I am a calm guy. I can be a little shy at first, but once we get to be friends, I will love you forever. I am a very good boy and will be waiting for you to come meet me.

This is lovable, smart Rocky. He would love to be your hiking, running partner. He came in as a stray. We have had him one year. He gets along best with female dogs. He is big and strong, perhaps 70 lbs. He would be best in an only dog family as he is food aggressive.

Gardening WITH KATIE
Springtime is very slow to arrive in Colorado’s high country. Annual flowers and vegetables can’t be safely planted outside until Father’s Day in June. Wild grasses are slow to turn from brown to green. Perennial plants take their time to start growing from their roots. And wildflowers don’t usually appear until midJune or later. So it’s always a joy when Colorado’s earliest native wildflower blooms in May, the pasque flower (Pulsatilla patens). This beautiful fuzzy lavender wildflower pops up both shady and open areas. It looks like a hairy crocus that’s a light lavender with a yellow center. At CWWC it can usually be found first in Na’Vi and Tala’s enclosure towards the back in the grassy spots. A few years ago I was pen cleaning with another volunteer, Mary. We were in Na’Vi and Tala’s enclosure when I found the first pasque blooms. Mary is an exceptional photographer, so I asked her to take a picture of this beautiful flower. As she got down on the ground very close to the bloom, Na’Vi runs over and eats the bloom as she takes a picture of it! It’s a good thing he’s so adorable.
