Keeping Your Home Cool
Ways to Beat the Heat Keep windows and doors open at night to let the cool breeze in. If your home is hotter than outside then place the fans in windows and
doorways facing out to move the hot air out of your home. At night when the air is cooler outside than in your home place the fans
in windows facing in to bring the cool air into your home. Even if it is colder in the morning, keep your windows and doors open so
the cool morning air will come in. Close windows and doors when your home is cooler than outside to trap
the cold air in your home. Close curtains and shades over windows that let in direct sunlight to
prevent home from heating. Hang heavy blankets or towels over windows to block direct sunlight. Avoid using your oven or clothes dryer when it is warm outside. Turn off lights and lamps that use halogen or regular incandescent lights
as they give off a lot of heat. Avoid using doors to the outside that are in direct sunlight. Try entering
through your garage instead. Place a cold bag or icepack at the foot of your bed to keep you cool at
night. Remember fido! Run your dogs rope toy under cold water and place in
plastic bag in the freezer. Wait 2-3 hours and give your pal their toy.
