SUMMER 2023 PROGRAM GUIDE MAY JUNE JULY

2023 SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

APRIL 29 - JULY 31, 2023

Read Books! Win Things!

It’s that simple. ALL TOGETHER NOW – the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries Summer Reading Challenge – returns starting April 29th.

To participate, READ & FILL OUT YOUR READING LOG. You can keep track of your reading with the individual or family log on the back cover of this guide.

Kids up to age 11: read 10 books (or, if you’re reading chapter books, read for four hours total).

Teen and adults: read for four hours

Bring your completed log to your local branch of the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries for a small treasure chest prize and an entry into our Grand Prize Drawing for games, gift cards, tech toys, and more.

And pick up another log! Every completion earns you another entry for the Grand Prize Drawing!

Families Can Read Together, Too!

We have a special completion log for families that read together… its on page 19! This way you don’t have to complete a form for each child. Just read those books together, then bring the family log to your Library. Everyone listed gets a completion prize and one entry into their age group’s Grand Prize Drawing! For complete details, visit, CVLGA.org.

INTRODUCING OUR NEW LOOK!

Dear Valued Customers,

It is my privilege to share that the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries is launching a new website at cvlga.org in celebration of National Library Week. The new site, which will improve the online customer experience, was coordinated simultaneously with the development of a new brand featuring a new Library logo.

With the refreshed branding prominent throughout, our new website provides an expanded homepage menu to access books in various formats, research tools, free programs and classes, and less traditional offerings such as museum passes. The new quick link icons will allow us to showcase services and resources that matter most to our community such as meeting room spaces, author visits, and genealogy resources. We’ll also be able to prominently highlight new releases and staff recommendations. Designed to be fully responsive for mobile, tablet and desktop users, I know you’ll find this tool to be key in locating the information you need no matter what device you use.

Launched more than 15 years ago, the previous logo was difficult to use across emerging digital platforms and was simply outdated. While circulating books remains core at CVL, we are regularly called on to provide computer help, resume assistance, and critical outreach services for disadvantaged populations. Our new abstract logo features a crisp, modern design and bold colors that will help us communicate how we’ve evolved to meet those changing needs in our community.

Our team has been working for months to bring you an improved customer experience, both inperson and online. We encourage you to visit the new cvlga.org to explore all we have to offer.

Our Brand Story

The story of the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries (CVL) is not one story but many. Each patron, staff member, and partner has their own unique connection to the library. The new mark reflects the individual nature of these stories and tells the story of interconnectedness, inclusivity, and movement. Each piece fits together as part of a larger whole; each piece is essential. Together they reflect the interdependence of the library, community, and partners. The Library is not static. CVL reaches out into the community and expands beyond its walls to meet the community where it is. Lastly, the design gives a nod to a bookmark symbolizing that we remain a hub for books and knowledge.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Read to your baby or child daily with the goal of 1,000 books before they start kindergarten. You can easily reach this goal in less than 3 years by reading just 1 book each night. Pick up a paper log at branches or log your reading using the free Beanstack app.

Ferst Readers of Muscogee County

Ferst Readers eliminates the key reason why parents do not read to their children by ensuring the availability of quality books in the home. Through this program, children are mailed one book per month from birth until five years of age — completely free of charge. Sign up at ferstreadersofmuscogeecounty.org.
