THE ARTISTS Lena Seikaly (vocals) is a D.C. area native and named “one of Washington’s preeminent jazz singers” and “brightest voices in jazz” (The Washington Post). She was one of 11 semi-finalists for the prestigious 2015 Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Vocals Competition in L.A., and is an alum of the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program, the Jazz Aspen Snowmass program directed by Christian McBride, and the Strathmore Artist-in-Residence program. As both a bandleader and featured artist, Lena has headlined at Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai (China), the Kennedy Center, Strathmore Music Center and Mansion, Blues Alley, West Virginia Public Radio’s Mountain Stage, various Smithsonian venues, and D.C.’s famed Westminster Church, as well as at the Elkhart Jazz Festival (Elkhart, IN), Mel Bay Jazz Festival (St. Louis, MO), Monty Alexander Jazz Festival (Easton, MD), Chestertown Jazz Festival (Chestertown, MD), DC Jazz Festival (Washington, D.C.), and Center City Jazz Festival (Philadelphia, PA). She has performed alongside Byron Stripling, Sean Jones, Cyrus Chestnut, Norman Simmons, Walter Blanding, Michael Feinstein, Duduka da Fonseca, and various big bands across the U.S. Steve Herberman (guitar) is a graduate of Berklee College of Music majoring in Jazz Guitar Performance. He began playing a seven-string guitar in 1993. Steve has recorded numerous CD’s as both leader and sideman and is a respected jazz educator. His original composition “What We Do” won first place in the Jazz category of the 2018 USA Songwriting Competition. He has about 60 video lessons published on Mike’s Masterclasses, has toured across the U.S. and Europe playing and teaching, and is featured in the book The Great Jazz Guitarists by Scott Yanow. He is also on the faculty of JazzWire and JazzBand Masterclass. Steve is an endorser of Comins Guitars and GLB Sound amps and is based in the Washington, D.C. area. Jeff Reed (bass) is an acoustic bassist, electric bassist, composer, and educator residing in Baltimore, Maryland. One of the most in demand sidemen in the area, Jeff has performed extensively throughout the United States and throughout the world. As a sideman, he frequently works with bass vibraphonist Warren Wolf, trumpeter Sean Jones, and bass clarinetist Todd Marcus. He has also performed with a slew of musicians over the years that include Gary Thomas, Miguel Zenon, David Sanchez, Dave Kikoski, Dave Liebmann, Tom Scott, Jeff Coffin, Bennie Maupin, Kirk Whalum, Take 6, and Tom Morello, to name a few. He has also been recorded on over 50 full-length albums. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Music from Towson University and a Master of Music from the University of Maryland, College Park.
