RANCH ESTATE
G UEST H AUS PROFESSIONAL WORK LUCE ET STUDIO 2021 - SAN DIEGO, CA The Ranch Estate’s first guest house intends to compliment the recently completed neighboring Main House while blending into the surrounding beautiful landscape. The green roof feature allows the board formed concrete structure to hide gracefully within the site context while viewed from the elevated Main House. The high FF&E budget and our clients eagerness to experiment allowed us to truly explore how unique furniture and fixtures could enhance the guest experience. I helped design, draw, and coordinate construction during all phases of the project.

SHIPPING CONTAINER SINGLE FAMILY HOME PROFESSIONAL WORK RIVES INTERIOR’S 2019 The client requested an offthe-grid residence built from a4 reclaimed shipping containers. The team and I worked to integrate the structural features and unique material character of the shipping containers, while designing withing it’s size and shape limitations. The facade balances the contextual style of the neighborhood and industrial aesthetic. The strategic openings cut out of the corrugated metal allow for optimal views and natural daylighting.

COLORADO LOFT RENOVATION PROFESSIONAL WORK RIVES INTERIOR’S 2018 The interior apartment renovation in Vail, Colorado took on the an industrial feel that embodied the expression of materials and structure. Pops of color were introduced on the furniture and appliances to juxtapose the raw nature of the steel and stone finishes. I modeled the project in rhino and rendered it using Vray for the clients understanding and critique.
MUSEUM RENOVATION IN BALBOA PARK PROFESSIONAL WORK LUCE ET STUDIO COMPLETED IN 2021 The MINGEI International Museum transformation in San Diego’s Balboa Park has been through a journey of collaboration, research, design, and community driven considerations. One of my contributions included iterating on and modeling the new sculptural stair tower feature. We decided the historical bell tower need to be re-celebrated with a unique twisting form. The concept was realized after various physical models, 3D printings, and computer aided models. My role also allowed me to build plan models that were used in client focused design charrettes.

B O R D E R S THESIS PROJECT FALL & SPRING 2020 Soft borders are influenced by many factors and take shape in our minds as they are perceived in different ways. Boundaries of all scales can be looked at as having the purpose of creating p r i v a c y, allocating recourses, c r a f t i n g i d e n t i t y, a n d providing security and s a f e t y. By exploring these 4 categories in architecture the thesis begins to break down how people interact in space. My program tests the idea that people of different cultures and disciplines working together and being forced to interact will help us find better solutions to our problems. How can soft separations between these people help promote collaboration, rather than limit it. Thesis Ad viso r: Edward Be cke r ( egb@ vt.e d u ) Thesis b o o k d o w n l o a d :

HOUSING DEVELOPMENT IN VIRGINIA BEACH INTEGRATED STUDIO SPRING 2019 In this integrated design studio we worked with Hanbury Architects and Pharrell Williams to design a master plan for a new housing complex that will join the larger scheme to connect social, institutional, and innovative new projects to Virginia Beach oceanfront and pier. My master plan gives a walking path back to the pedestrians that cuts through the whole site, by raising it above the trafficked streets. It also serves to connect the two main streets bordering the site. I focused on the central mixeduse apartment high rise which uses a prefabricated modular construction strategy. Each apartment unit has a central wet wall core that is expressed throughout the whole tower before piercing through the roof. Variation in the facade is achieved through the mirroring of each apartment module as they stack up the building.

SUMMER 2019 FutureHAUS is an innovative smart home of the future that strives to meet sustainability, accessibility, prefabrication, modular construction, and new integrative technology goals. The net-zero house was designed by a multidisciplinary team of Virginia Tech students who won 1st prize at the 2018 Solar Decathlon International Competition in Dubai. The house then went on tour to Blacksburg, Washington DC, and New York City. As part of the NYC building team, we efficiently packed the house on to four 18-wheeler trucks and then reassembled it in 3 days. The house was on display for New York Design Week in Times Square for 2 weeks before it was deconstructed and packed up again, in preparation for it’s next destination. We then went on to learn about wood construction methods and built the structure to be displayed and used in Cowgill Hall’s plaza.
