Regattas & Major Sailing Events
As well as providing its members with one of the best club sailing calendars in the State, there are several standalone events that merit special mention and which sailors from the CYCSA, Adelaide and far-flung distant members of the sailing community have inked in their diaries every year.
Highlights of the CYCSA racing calendar include the South Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta (SAWKR), Queen of the Gulf Regatta, the Premier’s Cup Regatta, the Adelaide to Port Lincoln Race, and the Great Southern Regatta.
The ‘Yalumba’ Great Southern Regatta is held over a weekend and consists of two windward/leeward races and a long race. The event features some competitive racing, a barbecue and some great entertainment on Saturday night after racing.
The ‘Georges Family Winegrowers’ Premier’s Cup Regatta follows a very similar format to the Great Southern Regatta, again with two windward/ leeward races on the Saturday and a long Inshore race on the Sunday.
The South Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta (SAWKR) is held in the stunning waters of Gulf St Vincent. This Spring regatta is aimed at women currently participating in sailing, and looking to enjoy the company, competition and camaraderie of other female sailors.
