Interview

Coach Jeff Jordan

By: KL

Name – Jeff Jordan

and demanding accountability and discipline.

Location – Garland High School

KL: What is your opinion of youth football? Jeff: Some coaches are good but unfortunately a lot of coaches are only in it to feed their ego and not to help kids.

Years Of Experience - 27 KL: Why did you want to become a coach? Jeff: To help kids grow into responsible adults! KL:What is your football philosophy? Jeff: I believe that you have to be able to control the line of scrimmage, run the ball effectively and be great on defense and special teams. KL: Can you explain in detail what your typical practice will be like with you? Jeff: We start off with special teams every day for 10 minutes so the kids understand the importance of it. We will then go 10 minutes of individual work, 15-20 minutes of group work and 15-20 minutes of team. KL: Who is your favorite football team and football player? Jeff: Dallas Cowboys and Bob Lilly (An oldie but a goodie! Loved him when I was a kid!) KL: What are two of the most prominent mistakes you have made during your coaching career? Jeff: 1. Hiring the wrong person – especially when I first became a Head Coach. 2. Making a snap decision in the heat of the moment on a kid without thinking everything through first. Fortunately, I have gotten a lot better on both these fronts over the years. KL: How will you increase participation in the program? Jeff: Make it fun for the kids while still working hard

KL: How do you define success for the Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity programs? Jeff: If the kids have learned to work hard and come together as a team. If they played up to their potential.
