The wolves, foxes, and coyotes enjoyed their meat filled pumpkins on the annual Howl-O-Ween tour!

EMAIL · Hi. Just got around to reading your September newsletter. I am from Wisconsin and have “played” with your wolves 4 times now. I am disgusted and saddened to read about the bear baiting going on in my own state....I had no idea!! And then reading about the snakes! I just got tears! I love these newsletters to keep informed.... even informed about my own state!! I am unable to visit my fave wolves this year due to knee rehab, but hopefully next year again. I tell everyone about the wolves in the hopes they will visit or donate. One family I encouraged to visit with their kids did your moon tour a month or so ago and I finally heard back from them. “It was FANTABULOUS!” they said :-) Jewels J.

PUMPKIN IS GOOD FOR YOUR PET It can help with the following pet ailments:

1) Digestive Health: Pumpkin is a fabulous source of fiber for our furry friends, as well as for us. Pureed pumpkin (with no added sugar or spice) can help dogs and cats with both constipation and diarrhea. Adding a tablespoon or two (in proportion to their size) to their regular meal is known to help keep them regular. 2) Urinary Health: Pumpkin seeds are high in essential fatty acids and antioxidants (good for overall healthy skin and fur), and the oils in pumpkins’ flesh and seeds

are believed to support urinary health. They are also an excellent source of Vitamin A, beta-carotene, potassium and iron, and may even reduce the likelihood your pet will develop cancer. 3) Weight Loss: If you are looking to take a few pounds off of your pooch or kitty, try reducing a portion of their food and replace it with the same portion of canned pumpkin. Their tummy will feel just as full, and they might even thank you for the additional flavor.

Dr Jeff and his team came out to see one of our fox who has a ear infection. It turned out to some non cancerous cysts that can be treated and maintained. We would like to thank Dr Jeff for helping out our fox. This is the second season that Animal Planet and Dr. Jeff has been here. THANK YOU Dr Jeff Young (Dr Jeff) , Rachel Nichols, and Jeff Baier

big or small, I can do it all!

Non-Profit NO-KILL Shelter Monetary Donations Always Needed

My name is Alison K. From big to small, my partner Josh and I can do it all with love and responsibility wrapped into one! I have experience with dogs of all sizes, ferrets, cats and horses. We live in an apartment so I may not have enough room for those much bigger breeds, but I am more than happy to dog sit over night at your home. We live on a spacious horse ranch with plenty of room for your furry friend to run and play! If your dog loves to walk he/she will love to be on vacation with us! Since I work and volunteer part time at a ranch with dogs of all breeds and other animals, I am familiar and sensitive to your pets needs. I also have access to oncall vets if ever needed. If your dog is with us, you will receive photos of our time together and you can email or call me at any time to check on your loved one. I am insured and bonded. Relax and know that your pet is safe and having a great time while you are away!

2y 6m Female/Spayed · White Australian Cattle Dog/Terrier, Pit Bull Hi! I’m Pearl. It’s nice to meet you. It would be so nice to have a home and family of my own. I’m a gentle and sweet little girl with plenty of love to share. I can be a little timid at first but give me some time and I’ll be your best friend. I can be a little assertive with some animals so I would also need someone willing to work with that and help me with my socialization. Would you like to take me home? I would love that so much.

8yr · Male/Neutered · Black Shorthair/Mix Looking for a PURRRRFECT cat? Well here he is! Mr. Purrfect was brought to the shelter as a stray. As soon as he sees you he starts to purr. Loves being petted and being on your lap. He would love to give you some love when you come by for a visit.

Stretch needs a home.

We have had Stretch since he was a wee baby of 5 weeks old. He is now 8 months old. He barks a lot at adoption fairs because of so many dogs coming and going so people stay away from him. He loves to play with other dogs. He is neutered, microchipped, all vacc’s current. He would be quiet in your home. Stretch is a Scottie mix, about 20 lbs.

Winter Gardens

by Katie Geist

Gardening Surprises!

Gardeners love all plants and are open to trying new and different plants. I like to look for varieties that I’m not familiar with for both my indoor and outdoor gardens. If they look like they may work in our high mountain zone, I will take a risk and plant them. I was given a cute little succulent plant called a Stapelia. I planted it with a few other succulents, and put it in a sunny south-facing window at home. I pretty much left it alone except for occasionally watering it. Last month I noticed some bud like protuberances coming out of a stem and thought – a flower bud! The bud grew quite large but still no bloom. Finally it opened and it was the most amazing and bizarre flower I’ve seen. The bloom had a short life but another bud is growing and should be open next week. Surprises like this reinforce a gardener’s desire to try new plants. What will you add to your garden this next season?
