By Mike Quinn, D23 Chairman The 2015 season is complete, and it has been a good one. Participation numbers are up just a bit after several years of remaining static. It is nice to see we have some new racers coming in and old ones returning. Much has been said and written about the reason for decline in participation over the last decade. The reality is that there are several factors that have come together to create this perfect storm. The most discussed factor is the cost of racing. The reality is that the cost of racing has remained relatively stable in comparison to the increases in the costs of living. The major economic factor is a decrease in disposable income for the majority of us. Economically we have rebounded to a degree but the loss of members and participants is still with us. Any time people are forced to abandon a form of recreation and find a new one it takes time to rebuild. It is up to those of us that have remained with the sport through the tough times to sell what is to all us the best sport in existence. A positive attitude and continuous encouragement in getting friends and neighbors out there riding is an easy method to help keep the sport growing. As a district we are working on a program to train more riding instructors so we can offer classes across the state to make it easier for young people to get into the sport. The youth classes are critical to our growth. I ask all of our members and families to find a new member, or get an old member back into the sport. I would love to see us get back to the healthier days of the mid 2000’s. District business is moving along with most of our focus on the recognition of season award

Announcements, personal stuff, and.... winners. Each of our disciplines will have an Awards Ceremony Banquet. The year end awards this year will be a print on canvas that will consist of a picture of the racer or a generic picture for each type of competition. There will be personalized jackets for all of the Champions and personalized hoodies for the winner of each B and C class. The Motocross and ATV MX Awards Ceremony will be held Jan 16, at the Mermaid Entertainment and Event Center, Mounds View, MN deadline for tickets is January 6th. The Off Road, Enduro, Hare Scrambles, and Youth Cross Country Awards Ceremony will be held at the Falls Ballroom on Jan 30th, in Little Falls, MN. Deadline for tickets is Jan 20th, 2016. Hillclimb Awards Ceremony will take place at Bill Paders Place in Elsworth WI on Feb 20th. Flat Track Awards will be held at the Holiday Inn in Rogers MN on Jan 16. Contact Bayley Boelke at North Central Dirt Track for details. We will hopefully get the 2016 applications out by early to mid January. We will have to see what rules changes get voted in and get the rule book updated then we can get the apps out. This is going to be a short off season as we have been blessed with a beautiful November that has allowed us to continue to ride much longer than normal. We have some snow on the ground as I type this but not enough to keep a hardcore racer from riding. Lets hope the rest of our winter is as mild. For those of you lucky enough to get down south and do some riding, have fun and get your bikes dialed in the 2016 season will be here before you know it. Mike

Have a Merry Christmas, and a Safe & Happy New Years Renew your district memberships as soon as you get the chance to do so. This will assure you don’t miss any Cycle USA spring issues when we return return in in March March to to kick-off kick-off the the 2016 new season. we season.

outstanding performances. The Open A class was set to be prime viewing with 23 entries ready to rip up the track. Wentland, based on a pretty successful summer on the national circuit, had to be the favorite as he launched his RSR backed Honda into the lead as they headed out for moto one. Miller quickly slotted into second with Nick Schnagl close behind. Wentland established about a two second

esse Wentland topped the field at the 8th Annual Spring Creek Viking Clash, pulling three moto wins in the Open A class over his top competitor for the day, Henry Miller. Wentland also took the 14-24A class with a three-moto sweep but Miller pulled out the 250A class to redeem himself for the weekend. The two-day, three-moto format has been used before at the Viking Clash events. This year was the second of a year-ending special event series with the Berm Benders holding the first round, and Spring Creek ending the series and District 23 MX season. Extra season championship points were awarded and interest was high based on rider turnout of almost 650 entries. The weather was near perfect for a day of motocross with a sunny sky and temps in the seventies. With the Pro-Am status of the event, $3000 purse money and pro advancement points were on table, Chase Cooper grabbing adding even more incentive for the holeshot in 250C.

edge over Miller and then the gap stayed about the same for the rest of the moto. The rapid pace of the two out front was just too much for Schnagl and he lost contact, but held on for third to the flag. Sam Wise had a poor start but moved up to fourth on the second lap, then maintained position for the duration with Clay Chapiewski in fifth.

Moto two started out much the same with Wentland grabbing the holeshot over Miller and the pack. Wentland really cranked it up and Miller just couldn’t do anything to reel him back in. Wise started out early in third with Schnagl in pursuit and catching up to pressure late in the race. As the checkered flew Wentland and Miller won with a big gap over Wise who was successful in holding off Schnagl. Gavin Kadlec improved his finish from a sixth to fifth in this second moto. As the bikes hit the track in moto three, Wentland once again was at the head of the pack edging out Miller and Wise. Wentland put on a surge and although Miller put in some strong laps he found himself about 4 to 5 seconds short when the moto was flagged to a finish. Wise held on to third with Mitch Koester grabbing fourth over Schnagl and Kadlec. The 250C class had nearly a full gate on

across the finish line. Connor Anderson was third over Nick Fox. Shane Halverson pulled the start in moto two only to see Steiger zap by him as they exited turn one. Steiger again built and maintained a nice lead and held on over Payton Harrison and Halverson. Cooper had a tougher time of it and took eighth. In the final moto Cooper grabbed the lead briefly before Steiger stole it away. Fox also got by and held onto second over Cooper for most of the moto. As the checkered concluded the moto, Steiger held a decent edge for the win, Cooper edged out Fox late in the last lap to take second and was in front of a gaggle of riders running in second through sixth as Harrison, Halverson and Brenden Sperl Donavan Hanson (7) with followed them across the line in a Drew Sampson in his wake. furious cluster. the start with thirty-seven entries. rippin’ pretty good on the KTM 2 stroke. Those two ran 1-2 in all three motos and Trent Wittwer and Marcus Koester were just as consistent to go 3-4 each time. Levi Buckley goofed up and went 5-5-9 to throw off the nearly perfect mathematical progression and handed Brenden Sperl fifth overall due to his 8-6-5 motos. Jayden Clough looked strong in the 65cc 10-11 class as he ran in for a perfect three moto score. Brandon Nelson grabbed second in moto one but Gage Krech held him off for second in moto two with Spencer Hein taking fourth. In the final moto Nelson upped his game and held on for a solid second-place over Krech. Beau Engstrom and Louie Falardeaux cruised in for fourth and fifth. Blakey for second place, as they were followed by Ethan Ebben and Riley Busse. Snyder held onto a strong second at the checkers, with Blakey taking third and Ebben fourth. In moto two Price was on the throttle with the holeshot. Benjamin Blazek held onto second as Ebben and Snyder battled for third. By the start of the third lap, Snyder came out on top for the third place spot. When the riders reached the final lap, Price had a fourteen second lead on the rest of the group. Snyder worked his way up toward Blazek, but couldn’t find a way around him before the checkers. Price with a perfect 1/1 day took the overall, leaving Snyder (2/3) to take second, and Ebben (3/4) third. With a nearly full gate in 250C, it was sure to be an exciting start. When the gate dropped Hunter Schueller stole the holeshot with Lucas Zim-

merman right behind. By the time they reached the plateau Schueller still held onto first, but now with Jeremy Noreen following. At the start of the second lap, Noreen came out on top, now in front of Schueller, Zimmerman, Tyler Dennett and Dylan Frisch. Schueller wasn’t giving up, putting pressure on Noreen. Zimmerman held onto a solid third as Dennett and Zachary Scheiber followed shortly behind at mid-moto. By the final lap, Schueller found the opportunity to slip past Noreen for the first place spot. It was a repeat in moto two, when Schueller once again was on the throttle for the holeshot. By the time they reached the back sand section, Schueller and Noreen were out front for first and second, followed by Zimmerman, Scheiber, Dennett, and Ronald Schmidt. When they made it to the last lap, Schmidt was able to make the move to slip around Scheiber for fourth. Schueller (1/1) took the overall, with Noreen (2/2) second, and Zimmerman (3/4) third. In the first moto of Open B, Mason Persha was on the throttle for the holeshot. By the time the riders made it to the back sand section, Neil Knottnerus was second, with Cody Richter and Jarred Berggren

I

t turned out to be a great weekend for the final motocross race of the season at Aztalan. On Saturday night, the club held a trick or treating event for all the younger racers. Along with trick or treating, Aztalan also held a competition for overnight campers for the best decorated Halloween themed site. Track sponsors gave out prizes for the top three campsites. When it came to race day, we couldn’t have been luckier with beautiful, sunny, 70-degree weather. The club members successfully worked hard to keep the track moist and tacky for a great day of racing. It was the first gate drop of the day in PeeWee Sr. when Owen Blakey grabbed the holeshot with Ayden Price right at his rear fender. By the time the group got to the plateau area, Price already took the opportunity to move past Blakey for first. Price started to put some time on the other riders as Kaiden Snyder slipped past

nation and was really happy with the results that I got. I'd like to thank Rob’s Performance, PR2 Suspension, Karavan trailers, Spy Optics, Dunlop, and my mom and dad.” It was an exciting day for Senior +45 when Daryl Willing stole the holeshot in moto one. By the start jump in the second lap, Willing continued to keep his distance out front while James Coons, Tom Ferguson, and Andrew Bussen followed shortly behind. Near the barn section in the same lap, Michael Zimmerman made a move around Joe Ludwig for sixth. In the third lap, Coons boggled allowing Ferguson, Bussen, and Carl Hein to slip past. Willing held onto first for the rest of the race. In the second moto Daniel Lopez was ready at the gate and took the holeshot with Hein right on his rear fender. Hein quickly moved past Lopez to take over first, followed Bussen, and Ferguson. As the riders neared the barn section at the end of lap two, Ferguson was able to make the move around Bussen for third. The two continued to battle, while Gregg White and Eric Sturm held up fifth and sixth. Ferguson wasn’t stopping there, and slipped past Lopez for second. Hein took the win ahead of Ferguson, Lopez, Bussen and White in fifth. Ferguson’s very nice (2/2) took home the overall, with Hein (4/1) second, and Bussen (3/4) third. Aztalan Cycle Club added a Dash for Cash class at the end of the first set of motos to help spice up an already great day. With only four laps, and a $1000 purse on the line, it made for an exciting and competitive race between top A riders. As the gate dropped, Scott Zont was on the throttle, stealing the holeshot in front of the rest of the group. As they reached the plateau Zont continued to hold onto first, followed by Zach Coons, Joshua Philbrick, and Taylor Strauss. By the second lap, Timmy Baake started putting pressure on Strauss, leading the two to battle bar-to-bar over the plateau. Coons also started to close on Zont, looking to take over first. By the start jump in the third lap, Coons had moved around Zont for the first place spot. While Strauss and Baake continued their battle throughout lap three, Justin Wolf and Jacob Wiedmeyer kept short distance behind. Coons wasn’t giving up first, and held onto the spot for the rest of the race. Zont crossed the checkers in second, followed by Philbrick, Strauss and Baake. We couldn’t have asked for a better 2015 motocross season at Aztalan Cycle Club. The volunteers worked hard all year

to keep the track in the top condition for race weekend each month, and the competitors always put on a great day of racing. Thank you to everyone who made this season such a success - whether you’re a volunteer, racer, or spectator, we wouldn’t be able to put on these races without you. Hope you all have a great off-season, train hard, and we’ll see you next spring!

he last Sunday of October kicked off the Halloween race at Motosports Park, which is always a fun event for everyone attending. There are a lot of special events going on the day before, and a fun race to be had come Sunday morning. With the Nuke Series over and everyone out to have a little fun, it was a great day of weather and riding. The best part is all the great Halloween costumes out there to bring a little extra attention to the day. The races went off smooth all day with some great battles as the riding season nears an end in the Midwest. The track was great all day long with the crew in overdrive to keep everything fresh. It was certainly a perfect day for racing and with the leaves changing made for a great backdrop to it all. Starting things off was a great race from Open B. In the first moto Eddie Norred took the win followed by RJ Mackenzie and Chad Johnson. The gates dropped on the second moto with Mackenzie jumping out front with the holeshot. Close behind were Stuart Schwagerman who crashed 18

out of the first race, and Eric Leach holding onto third. Around the first corner everyone bunched up as Johnson moved into third with Norred right behind him. Hitting the sweeper Norred got on it hard around the outside taking over third and then passing Schwagerman over the table top to settle into second. Norred was now putting the pressure on Mackenzie for several laps and then was able to get around him at the top of the track when Mackenzie almost lost the front end around the turn. Coming across the line, Norred took the win and the overall as MacKenzie grabbed second overall. Schwagerman finished third, but with the DNF in the first moto, third overall went to Johnson (3-4). There was also some good racing out in the Vintage class today. The first moto ended with Logan Rusk in first fol-

lowed by Dan Jackson, and Dylan Frisch. The second moto got underway with Rusk grabbing the early lead followed by Frisch and Jackson. Coming into the sweeper Jackson was on it, getting into second over the tabletop. Frisch and Jackson went back and forth for several laps, as Rusk started to put a comfortable amount of space up in the front. Around on the third lap Frisch had made it back into second and was holding it with Jackson right on him. They hit the finish line with Rusk taking the win and the overall. Frisch took second overall and Jackson locked in third overall after some very heated laps. Schoolboy was a crazy race today with everyone going hard for the win. In the first moto Eddie Norred took the win with Joshua Taylor and Ben Ibianskas rounding out the top three. From the very start of the second moto I could tell things were going to get good. Coming off the line Ibianskas got out in front with Norred and Chase Boykin right behind him. As they went into the second turn they were three wide. Ibianskas and Norred got together a little bit pushing Ibianskas wide, allowing Boykin to jump up front with Taylor following behind. Ibianskas got back into it

holding onto third into the sweeper. Meanwhile Taylor out of Indiana was on rails, moving up front with Ibianskas following his lead over the table top, shuffling Boykin back to third. Not to be left out, Norred was back in fourth looking for any way to get back in the mix, and he did pushing forward to third as they came across the line for the white flag. The front three were closer than ever the entire last lap; they came over the finish with Taylor taking the win. Norred finishing third took second overall and Ibianskas in second, for third overall. Towards the end of the day Open C was out packing the gates with twenty-nine riders lining up. In the first moto Aiden Krisch took the win followed by Chase Cooper and Jeremy Noreen. The second moto dropped with everyone charging the first turn. Stephen Kupferschmid grabbed the holeshot with Krisch and Cooper right behind him. Into the sweeper Krisch went hard on the outside to take over the lead with Cooper on the move, grabbing second going inside after the tabletop. The top three stayed the same for several laps

All part of the weekend’s fun.

until Noreen was finally able to get by Kupferschmid right before the finish line moving onto the last lap. After a hard five laps the checkers flew leaving Krisch up front for the win and sweeping the overall. Cooper finished second, securing second overall while Noreen repeated the first moto, landing in third for third overall. It was a fun day out at Motosports Park with a low stress race day. All the costumes out there made things extra entertaining and some great races kept the day moving on fast. This ended the season on a high note. A lot of changes have been going on at the ever evolving track this season and you can look for things to get even better moving into next year.

Great Fall Racing at Hillpoint Hillpoint, Wisconsin - September 27 By Dave Hollub

A

fter battling Mother Nature earlier this year it was great to have a weekend of perfect moto weather for Sugar Maple MX’s final race. When sign up concluded Sunday there were 240 entries (plus 6 brave motomoms that were racing during intermission). Practice formed multiple lines and when the racing started the track really lived up to it’s reputation to really test the racers skills. Sportsman B/C got the first gatedrop of the day and Eddie Norred was out front with a small gap by the midway point of lap 1. Norred continued stretching his lead all the way to the finish while everyone else battled. Daniel Latour was holding second with pressure from Austin Childers and Austin Kenefick for the first two laps. By their fourth time around Nicholas Randrup had worked his way up from a mid pack start and was now running fourth between Childers and Kenefick. Latour had problems on the white flag lap and dropped back to sixth, opening the door for everyone to move up a spot at the checkers. Norred grabbed the second moto holeshot and in a repeat of moto one, cruised to an easy overall for the day. Childers settled into second with Kenefick pushing him until Kenefick dropped out on lap four. Randrup held off Jacob Schiller for a third place moto finish which put him in third overall just behind Childers. Elijah Tetzlaff rocketed out of the 85cc Open gate to lead the sixteen rider field. Cole Godfrey and Brandon Martyniak were putting pressure on Tetzlaff, and by the Daytona corner on lap two Godfrey slipped out front. His time in the lead was short lived as Martyniak found an opening and took over with Tetzlaff on his rear fender. Martyniak and Tetzlaff were now swapping position back and forth on lap three. Tetzlaff cross rutted in the corner and went down leaving Martyniak to cruise the last lap out front with Godfrey second and Tyler Kalies in third. Tetzlaff was out front at the beginning of moto 24

CYCLE USA, December 2015

two. Martyniak pushed his way out front as lap one was being scored and then stayed out front to the finish. Godfrey was pushing Tetzlaff hard as the white flag came out. Tetzlaff held on to second and was followed across the finish by Kalies, Mitchell Malaney, and then Godfrey who had put his head down after falling. Martyniak got the overall with a 1/1 day while Kalies claimed second with his consistency (3/3) and Godfrey (2/5) finished third. Jason Heindl led +40 out of the gate and held off pressure from Daryl Willing for the first two laps. Willing made his pass and soon enough Doug Forstner was right on his back wheel. Tom Ferguson was running fourth with Tony Kalies challenging him for position, and this order held to the checkers. Heindl grabbed the holeshot again in moto two. Willing and Forstner got by him on lap three in the rollers.

Forstner kept sticking a wheel in on Willing and finally found enough room to slip out front as they passed the holeshot corner on the final lap. Forstner held on for the moto win and took the overall with his 2/1 day. Forstner, “first moto I tried to make the pass but ran out of steam before the end. Second moto I just put my head down and charged, came through and picked them off one by one and got to the front in time for the win. I was able to hit good lines and didn’t do too bad for a sand rider. The track was awesome, it got rough. There were a lot of breaking bumps and when I made the pass for the lead in the Daytona corner second moto it was grip with your knees, hang on, and just give it. Thanks to Donahue Super Sports, Factory Effects, Factory Backing, Dunlop, Twin Air, NSC, and United Rentals- they all helped make this a great season.”

Brandon Miller finished third overall in +30B/C

50cc racer Luca Paajanen

As the 50cc bikes headed out of the gate Ayden Price edged out Kaiden Snyder at the holeshot corner for the lead. Midway through lap one Deegan Vanvreede had moved past Snyder and began chasing Price. Vanvreede was challenging Price and able to slip out front as he forced Price to go wide at the Daytona corner. Moto two started out with Price again in the lead and this time he never looked back as he held on for the win. Ben Blazek was in second, but he went down leaving Vanvreede a chance to cruise into the finish in second. Snyder finished third with Ethan Ebben fourth. Price, “I had a good day today. I got the holeshot in the first moto and stayed out front until the last lap. Deegan came around me when I took the outside. Second moto I got the holeshot again and stayed out front to take the win and the overall. The track was really rough but it was good. The ruts are really big and deep. In 65cc I finally cleared jump 3 and finished fourth overall so that was good today. I have to thank SPM, Robbin’s Manufacturing, Quamme Insurance, Full Blown Sleds, Cardinal Cage, CycleGear, my parents and grandparents.”

Kirsten Raemisch grabbed the Women’s class holeshot and immediately opened up a gap on the rest of the class as she cruised to the win. Sierra Heindl was running second with Kendra Randrup and then Dana Hanna right behind. Randrup was able to get past Heindl on the second lap. Moto two was a repeat as once again Raemisch gapped the field. Randrup and Heindl swapped positions several times on lap two, but by the end of the lap Randrup had staked claim to second and held off Heindl for the finish. In a great display of sportsmanship it was fun seeing Raemisch stop just before the finish so the 3 girls in the back of the pack would not get lapped, leaving them the chance to have one more lap to finish their battle. Open A belonged to Cody Williams as he led every lap of each moto. Behind Williams, Taylor Strauss started in second but Colton Karl charged past him before they hit the west section. Karl was able to catch Williams, but never found an opening to really stick a wheel in. Strauss had his hands full by lap three, trying to hold back Chad Johnson who got past on the white flag lap to grab third. In moto two it was Williams out front with some breathing room and then Johnson ahead of Karl. The leaders were cruising to the finish but Karl was forced to defend his spot from a charging Strauss through the last laps of the moto. Williams talked about his day and some winter plans. “It Sierra Heindl feels good to be #440 with her father Jason back in Wiscon- Heindl in practice. sin, doing some racing, having fun, and doing the best I can. Today went about as good as it could. I pulled off all my holeshots and won all the motos. The track really developed lots of deep ruts and breaking bumps like a National would, and I had a blast. In

Open A, being on a 250 it is always hard to beat those guys on their bigger bikes. Colton kept me really honest the first few laps. I just tried to keep riding smart and staying up. Second moto I got the holeshot and put in a good set of solid laps. This winter I’m going to do the East Coast Supercross so I am really looking forward to that. It has been a lifelong dream. I was able to do the last three rounds of the outdoors this year after Lorretta’s, and now with Supercross I’m going in with an open mind. I’m going to do the best I can and have fun. Thanks also to Latitude Graphics, the Burch family for letting me ride at their track during the week, Rock River, Fly, Yamaha, GPF, and Renthal.” Jacob Jesko and Eddie Norred carried on an exciting battle both motos in 125Jr, with Jesko claiming the win both motos. In moto two it looked like Norred was going to get around Jesko as lap two was going into the score cards but Norred got cross rutted and went down. There was just as heated of a battle for third between Bailey Otis and Ronald Schmidt. Otis held Schmidt off in moto one, but in moto two Schmidt set up the pass as they went through the roller section and then in the corner he pushed into the inside line for third. Otis never gave up and on the final lap slipped back into third, and held on to the finish. Josh Ramsay was in the lead when +25B/C took the gate drop, and then settled into his own fast pace once a gap was open. Elijah Gorecki had Jacob Noreen all over his back wheel trying to get past for the first three laps. Noreen finally saw a chance as he swept wide into the rollers on lap four and powered ahead of Gorecki.

Ramsay once again got the lead out of the gate in moto two and never looked back. Gorecki settled into second and despite some pressure from Nicholas Kubowski, held on to the finish. Kubowski finished third ahead of Scott Ramker and Samuel Cropsey. The biggest class of the day happened to be the last for the gate and when 250C hit the track Max Steinhorst was out front with Jeremy Noreen in his roost. Ronald Schmidt got around Hunter Schueller early in lap three. Noreen did what he could but Schmidt got by before the checkers to finish second for the moto. Steinhorst was out front again in moto two, this time with Schueller pushing him. Schueller made it to the front and Schmidt worked his way into second. Steinhorst lost ground on the leaders and Schmidt was all over Schueller as they set up for jump #9, which they hit side by side. Schmidt had to go wide in the next corner to finish the pass but got cross rutted and went down, finishing in seventh place. Schueller crossed first with Steinhorst, Zachary Scheiber, and then Noreen behind. Due to a protest later, Schueller was docked a couple positions which gave Steinhorst a 1/1 for the overall, Scheiber’s 4/2 took second and Noreen (3-3) third.

“Bucky Seven” Dual Sport Cross Plains, Wisconsin - October 24 By Gordon Lunde

T

he Bucky dual sport ride never fails to provide an exciting day of riding in the beautiful country side of South central Wisconsin. Even more excitement is added when Ma Nature decides to drop a whole lotta rain on the area the night before the event. And, keeps up the drizzle for most of the day’s ride. I’ve written in years past about the slimy conditions of this ride when it is wet. This year’s weather provided that same fun, that same slime, that same helpless feeling of sliding around in mud that just doesn’t cooperate with two wheeled vehicles. Just to prove how slick it was going to be, some four wheel vehicles were stuck in the registration/ start are before the ride began! The Madison Motorcycle Club does an absolutely awesome job of putting this ride on. Each year they seem to get more property owners to let them use their land. That leads to less road miles and more off road, which makes the ride more interest-

30

CYCLE USA, December 2015

ing. Not to say the roads in the area are disappointing. On any other day you can ride these back roads and enjoy fantastic scenery and the hospitality of all the little

towns and villages. Starting in Cross Plains, the ride traversed some 98 miles through forest, field, two track, single track and no track. The

route traveled south and west near the towns of Vermont and Pleasant Valley. A general north turn brought riders to a gas stop in Mazomanie and then lunch at the Wisconsin River Sportsman’s Club. After a great lunch the ride headed back south and east near Marxville and Martinsville, finally arriving back at the start/ finish area. During the ride, well, it was slimy! Going uphill was a challenge, coming back down even more so and there are a

lot of hills on this ride. Put a couple of layers of wet leaves on top of the mud and the ground became a skating rink. The position of the day seemed to be sit far back, pull up on the bars and let the rear steer. Most times if you let the front tire dig in it just slid out from under you. It seemed like nearly every time I came out of a woods section their were riders letting more air out of their tires in hopes of gaining more traction. Ha! It was not to be... After dumping muddy bikes and clothing, the riders ventured over to the American Legion Post 245 for dinner and door prizes provided buy some generous sponsors. Some

club awards were handed out and thankful words from the club to all the riders that keep coming back. Proceeds from this event are shared by different organizations and causes in the area. A future club meeting will decide where the funds will go from this year. I personally look forward to Bucky 8. It is one of my favorite rides of the year. I snuck my entry in last minute this year and almost missed the deadline. I won’t be so lax next year! Keep an eye on www.madisonmotorcycleclub.org for future info.

Great end to MotoCity Season

is one thing, but to battle with the boys is another. Brittany Gagne, “It can definitely be a challenge racing in the guys class. I’m always pushing myself to do better and love how competitive it is.” Gagne says that her dad always told her that racing with people who are faster, makes you faster. She has been racing now for thirteen years, and enjoys meeting all the great people within such a loving community.

olden red, orange and yellow leaves glimmered as the sun warmed the Staple’s MotoCity track on the morning of October 11th. Most would expect that with it being fall time that it would be another cold fall race weekend, but indeed it was quite the opposite. It was sunny and 75 degrees out. The riders or spectators couldn’t have asked for better weather to end the 2015 racing season in central Minnesota. Sunday’s race may have marked the end of the 2015 race season for some, but for MotoCity, it was the start to its 2016 Series. Racers attended from all over the Midwest, even traveling from as far as Montana. Brittany Gagne, was that dedicated racer. She first attended MotoCity during the 4th of July weekend, and enjoyed it so much that she made the 11-hour drive back. Gagne, 22 of Montana raced in three classes: Womens, 250B and 1424B. Battling with other women Clay Olson takes the holeshot in Open A

In the Women’s class, Gagne took the holeshot in both motos. Even though she found the new layout of the track to be a challenge, she pulled away and ended the day going 1-1. In the 250B class, after a good start in moto one, Gagne fell back a little but didn’t give up and didn’t let the boys push her around. A good battle developed for the top two positions between Ryder Hanninen and Austin Aspros. The two continued to fight till the finish. Second moto, things got a little crazy when Hanninen had a few mishaps, which allowed for Aspros to take the win. Trent Wittwer didn’t just let those two have all the fun up front and joined in the midst of the battle during both motos. Hanninen ended the day with a third overall. Aspros got first overall and Wittwer took second. It wasn’t just the big boys and girls having all the fun. In the 85cc 9-12 class, Curtis Biorn and Austin Speltz along with Avery Long were banging bars till the end. Biorn pushed Long the whole first moto with Speltz not far behind. Little did they know that Bryce Wadge wanted in the action too. Long pulled a little on Biorn and took the win, with Wadge to come in third and Speltz fourth. Second moto, Biorn looked down the line of bikes and didn’t see his biggest competitor Long. Once the gate dropped, Biorn took the holeshot and pulled away from Speltz and the other 85cc riders. Watching how far some of the younger riders have come this season alone is amazing. Some riders who were getting lapped and not jumping a single thing are now sticking with the rest of the crew. The Kadlec family would like to thank everyone for their support and look forward to seeing familiar faces this next spring. Fox Valley Off-Road GP Wedron, Illinois - October 17 Fox Valley Off-Road

I

t was a little chilly on this Saturday morning, but the sun was shining and everyone at this last weekend of 2015 racing at Fox Valley Off-Road knew this was going to be a great time. Temps continued to rise, and the weekend’s events kicked off right on time... with a fun filled District 17 GP race. If you had to go looking for a downside to the great weather, it would be that it left the trails pretty dry, but after a soaking wet spring, this was all good in the minds of the racers. Everyone got their practice time in, then Gerhard Ward, his family, and crew kicked off another day that lived up to expectations, as always. Open, sweeping wooded trails, lots of hills, a perfectly watered mx track, some grass, and two long motos for each class, exactly what this mix of riders came looking for. There were riders from all disciplines; motocross, trials, woods, and even

a few with hill climbing backgrounds. These GP events bring everyone together, and while it is a race... and everyone is competing for sure, fun is a huge factor in these events. Kicking off the day, District 23’s Hare Scrambles regular Miranda Tweeton had

a good run in the first moto of the Women’s class. Tweeton, “I got second on the holeshot and then passed the leader in the sand - she took the wrong way and from there I led the rest of the race. The course was pretty dry, with some really nice hills, up and down and a it was fun to

moto, Blaydes was out to make up for her ride. The hills are tough with the dry construggles in moto one. She ran on Tweeditions and rocks coming loose. I did my ton’s rear fender for the first two laps, then first GP a couple weeks ago in Minnesota slipped back just a little in the final laps, and it was really fun. Our season is done keeping it exciting all the way. Tweeton now, and we were going to come here for put in another flawless ride for the win. the hare scramble tomorrow and then saw Torress rode a smart race for third, good this was going on. We made the six and a half hour trip down last night to get here in time, and I’m really glad we did. I’d like to thank my dad for all his help and support!” Behind her, Autumn Toress ran in second pretty much the entire race. A good three lap battle was held between Allison Roland and Kimberly Blaydes. Blaydes made her way into third, just ahead of Roland on the second lap. They held that through lap three, but then on the last lap Blaydes ran into problems and dropped back to sixth. As Tweeton led #23 Bryce Olson and Brandon Larson had a great battle in both B class motos, here with Fox Valley OR’s Lexi Bedford. again in the second

for second overall. Morgan Wheelwright went 4-4 for fourth overall behind Blaydes (6-2). Miranda Tweeton’s father, Paul Tweeton had a good ride of his own, as he went 31 for second overall in the +40B/C class. The class was very competitive as usual. Craig Lee took the overall after winning the first moto, and finishing second in the next round. Also mixing it up for the podium, Jay Porter went 2-3 on his Honda. Steve Perkins topped them all in the +40A class, sweeping both motos. Brian Roland finished third in both motos behind Eric Wheelright. Fox Valley’s own Garrett Ward swept both motos of the fourteen rider C class on his Kawasaki. He led every lap, with the exception of the second lap in moto one, when Matthew Ott took over during a great three rider battle that included Doug Popper. Once back out

front, Ward was in control, and Popper ran into problems slipping to fifth. Eli Otterbach finished third ahead of Thor Rick. Matthew Ott after finishing second in the moto, “It was slick out there, and I got some arm pump. I had a great race, and it would have been better if I hadn’t have fallen. It was still a lot of fun.” Propper cleaned things up in the second moto, working past Ott in the third lap. He then held second behind Ward to the end, finishing second overall as well. Austin Beaty and Rick moved past Ott on that same lap to finish third and fourth. Ott’s 2-5 was still good for third overall. Austin Beaty came to Fox Valley OffRoad to take his first shot at racing something new, being more of a regular on the motocross track. Beaty, “I underestimated this, and had arm pump after a half lap. It was pretty technical, and I actually got lost for a few seconds here and there trying to learn how to watch the trails. I have woods around my house, but there’s some-

thing different about racing in them. There’s nothing you can’t ride through, it is just all different racing on trails and such. I’ll be back to do more for sure, if that says anything.” Beaty showed improvement as the day went on, finishing sixth in the first moto, then third his next time out. Doug Propper, after finishing second in the C class with the kids, went out and won his +50B/C class, going 1-1 ahead of Robert Baumer and Vernon Scholl. Gerhard Ward took time off from running the event to ride in +50A, and won both motos. DJ Ryan, Gary Rohr, and Orville Kline followed him across the line each time. In the B class, Alex Parks led with Brandon Larson on his rear for two laps. Then Parks opened a little gap, and Larson ran into problems with Bryce Olson slipping by. They finished that way with Michael Skrzypczak right there behind Larson in fourth.

In the second moto, Larson led early before Parks took over. Parks, “Larson was in front of me, and then I got by him on the second lap. I took the inside by the scoring area and made it around. I love the GP’s, and the course is great today.” Parks held the lead for the rest of the race, while Larson had a nice close ride with Bryce Olson that went right down to the finish. Larson after the finish, “Brice Olson and I had a lot of fun out there going at it. I started getting tired, and he is faster in the woods. Gerhard always puts on a good event and this was another one of them. I finished second, and I’m good with that, it was fun.” Olson gave him all he had every lap of the long moto. Olson, “Brandon and I had a battle right to the end. We were wheel to wheel the entire time. I made a last ditch effort over the last big log crossing and we came together. I almost went down and he held on, so it was good. I felt good in the

woods. This type of racing is fun with the woods and all, yet not as intense as a longer hare scrambles. I do as many of them as I can.” Cody Barnes took the overall in the A class. He won the first moto ahead of Benjamin Schmidt and Blake Ryan. In the

second moto, he had a much more challenging time. After not finishing the first moto, Ryan Smith held the early lead in this moto with Chase Robinson in second. Barnes made his way around Robinson in the second lap and then went after Smith. Illinois Powersports backed Smith,

“Cody was right on me. Usually I get some time on the moto track, but even there I wasn’t making much, and he was all over me through the woods. I was just being careful to hold my lines, and then when we got into lappers I used them best I could as well.” Barnes finished second, plenty good for the overall. Travis Ward was third overall after finishing 4-3 ahead of Blake Ryan’s 3-4 motos. Asked about his advice for someone who hasn’t tried a GP yet, Smith added, “I do the GP’s more now than motocross because of my work schedule, plus I like the little more relaxed, fun atmosphere compared to MX in the A classes. I would tell anyone to come out and give them a try. Most of the moto guys are like “no way” when talking about the woods, but the most you really need to do to the bike is bark busters. The woods are all open, and a lot of times there’s grass and motocross mixed in. Doing it all is just going to help make you a better rider.” Today was fun, no doubt about it. Good close racing as always, and plenty of smiles all around the pits. Many of the riders were staying over for the hare scrambles on Sunday, so no one was in a hurry, or rushing to get home. If you haven’t checked out a District 17 GP event, just go do it. Fox Valley Off-Road is as good a place as anywhere to give it a try. Lasecki. Yamaha rider Tyler Collins didn’t have the best first moto finishing fifth. In the second moto Collins had things figured out and took third for the moto, taking third overall making it a Yamaha sweep for the top spots. In the Open Two-Stroke it was as easy as 1-2-3. Sapienza took both moto wins and the overall ahead of Richard Fleming and Chanc Persons. After the races ended some of the riders brought their bikes out on the track and lined up across each other in front of the bridge. Not for some crazy race but for the wedding. I, James Pickard and Rollanda Johnson (winner of the Women’s class) got married on the bridge over the first turn. In moto style the preacher thanked everyone who came, friends and family and the LTM staff who did a great job setting things up and providing a great expe-

incoln Trail Motosports goes all out for their Rider Appreciation Weekend. Not only is it packed with events like the costume contest, trick or treating, games, and free food, there was even a Wedding! They also have something very few tracks could offer: Two full days of racing on three tracks! On Saturday the FLY Showdown raced on the Classic track. Many riders can’t wait till the classic track runs and that’s nothing new, they have been racing the track since 1973! Saturday night the racers moved to the pit bike track for some real race action. The pit bike track is crazy fun and safe for any size bike and any age rider, and under lighting allowing racing as late as everyone wants to run. Sunday the Bomber track hosted the last round of the Fly series. The bomber track named after Mark “The Bomber” Barnett, former factory rider who designed it. The track is fast and long, much different than the classic, giving a true variety and fun for everyone! Saturday the Classic track was in perfect shape. Cool cloudy weather kept it that way all day providing great racing. One rider who made the trip just to just ride the Classic was Seven/ Decal Works rider Joey Sapienza. Sapienza said “We already have plans for Sunday but came to race the classic track and for the wedding.” Sapienza made the best of his time by taking six moto wins and three overalls. In the 250B class Sapienza had his two-stroke Yamaha smoking! In the first moto Sapienza got a good start and went on to the moto win. KTM rider Nathan McClure took second with Yamaha rider Gage Noblitt third. In the second moto Sapienza again took the win. McClure had his KTM charging and put in a strong ride for second in the moto and overall. Third went to Tyler Collins, and after a forth in the first moto his score was good for third overall. In the Open B Sapienza picked up where he left off in the 250 class and took the first moto win. Yamaha rider Nick Lasecki took second with Nathan McClure third. In the second moto Sapienza turned in another win ahead of Joey Sapienza picked up six moto wins on Saturday. 42

rience. Thanks to Kathleen Gepford for great pictures, Tom Shelton for video, Drew Jackson for music and audio, Tim, Lisa, MF DB Chris, Mayana and all of our moto family for the thanks and support. After the wedding LTM had free food. And after everyone filled up on BBQ and cupcakes from the wedding we headed to the pit bike track. LTM handed out candy to kids of all ages and held the family costume contest. The pit bike racers were split into four classes based on size of bike etc. and of course the Buddy race. The Buddy race is just crazy with the riders changing every lap making for true madness! When it was over everyone had fun and the top three in each class received a cool trick or treat bucket for their efforts. When everyone woke up tired from a long day of racing and a late night of fun they were greeted by Bomber track that

was groomed to the point it looked like moto heaven. With this being the last LTM race it was not a time to relax. It was game on one more time! The 250C class was huge and ready to battle. In the first moto the Honda of Austin Hetzler found himself out front and under attack! Hetzler held on and took the moto win with Kawasaki rider Derick Bell second and Dakota Daugherty third. In the second moto it was a flat out war. Bell kept charging and held the lead till the end and took the moto and overall win. Second for the moto went to Hetzler (not Austin but Yamaha rider Caleb Hetzler) giving Caleb second overall after finishing fifth the first moto. Third in the moto went to KTM rider Dillon Cantrell but with a sixth in the first moto he finished fifth overall. Third overall went to first moto winner Austin Hetzler with his sixth in moto two. The Schoolboy 2 and +25B/C classes shared a gate for their motos. In +25, Suzuki rider Zach Hetzler took both motos and the overall win. Kawasaki rider Aaron Carter finished second both motos ahead of

Lance Patchett. In the Schoolboy2 class Yamaha rider Brody Beck was flying in the first moto taking the win. KTM rider Dillon Cantrell finished second with Honda rider Grant Shelton third. In the second moto Beck again had things covered and took win. Second went to Cantrell. Shelton, while running a solid third, went down at the top of the start whoops and had a hard time getting going. When he did, he kept his cool, rode smooth and moved into third by the finish taking third for the moto. Shelton, “I just slid out and killed it. I have not been riding for a while because of football and I’m really glad to be back at the track.” I’m sure part of the reason Grant is glad to be back to the track is that he gets to hang out with friends but also work with his dad, Tom. Motocross is something you never seem to get out of your system. How many times do we say “What ever happened to that guy?” talking about any rider that has not been at the track for a while. In the +40 class I saw a KTM with 00 on the plate and that guy was flying. A closer look

showed me it was long time Illinois fast guy Marty Vaughn. It’s great to see him back in action. When looking at the results there was another 00 at the track. Yamaha rider Mason Vaughn in the 50cc class. In the 50 shaft class first moto KTM rider Patrick Lyon took the first moto win with Brayden Cox and Corbin Durbin following across the line. In the second moto Lyon had his trick-looking KTM out front taking the win with Cox second. Third in the moto went to Honda rider Luke Lankutis, trading moto scores with Durbin giving Lankutis third overall and Durbin fourth. Fifth overall went to Kinston Vaughn and Mason Vaughn finished sixth. In the +40 class it was all Marty Vaughn. Vaughn took the first moto win with Honda rider Chanc Persons second and Dean Stouer third. In the second moto Vaughn again took the win, but second went to Honda rider Arek Kruk and with his fourth place in the first moto it set up a three way tie for second! Kruk finished second overall with Stouer third, pushing Persons to fourth overall. So at the end of the day the season came to an end. Congrats to all the champions and we will see you at the banquet. Then back at the track for more great racing in 2016 so sign up for your District card so you can get Cycle USA and count the days till the first gate drop.

D16 Hare Scrambles Finale Wisconsin Rapids, WI - September 20 Rapid Angels Motorcycle Club

T

he 2016 District Hare Scrambles season came to a close in Wisconsin Rapids, at the Dyracuse OffRoad Park, as it has the last few years. The Rapid Angles Motorcycle Club did an excellent job getting the course ready, and mother nature did her part by delivering a perfect day for racing. Rain a couple days prior had the sandy trails in excellent shape as well. It isn’t often everything comes together for any sort of off-road motorcycling, but this was one of those days. This event is known to be challenging. The sand gets rough, and also deep on the motocross track. When the afternoon two

hour bike race comes off the line, they venture further into the backside of the property, and are tested with some tight, rocky, and challenging single track sections. Mixed in with the wide two track, twisting trails, and open sections, the course is a favorite to many. That said, all are glad it comes late in the season when bodies have had a chance to “tune-up” for the test it is sure to provide. The race in the 85cc class was close for the entire hour. Hare Scrambles regular Travis Bloyer led with Jake Hunger and Brock Lueschow on his back wheel through the first two laps. Twenty-four minutes into the race, starting the third lap Hunger was back ten seconds, and Lueschow about another minute. In the third lap Hunger found a head of steam, caught, then and passed Bloyer for the lead. During the next two laps they swapped spots twice, with Bloyer leading at the end of lap four. Lueschow finished five laps, back about four minutes for third place ahead of Mark Backus. The battle over the win came down to a sixth lap, with only Bloyer and Hunger on the course, within seconds of each other yet. Bloyer, “It was pretty rough out there. We were back and forth a lot. I ended up getting the win after he missed a corner and then I got back out front.” Hunger after the finish, “It was fun out there and really rough. This is my first ever hare scrambles, I usually race motocross. I wasn’t sure what to do out there a lot of times, and messed up a lot. The trees and logs were harder than I thought they would be, but it was a good time. I was in second in the beginning, then I CYCLE USA, December 2015

chased him (Bloyer) down and got past. He was on me and we traded spots a couple times, and we had a real good race to the end.” Falen Narel got out front early on her Honda in the Women’s class, and never looked back. She was the only rider to finish six laps, as Autumn Czappa completed five laps for second place ahead of Mary Schmidt and Emily Backus. Nadia Ellingson put her Kawasaki to work, finishing three laps in just over an hour for the 65cc class win. It was her third win of the season to help wrap up the D16 Championship. Before racing resumed on the big course, the youngest of riders hit their own track to compete in the 50cc class. Topping them all was Walker Garetson. It was fun to be a spectator... the kids putting in laps, parents and family members getting just as much exercise as they ran around the course cheering on their little racers. Back to the big track for the hour long big bike race. C class rider Brian Saari wrapped up his day in second place, but it was enough to help him win the District 16 championship for the season. Saari, “The track was excellent. Years ago when I first started riding it was always in the sand, and then a couple years ago when I got my first race win in it was here in the 250C class. Today is just great, perfect weather and a great course put together by a bunch of great club members, so it is all

good. I missed two races this season, but hit as many as possible.” Saari ran just behind Jacob Noreen through the first four laps, and just missed the cutoff to go a fifth lap by a few seconds. Noreen, once out front in the second lap, led all the way to the end as Nick Jacobson, Jacob Sather and Jeremy Noreen rounded out the top five in the seventeen rider class. C class winner, Jacob Noreen, “I’ve raced a couple hare scrambles, but mostly moto. I like the woods, the course today was as good as it gets. It got rough, but that is to be expected. I bobbed a couple times, but once I was out front I just tried to carry momentum and get away from everyone. Standing up helps, actually it is everything out there.” Mixed in with the C class riders during the hour long race was the +50 class. They started in a separate wave of their own, then work up

into the others. KTM mounted Carl Jahns led off the start with Dean Hagemann in second. Coming through the pack quickly was Brad Kortbein. Kortbein, I had a bad start and tried to chase all these guys down. It was a blast out there in the sand. I finally saw him (Carl Jahns), and someone was hollering ten seconds ahead. I caught him in some of the sand out back, got around and he was on me to the end.”

Jahns after finishing second, “I got a good start and once we mixed in with the C riders mid-race, you sort of lose track of where you are at out there. I backed it off a little then had a guy come up past me. As he went by I realized it was Brad and that I had made a mistake. From there it was a race as I was looking for a chance to get back past him, but then the race ended. I was hoping for another lap but it wasn’t to be. The course was fast, and I kept looking for a little more power than my 200 was giving me.” In the afternoon two hour race, the well known Pete Laubmeier led every lap of the +40 class. He and motocross regular/ D16 President Todd Ellingson both completed seven laps. Greg Steffes finished third, running about six minutes back from Ellingson at the end of six laps. Moose Racing/ Fun Mart/ Flex Handle Bars backed Laubmeier, “The

scrambles riders from everyone. The club and volunteers had the course marked really well, and it was just a super event!” Team2/ Leatt/ MSR/ Braking/ Garne backed Jeff Schmidt after he took the A class win ahead of Pete Allen and Heath Drone. “I had a pretty good start and was behind a couple guys as we got into the woods. Once I got around them I put my head down and tried to ride smart. The trail was pretty beat up so I fell a couple times. I just tried to ride smart and do the best I could, and it worked out pretty good.” The battle over the AA class win was intense. Dylan Narel used his motocross speed to quickly get out front off the start and try to get away. Up and coming Hare Scramble regular Mason Amerling fell back by just over a minute in the first three laps, but then Narel’s pace slowed as Amerling kept Scott Krausse running in the getting faster. afternoon’s two hour B class race.

race was awesome, the sand was as good as it can get with all the rain we got a couple days ago. It was pretty fast, except for the billy goat path on the other side of the ridge... that really separated the good hare

Narel after the race, “The race went pretty well. I was like fourth off the start but got into the lead right away on the moto track. I led for a while until I got tired and the Yamaha rider (Amerling on the sixth lap) passed me. I stuck with him and then passed him back. I pulled a bit then he caught back up to me and we battled all the way... It was a super fun race that came right down to the last lap. We were pushing each other hard and it made it a great race.” Moose Racing/ Mike’s Motorsports/ West Bend Harley/ Pro Motorsports/ Scott/ Latitude Graphics supported Amerling, “I dropped in behind him off the motocross track and then eventually passed him in the technical stuff out back later in the race. He went back by me down the four-wheeler trail and I kind of let him go, thinking I would get tired if we kept that pace up. When I stopped for gas they told me how close I was, so I just put in a really fast lap to catch him. I was on him for a while before getting past again in a technical part where he was struggling. We were coming towards the finish on what I

expected to be the last lap. I could hear him on the inside of me and he just got into the side of me coming into a corner and I went down. We came to the finish line area and I was just done, then found out we had another lap to go (about two minutes left in the two hours). I stopped, and then Frank (Caballero) went by, and I went out just to finish the last lap.” Narel went on to take the impressive win as Frank Caballero finished second ahead of Amerling and Eric Mischler. The B class had nineteen riders, but clearly the fastest of the day was Joe Haasl. He got into the lead by the end of the first lap, and put in the fastest laps each time. Second place rider Cody Raduenz kept him honest, and the two put in an extra lap over the rest of the class, finishing seven. Hassl after the great ride, “I went down early, but worked my way back through the pack and came away with the win so it was a good ride. The track was fun.” At day’s end, there were some tired riders in the pits, but everyone had smiles. Everyone was pretty relaxed, knowing it

would be months before they got to participate in another District 16 Hare Scrambles. We overheard a conversation in the pits about ice racing... but had to walk away from it. While that season will be welcomed for sure, for now, we really wanted to just take in the great day of racing we had been part of. Until next season... train hard, get ready, and we’ll see you there. Have a safe off-season! Jason and Jared with their grandmother after a successful season.

W

hile we all run through a busy life, and as racers our pace is often even quicker - there are these special moments that happen around us, that are so cool. Fifty-six years ago, Howard Georgeson won a District 16 Hare Scrambles Championship. A year later, in 1960 he won a District 16 Hill Climb Championship, both happening in Wisconsin Rapids. Today, Howard’s grandchildren raced the Hare Scrambles. The youngest of the two brothers, Jason Georgeson raced in

the C class, wrapping up seventh place for the season. Jared, racing in the B class locked up the 2015 season’s District 16 Championship. How special is it that 56 years later, his grandchildren are racing here, the family is still involved in racing, and even better yet, wrapping up another championship for the Georgeson team. The entire family, including grandmother was there to be part of it. Marty, the father of these two boys and son of Howard summed it up best, “This is a once in a lifetime event for all of us.” That’s cool stuff for sure!

Dual Sport fun in the Kettles Newburg, Wisconsin - October 18 By Gordon Lunde

T

he 2015 edition of the Kettle Moraine Field and Forest ride excelled at offering a great dual sport ride for those that braved a cold morning start. A chilly 30 degrees at start time turned into a glorious fall day for the riders. Temps rose into the upper 50s, fall colors were near peak and offered a beautiful back drop to the trails. Many new off-road sections were welcomed by the riders, and offered some unique challenges. Three different private motocross tracks helped keep the ride interesting. Some properties are just simply beautiful to ride through at a slow pace and enjoy the scenery. Others very tight and technical, where you had no time for sight seeing, as you needed all your skills to navigate the route. The ride covered a large area of southeastern Wisconsin as it traversed over road and trail from Newburg to north of Random Lake and back. I personally spoke with three riders who tried this event as their introduction into

dual sport riding. All three had different backgrounds in motorcycling from road racing, ice riding and road riding. They all said they were now permanently hooked on dual sporting.

The Kettle Moraine Sport Riders deserve accolades for their hard work putting this ride together. I hope all the land owners will welcome the club and riders back for next year.
