FILM LOCATION
Did you know the famous tunnel chase scenes from cult classic The Italian Job were filmed in the sewers around Stoke Aldermoor in Coventry in 1969? Spring 2009 saw the city centre become over-run by hoards of schoolchildren complete with camels to boot for the shooting of the Christmas blockbuster – Nativity! Hyacinth Bucket and her hen pecked husband lived on Blossom Avenue, which was in fact Heather Road in Binley Woods, Coventry for Keeping up Appearances.
6
In the original The Haunting the external shots of Hill House were that of the Ettington Park Hotel in Stratford upon Avon, infra red film was used to emphasize the striations of the stone and make it look more menacing.
visitcoventryandwarwickshire.co.uk
Coventry and Warwickshire provides the perfect film location, the region boasts unique and inimitable contrasts between sharp modern skylines to historic rolling countryside with everything in between. So if you get a sudden feeling of déjà vu whilst exploring Coventry and Warwickshire it may well be that you’ve seen it before on screen. If you are thinking about filming in Coventry, why not contact us at filming@cvone.co.uk and we will be happy to help.

FUTURE OF COVENTRY
a future Coventry Coventry has benefited from multi million pound investments from developers, stakeholders, regional and European agencies to become a leading city that’s building a brighter future over the next ten years. The whole city is gearing up for the Jerde masterplan which is set to completely transform the city and bring it into the 21st Century leaving behind the image of hastily built post war architecture.
90
A wealth of big named businesses are cashing in on Coventry’s bright future; QCDA has relocated offices from London and Severn Trent have based their head office here.
Far Gosford Street Far Gosford Street will be transformed into a vibrant cultural quarter, covering over six-hectares. The area’s redevelopment will create something truly unique, as it centres on the re-establishment of the street’s remarkable 15th century buildings. And progress is already well under way.
The city has a range of world class business facilities from state of the art conferencing facilities to picturesque venues nestled in the heart of the country. Friargate Friargate Coventry LLP has been granted outline planning approval for the redevelopment of the 15-hectare site next to the city’s train station. The 10-15 year project will transform the area from an under utilised location at the heart of the city into a commerciallyfocused, mixed-use hive of activity, capable of attracting previously unattainable levels of inward investment into the area.
visitcoventryandwarwickshire.co.uk
Belgrade Plaza Work continues on the 1.4-hectare mixed-use Belgrade Plaza scheme, which fought off competition from projects around the country to scoop the coveted Premier Guarantee Excellence Award for best mixed-use development in 2009. Following on from the opening of the Premier Inn, 2009 saw the completion and opening of the development’s new public square.
