What is the main focus for your company at GITEX 2021?

Siemon was founded in 1903 and over the last 118 years, we have built on our USP of product innovation. At GITEX 2021, our focus is on the regional data centres and smart /intelligent building market. We provide solutions for the design and implementation of a successful data centre with future migration capabilities. For intelligent buildings, it is about the integration and convergence of multiple systems onto one single platform.

Our focus continues to be to add value to our customers’ current requirements and guide them to a much more scalable and sustainable future-proof design in the data centre and intelligent building space.

How can customers fast-track their digital transformation ambitions with your solutions?

To support digital transformation, IT infrastructure must be built to parallel optics with multi-fibre connectivity (i.e., MPO/MTP) or wave division multiplexing (WDM) technologies should be considered. Base-8 plug-and-play fibre systems provide seamless transmission from duplex 10Gb/s to current and future 8-fibre applications.

support low-latency performance and reliability whilst enabling rapid deployment and scalability.

Siemon’s pre-terminated copper and fibre optic cabling solutions enable 30% faster installation time compared to field terminated cabling solutions. In the data centre, the customer should utilise the Base 8 MPO OM4 cabling solution or Base8 MPO single-mode fibre cabling solution for easy migration to higher speed applications. With Siemon’s data centre design services, customers have an optimised data centre design in place with the right architecture, topology, and components to support their digital transformation initiatives. Our ConvergeIT solution will allow them to bring in silo devices into one IP platform, thereby helping them to connect and work with each other as a unified system. It will help transform a building into a truly smart building.

Which key technologies should customers invest in today to ensure business continuity in the digital era?

Customers should invest in cabling technologies that provide sufficient application support today while at the same time offering an easy migration path to higher speed applications in the future. In data centre switch-toserver connections where speeds are moving from 25, 50, and 100 Gb/s, high speed interconnects cables such as Direct Attach Cable (DAC) assemblies, and Active Optical Cables (AOCs) should be deployed. In the backbone where speeds are increasing to 200, and 400 Gb/s, multimode and single-mode fibre cabling using

Which aspects of digital transformation are customers not paying adequate attention to?

An organisation often underestimates the Layer 1 infrastructure, which is the foundation that supports the technologies that facilitate digital transformation.

Digital transformation using digital technologies to create new or modify existing business processes, culture, and customer experiences are critical to meet changing business and market requirements.

Security is one key aspect that needs high attention. Customer service and customer experience are other important elements to pay attention to.

Can you elaborate on your plans for the regional market over the next few quarters?

We intend to capture the data centre’s exponential growth in the region in the next few quarters by capitalising on our key differentiating products and the highly skilled technical expertise.

Also, intelligent and smart building solutions is one of our core expertise which we would like to further with our consultative approach. We like to also retain our existing customers and add many new ones with our extensive value-adds.
