What is your favorite meal, and how does it reflect various developments in the history of agriculture, and larger environmental history? Pad Thai is my favourite meal to enjoy during both lunch and dinner times. It is notably one of the most famous Thai dishes outside of Thailand and can be found served in all Thai restaurants and eateries in Singapore. It is a savoury dish which consists of rice noodles stir–fried with eggs, shrimps, fried tofu cubes, garlic, red chilli peppers, seasoned with fish sauce, tamarind pulps, palm sugars and served with chopped roast peanuts and lime slices. Other than these staple ingredients, condiments such as bean sprouts, coriander leaves and proteins such as slices of beef, chicken or pork may also be added to one's tasting. Pad Thai is not only tasty but is an example of how Columbian Exchange influenced and provided for the food ingredients found in pad Thai and the cultural perception which we have for Thai cuisine today. The popularisation of pad Thai as Thailand's national dish also reflected how food could be closely linked to the country's economic growth, national identity and nutrition.

My favorite dish is sushi, which is a collective name for a variety of different preparations. There is sashimi, which is just fish, nigiri which consists of fish and rice, and rolls, which can have a multitude of different ingredients. The dish is Japanese in origin, though many cultures have raw fish preparations, like Polynesian culture and Peruvian as well. While raw fish is often considered to be the central ingredient, the key to sushi (except sashimi) is the special rice that defines the dish.
Sushi's history is steeped in folklore. One story is that in ancient Japan, a woman was hiding her rice in osprey nests so that it would not be stolen. The rice was ferment slightly, and the ospreys would leave bits of fish. The combination of fish and fermented rice was considered to be delicious, and that it also served to preserve fresh fish a little bit as well (Avey, 2012). By the mid–1700s, the rice was being prepared in a formal way, using cooked rice that was seasoned with rice vinegar as an accompaniment to fish. The layers were compressed in a box for two hours, sliced and served (Avey, 2012).
The next development in the preparation of sushi came in the 1820s in Edo (now Tokyo). A vendor with a good location near a bridge developed a quicker version of the process, where the cooked rice, vinegar and salt were let to sit for a few minutes, delivering a "quick fermentation" process. The sushi was then hand–pressed with a ball of rice and a slice of fish from the Get more content

Sushi: A Research on
A famous poet once said that, "Food is also closely related to memory. We eat certain things in a particular way in order to remember who we are." I can't agree more. As I was born and grew up in China, this country gives me the most delicious food and cherished memories. As we know, China covers a large territory and has many nationalities. So, there is a variety of Chinese food with different but fantastic and tasty flavor. Today, I want to introduce you my favorite food, which has special meaning to me. It is a kind of noodle. But there are many different kinds of noodles in my country, I don't even count down how many are them. For example, In Shanxi, the most famous noodle is sliced noodles; in Guangdong, it has dry fried noodles; in Sichuan, people love spicy hot noodles very much. In my pleasant hometown Wuhan, the hot dry noodles, also known as "reganmian", is a traditional and the most famous local dish in Central China. For I was born in Wuhan and live in there for almost all my life, I can say that hot dry noodles is my favorite with no doubt. The hot–dry noodles are meaningful to me because of two reasons. First, they origin from my hometown use the simplest integrates and taste amazing; Second, they help me go through the most difficult time living aboard. The hot dry noodles should not be considered as simple food. Not only because the noodles have enjoyed a long history within Chinese food culture over 80 years, but also they are popular with locals during

I know I'm getting my proper amount of vegetables. The succulent tan chewy mushrooms provides an excellent source of potassium, also an interesting fact (mushrooms helps with migraine headaches.) The sundried tomatoes are sparingly sprinkled throughout the dish because the flavor is quite intense, concentrated and slightly salty so a little goes along way. Many vegetables give pasta the picture perfect look. When eating this incredible tasting pasta I understand what it takes to make food so inviting. It has many different yet, incredible savory sauces and different ways of being crafted it can easily be adapted in diverse culture which makes pasta that more interesting. The pasta dish has come a long way from its original creation in the 18th century with its ingredients that consisted of only egg , flour, cheese, and cream; however, it has evolved into a food of art that has my taste buds more in–tact. Usually when someone asks me "what is your favorite food?" My immediate reply is food. I know that sounds like I 'm trying to be funny but it 's true. I enjoy such a wide variety of food that to narrow it down to "this is my favorite food that I would be happy eating for the rest of my life," it 's nearly impossible. So I have decided to talk about one of my many favorite foods: sandwiches. One of the things I like the most about sandwiches is that they can be so versatile. You could do Vietnamese and have bahn–mi or Mexican and have a torta. Or, settle for the old comfort of a peanut butter and jelly. Just like it is impossible to narrow down a favorite food, it 's hard for me to narrow down a least favorite food as well. I 've always been pretty easy to please in the food department. There aren 't many things that I don 't like. That being said there are a couple of things that I have tried and found to be disgusting. Durian definitely tops that list. Durian is a fruit native to South East Asia. It is distinctive by the fact that it 's covered on spikes and its strong pungent odor. The odor has been described as rotten onions, turpentine, and even raw sewage. Personally, I 've always felt it smelled and tasted like dirty socks. I have tried it several times in several different ways, and it 's just not something that I can handle. I would have to say the best cook I know is probably my husband. I like to make jokes that I married him for his skills in the kitchen. It 's Get more content

One of the biggest struggles in my life tends to be food. I love eating, but at the same time, I rather not eat. I love trying new foods with exotic flavors and unique recipes, but I fear the reaction that by body will force on me. I have recently been diagnosed with a condition known as dyspepsia. This essentially means my stomach does not enjoy food as much as my mouth does. With each meal, I face the possibility of becoming nauseous after eating. As a result, I tend to avoid large portions, greasy, or overly sweet foods. Although, every now and then, I push my fears of food aside and fully indulge myself in spectacular meals. Poe's Tavern has been the restaurant in which I break beyond my fears and gorge on food. Located in Wrightsville beach, Poe's Tavern tends to be one of my favorite places to eat to feel satisfied after a meal, and fascinated as a literary fanatic throughout the entire experience. This restaurant has been created in honor of the author and poet, Edgar Allan Poe. Poe has been credited as the creator of the mystery and horror genera. He tends to be most well known for his poems and short stories, in which Poe's Tavern glorifies through their restaurant environment as well as food selection. Poe's Tavern has been a phenomenal restaurant for any literary enthusiast with an interest in a fascinating environment and adventurous taste pallet. If your instructor asks you to describe your favorite food, make sure that you jot down some ideas before you begin describing it. For instance, if you choose pizza, you might start by writing down a few words: sauce, cheese, crust, pepperoni, sausage, spices, hot, melted, etc. Once you have written down some words, you can begin by compiling descriptive lists for each one.
Use clear and concise language.
This means that words are chosen carefully, particularly for their relevancy in relation to that which you are intending to describe.
Choose vivid language.

Eating half naked sounds weird, well it is weird, but that just shows you the closeness of our relationship. I 'm obsessed with spaghetti, it 's the best carbs a girl could get her hands on.
For instance, when my grandmother is cooking her infamous spaghetti, the whole neighborhood knows because you can smell the sauce from outside of the house. We use to stay in a small shotgun house and since there was poor ventilation, she would cook with the door open. Well, we had to stop that because neighbors would beg like no tomorrow for a plate of food, the same neighbors who wouldn 't even lend you a cup of sugar if your life depended on it. Moreover, the downfall of her cooking without the door open is that my mouth would hang to the floor the whole time the meal was being prepared because I would be mesmerized.
When she cooks, she seduces you and the aromas pull moans from the bottom of your belly. I remember this one time my nose got me in trouble. My nose grew feet and walked me to the kitchen where I saw the spaghetti cooling off on the counter, I figured one or three spoonfuls of the sauce would hurt, well I was wrong. The sauce was so hot on my tongue that tears came out of my eyes. I screamed and screamed until my grandmother came in the kitchen. She said, " Girl what in the hell is wrong with you?"
I mumbled, "Mawmaw my tongue is on fire."

" A recipe has no soul. You, as a cook, must bring soul to the recipe," Thomas Keller once said. New food brings new experiences to things. I love trying new food and experiencing new traditions from different cities, states and countries that come from a different culture. The three countries I picked are Japan, Italy and France. Some of my favorite foods come from these three countries that I am had the more experience trying which includes pasta, bread, seafood and pastries etc. I have loved seafood ever since I was little, so I wanted to expand on dishes and learn more ways seafood is used in Japan. Even though pasta gives everyone major calories, it's a must in America. I have always liked trying new pastas and it's best accompanied with bread and oil. Who doesn't love trying new desserts especially in the prime country of amazing pastries, France. I love baking which makes trying new desserts even better. So why not try new things new food and new experiences. Japan has been impacted by many food styles of other nations. They've taken them and published them to create their own unique cooking style and eating habits. China influenced Japan in 300 B.C. to use chopsticks and soy. The two religions Buddhism and Shinto influenced the the Japanese culture to be more of a diet. This created their styles of food to be simpler. A lot of dishes were vegetarian. My favorite food of all time is my grandma's oatmeal scotchies! Oatmeal scotchies are regular oatmeal cookies with butterscotch chips baked into them. They are super delicious! When my grandma first wanted me to try the oatmeal scotchies I didn't think I would like them because I thought they were just oatmeal cookies. But I ended up loving them! Once when my friends and I had one of our last basketball league games, it was a day before my birthday so I brought oatmeal scotchies and everyone loved them! Oatmeal scotchies are so good!
Another one of my favorite foods is my mom and dad tacos! They are so yummy! When my mom and dad make tacos they have a bunch of different toppings to go in the taco. We always have lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, onions, peppers, sour cream, salsa and of course the taco meat! It is all so colorful. They also make nacho cheese and we have corn chips to go with the tacos. My Grandpa even bought us special taco plates because I love tacos so much. The plates are orange, my mom and I's favorite color, and they have ridges in them to help your taco stand up and a place for your nachos and sides. I love tacos!!
I really like when my grandma and I make homemade pizza. It tastes so good! We make the pizza dough from scratch, well my Grandma does, and then we spoon on the sauce and sprinkle on the cheese and last but not least the pepperonis! Lots of pepperoni. We make the pizza around Christmas time and have dinner over

From pizza day in the school cafeteria to pizza parties at sleep away camp, there was nothing more exciting than when that cardboard box was opened to reveal a round pie with eight delicious slices waiting to be devoured.
Early on I learned that everybody eats their pizza differently. There are those who fold their slices in half, those who eat their slices with two hands, and those who (dare I say) like to cut their pizza with a fork and knife. One of the foods I enjoy is chinese food, still to this day i love it. If I could i would eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner. However, i know if i would eat it on a regular basis, soon i would get tired of it. Orange chicken was the light of my day, it was what i looked forward to when eating chinese food. Now i can not help but to ignore it, at all cost if necessary. I distinctly remember the feeling i had that day i ate one of my favorite foods. It was about four years ago, 2013, i was 13 and in the 8th grade. It was my first time at ever at Six Flags, i was scared out of my mind and felt a little anxious. We stopped to eat late in the afternoon, we went to the closest place we could fine, which happened to be Panda Express. Panda express is one of my favorite chinese places to eat so i had no problem in eating there. I bought chow mein, beef and broccoli, and orange chicken; i ate the orange chicken first because it is my favorite. However, that's the only thing i ate because i started to feel sick and experience stomachaches. I went the rest of that day in pain and in discomfort, until i eventually threw up right before a ride. Now every time i see orange chicken i get a feeling of sickness and tend to avoid eating it at all costs. The unconditioned stimulus is the orange chicken, i had never had a problem or bad experience with it. The unconditioned response would be the sick feeling i got for eating it, i have eaten orange chicken multiple times and never gotten sick.
