Meet Rylee

OCTOBER-NOVEMBER 2013

Rylee is our newest addition from a Denver based Border Collie rescue. As most of you know Border collies are one of the most intelligent breeds of the dog world. Rylee was being trained to sniff out peanut scents for a family who had a child that was allergic to them. Unfortunately, Rylee had a small petit seizure and was disqualified from the program. We adopted Rylee a month ago. He is currently in obedience classes and will be graduating in two weeks. His next class will be agility and sheep trials in summer. In the meantime, he loves to play frisbee, tug-o-war and any game that involves running. He is an amazing dog and the best quality of him is his sweet kisses and when he curls up to you at night.

t hank you

Thank You for those who supported Carlos during the voting for the Hero Dog Awards. We had a great time in Hollywood. It was a whirlwind trip but is a memory that I will always hold in my heart because it was an event where Carlos was honored for his selfless service to our troops and country. I will be starting my mission to ensure all CWDs like Carlos make it home with the drawdown of troops in Afghanistan. None of these dogs should be left, given or farmed out to nationals and suffer neglect like Carlos endured or even worse. What touched my heart most at the Gala was the standing ovation Carlos received when we walked on stage. A MOM couldn’t have been prouder of her “son”. Of course, out of all the celebrities that attended the event, the highlight was sitting down and talking for a couple of minutes with Betty White. She is an amazing woman that truly loves animals. With that being said, the Television Premiere is on the HALLMARK CHANNEL on October 30th at 6:00pm Pacific time. Although Carlos didn’t win the Overall Hero Dog in Hollywood, we have one more chance for him to win. The Hallmark Channel has a contest for a VIEWERS’ TOP DOG Award. Please vote TODAY.. the contest ends October 30th. http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/topdog Warmest wishes to all, Ruby & Carlos

THANK YOU We would like to sincerely thank Mike Cavanaugh, owner of “Mike’s Natural Pet Market,” for donating organic cat and dog food for our wolves, fox and coyote. CWWC staff members and volunteers endorse “Mike’s Natural Pet Market,” and shop there for their “domestic” pets organic and natural pet food needs. He also carries a wide variety of healthy treats, chews and toys. We greatly appreciate your donation!

looking for a forever home A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself

BUNNY

This is Bunny. She is a Jack Russell Terrier mix. She looks all Jack Russell but is bigger than a pure breed. She has a natural bob tail. She was homeless and had a badly broken back leg now set and healed. She can tear around like mad and loves playing with the other dogs. She does have a limp but it doesn’t slow her in the least. She is a very social, very loving dog and wants to be with you every minute and be around other dogs as well. She is sensitive and was trembling with fear when rescued and when taken to the vets. She very much needs a loving home. She has all her shots and is spayed and ready for a new home.

Kunie

Hi there, my name is Kunie and I came to TCRAS scared and untrusting. While I am still working on my issues I am getting better. I need to have a big yard with a 6ft wood fence to keep me contained. I do like to run and because I am so timid I am really hard to catch. I am quite the lover once I get to trust you but it will take me a while to get used to my new diggs. I am a playful guy who enjoys being outside and hanging out with you once I am comfortable. NOTE: He is extremely cautious of new people, so we ask that anyone interested in him come and spend time with him, to build his trust, before he goes home. Once he knows you he is as sweet as can be and a wonderful dog. He gets along with cats and dogs. He just needs that special someone to give their time to him so he can fall in love!

TCRAS, the no-kill shelter in Divide, CO · 719-686-7707 www.tcrascolorado.com Vieques Humane Society - Vieques, Puerto Rico, a small island located off the mainland’s east coast, for many years offered no veterinary or animal rescue services. During the early 1980’s, a handful of concerned immigrants from the states and a few local residents took a serious interest in improving the welfare of the animals. They began by feeding the island’s multitudinous strays and soliciting the help of veterinarians from Puerto Rico to sterilize them. By 1987, the Vieques Humane Society and Animal Rescue, Inc. was officially established as a non-profit organization. Today they still offer the only veterinary services on the island and have developed strong community based programs.
