
Dress Code While themed parties that encourage guests to dress up are acceptable, all attire must be appropriate, clean and non-offensive. We reserve the right to asks someone to leave if they are dressed offensively or inappropriately.
Payment Your function must be paid for in full on the day of the event. We accept cash, eftpos, and credit cards (excluding American Express and Diners Club). Curtin University preferred payment is corporate credit card although an invoice is possible, please provide: • Invoice to • Department
