School of Computing

The School of Computing aims to shape future industry -sought skills in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Networks, Digital Media, Data Science and Intelligent Information Systems. Our courses provide innovative, practical and research-led teaching, designed to meet current and future industry needs.

Course Highlights

Learning

Students learn in state-of-the-art facilities acquiring skills in areas such as web, database and network security, penetration testing, ethical hacking, digital forensics and human factors in security. In addition to their degree, graduates also acquire knowledge and skills towards industryapproved external professional certifications in networking and security (Cisco and ECCouncil).

Placement

During their studies students have the opportunity to complete a one-year industry placement. This strong link with industry has contributed to RGU being named the top modern university in Scotland for graduate prospects (Guardian University Guide 2022).

Accreditation

Our security and networking courses are accredited by the British Computer Society for CITP. In addition, our MSc Cybersecurity course is NCSC (GCHQ) certified.

Industry Collaboration

The school works very closely with industry to shape our courses and engage in collaborative research.

Entry Requirements

• Degree Link: Study at college and then articulate into third year at RGU

• Graduate Apprenticeships: Earn a degree while working in industry

• Courses accredited by British Computer Society (BCS)

• NCSC accredited Cybersecurity course

• Accredited Cisco Academy
