COURSE SUMMARY

A. Course Aim This course we will look at the basic principal of AGT. The hazards it present in the workplace and the main measures that should be taken to minimize those hazards and the considered measures for the prevention and monitoring of Hazardous Substances and for the safe work premises. This course was developed using the OPITO standard and regulation to protecting the people from hazardous substances. In addition to the topics outlined below, this course also covers the proper work procedure in the hazardous location and make sure the area are safe and without hazardous substances. B. Course Outcome The participants shall acquire knowledge and skill related to safety awareness of the hazardous substances workplace to prevent and reduce related workplace accident congruent with industry standards of competence. C. Course Objectives At the end of this course, participants should be able to demonstrate understanding of the content through application of knowledge to familiar and unfamiliar situations. In particular they should be able to:  Describe the legal standards & regulations of AGT.  Describe the source of dangerous substances;  Outline the classification of hazardous substances;  Describe the basic principles of hazards control procedure;  Demonstrate the gas testing procedure;  Outline the factors which should be considered when to use a gas testing monitor or device;  Describe the essential terminologies and limits of gas testing; and  Outline the principle of performing gas testing in defined spaces.
