FROM OUR COMMODORE
Christmas came and went so quickly as COVID-19 still impacts on our lives and continues to interrupt our plans. Nevertheless, we are learning to live with it and that includes our Club following the best practice for our members and staff in mandating COVID vaccinations for all who wish to enter our facility. This may have caused some issues when implemented but it was deemed necessary to protect our members and staff. Despite this, our Club has had a very successful season with events that had previously been cancelled due to the pandemic now back on, albeit with some restrictions. Our much-loved Children’s Christmas Party and the fabulous All Association Christmas Bash was well supported by members. Thursday night members draws are very popular and while the racing season has had a few glitches, that was more due to weather than anything else. At the time of writing this article I am looking forward to Crabbing Day and there is planning under way for a very exciting event co-run by the Fishing and Social Associations. Stay tuned for more information. The Cruising Association is ramping up and looking for more committee members to run some past popular and fun new events. Volunteering by joining an association is a great way to get involved with our Club. Making new, and sometimes lifelong friends and having fun along the way is very, very rewarding. I am also looking forward to a time when the Club can have the popular ‘Sunday Sessions’ with dancing back on the agenda. I feel that good times are ahead as our Club continues to go from strength to strength under the great management of Adam and his team and the sound financial guidance of our Board. If anyone thinks they can contribute to the success of our Club then consider nominating for a position on our Board. I am happy to discuss the structure of our Club with you as would my fellow Flag Officers and Board Members. It is our aim to be inclusive and to keep members informed of what is happening at the Club so do not hesitate to approach one of us for an informal chat. In the meantime, stay safe.
