Re-forged by Love: The Healing Power of Living Mandalas andalas are very beautiful, aren’t they – Tibetan ones especially so. And you probably know something about how mandalas are used as aids to meditation, providing maps to and invocations of higher reality.

But imagine how it would be if you were actually inside one. And if it were not still but moving; not two dimensional, but multidimensional; not silent but resonant with glorious sound – your own sound; not just colourful, but vibrant with inner light; not made of sand or paint, but of living, breathing, loving humanity. How would you feel? What revelations would you receive?

Well, believe it or not, you can have that experience, in the modern world, right here in Britain, and that’s what happened to Geoff and I last week when we attended Jill Purce’s Healing Voice week-intensive. We knew we were going to learn to do overtone chanting and do some healing work, but we had absolutely no idea of the utter awesomeness of the experience we’d signed up for.

The magic of overtoning We did indeed learn and practise overtone chanting for the first two days – it’s not that difficult to learn, but practice is important. To start, you sing a note (a lowish one is better because then the overtones are more audible) and by changing the shape of your throat, mouth, lips and tongue, and using your nose and diaphragm as well as your mouth to push the sound out, you can produce higher sounds as well as the note you are singing.

Jill Purce says that, when we do this powerful vocal yoga and meditation, producing harmonic sounds which are uniquely in tune, it retunes the body – rather in the same way as playing a musical instrument helps to keep it in tune and maintain its tone. Whereas if you don’t play a musical instrument for a long time, it gets that painful ‘honky tonk’ sound and may need to be repaired as well as tuned, to restore it to its former resonance. So overtone chanting, which Jill pioneered in the West, can be highly beneficial for the body, even more so than ordinary singing.

Also, as we discovered, if you keep doing it, it changes the whole way your body resonates, meaning that both your singing and speaking voices can become much more beautiful and rich. The most wonderful thing we discovered about overtone chanting though was that, when you do it in a large group, the voices of all the other people have a powerful effect on

your own body’s ability to resonate, greatly accelerating the process of enriching the sounds your body can make. Also, when the group really gets going, you can hear these strangely beautiful and uniquely tuneful high-pitched whistling noises seeming to hover above everyone, without appearing to come from anyone in particular. A beautiful expression of our oneness.

Inside the mandala However, that was just the beginning!

After learning overtone chanting, we embarked on Jill’s unique 5-day healing mandala process. As we entered the sacred space where the mandala would be created, each of us was handed a coloured scarf which determined, completely at random (though reflecting, as it turned out, a higher order), at which position in one of

four circles of twelve people we would start.

Each circle had a colour, element and multiple meanings associated with it. The four circles of blue, yellow, red and green were arranged around a white centre – the place of White Tara – the Tibetan goddess of compassion, perfected wisdom and healing, to whom this particular one of Jill's mandala ceremonies was dedicated. Over five intense days of chanting and practice, each of us moved around one by one until we had occupied every position in each circle, including its centre, and had ourselves become White Tara.

Alchemical forges These spiralling human circles became alchemical forges in which the person at the centre of each circle was enabled – in a space filled with absolute trust, safety, wisdom and love – to confront in turn four afflictions that were troubling them and

transform them into blessings, doorways to a blissful sense of who we truly are: utterly whole, utterly loved and lovable, and utterly, all-encompassingly loving.

And as we moved we chanted – not just to invoke White Tara, but to become her, seeing ourselves as creators and uncreators of whole universes of enlightened beings, equally at home with oneness and duality, receiving and radiating her blessings towards all life, and especially towards the person at the centre of each circle.

The love machine It was such a feast of love and wisdom, and to have the permission and freedom to be our true selves for a whole week (because truly, all we are is love!), without any need to hide behind our ego-facades with all their fears, doubts, judgement, mistrust and separativeness, was truly liberating. At one point, Jill – with a little secret smile – called the mandala a ‘love machine’, and that’s exactly what it was! Also related to the Tibetan Book of the Dead, it was at the same time a map to the afterlife, a guide and a doorway to liberation in this life, a teaching on how the universe really works, and a healing – a wiping away of all our tears and sorrows. We were completely knocked sideways by the sheer genius of it all, so you can imagine how intrigued we were to find out how Jill conceived this stupendous gift to humanity.

A life’s work Jill’s story goes back more than 50 years to when, as a very young person, she developed an all-consuming interest in spirituality. Like many natural mystics, she felt strongly the teaching and healing power of nature, and was particularly fascinated by water, observing it closely to see how it moved and flowed, and how eddies and vortices formed and dissipated.

Instinctively she knew that many lessons could be learned from water, lessons that would provide wisdom on many levels. And indeed, as it turned out, her observations of water in motion and her understanding of spirals led to her book The Mystic Spiral: Journey of the Soul (1974), and gave her a perspective on mandalas that would literally revolutionize lives.

Music, meditation, and healing too, held a strong early fascination for Jill (her mother was a concert pianist and her father a surgeon), and in the early 70s she made contacts that proved pivotal for her life’s work, which blends together three main strands: an understanding of spirals and the rotatory principle in nature, art, spiritual traditions and psychology; a deep study of the wisdom of Dzogchen within Tibetan

Ann Napier discovers the magical work of Jill Purce Buddhism; and an unusual grasp of the human voice and its power to heal. Jill lived and worked for several years with the German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, who wrote a piece for six singers called Stimmung – the first ever Western exploration of vocal overtones. And she started studying with Tibetan lamas, as well as the umtse or chantmaster of the Gyoto monks.

So it was that, in the 70s, Jill began her pioneering work with overtone chanting and reconnecting people with the lost and forgotten power of their own voices. At the time, no one else was doing this, and her work, which she called Healing Voice, inspired a worldwide sound-healing movement which, as you probably know, is huge today. Until 2000 she worked with voice, ceremony, sound and shamanic healing methods to enable people to make massive changes in their minds and lives. These events often involved Jill undertaking quite energetic and vigorous shamanic practices with her students, so as to free them from the problems that were blocking their growth. But then, in 2000, although not while teaching, she broke her back and, while it was healing, she realised she needed to find a way of working with people that was gentler on her body.

Guided by water spirits An important part of her life was daily swimming (a practice she continues to this day), and she made it her habit while swimming to connect with the water spirits and dedicate her swims to some question to which she needed to receive an answer. One day, while swimming and holding the question of how she could find a less physically demanding way of working with people, a revelation began to dawn in her mind. She saw how, as a development of the first ceremony that came through her in 1984, she could develop a quite new form of ceremony, in which human beings themselves formed the various parts of a mandala that could then be used to transform, illumine and heal them. The more she swam, the more information downloaded, so that she had to keep swimming to the side of the pool to make notes in a soggy notebook. Afterwards, the more she reflected on this revelation, the more she realised how extraordinarily

profound it was, and how very many seemingly disparate teachings it connected and gave new meaning to. When she first told her students about it, they wondered what on earth was going on, but they stuck with it and found themselves participating in a transformatory experience quite beyond anything they had ever experienced before.

When she came home after giving her first ‘new-style’ healing voice week workshop, she went swimming and had the most extraordinary experience. The water felt clearer, more sparkling and silky somehow, so much so that she went to the swimming pool receptionist and asked what they had done to the water.

They replied that, just a few days ago (the day she left to teach the workshop), someone had accidentally taken the plug out of the pool and all the water had drained away for the first time in 25 years and had to be replaced. In a moment of stunned illumination, Jill realised that the water spirits, having stored their teachings for her in the water for so long, had now been liberated, allowed to return to source, having delivered their treasures to her.

Jewels for all beings And that’s how it works with all Jill’s mandala/healing voice workshops. Once the mandala has done its work, the people who formed it disperse, spreading the jewels they have received out into the wider world as an offering to all beings.

So what was the greatest jewel we gained from our mandala experience – the one we want to share with all of you? The awareness – more sure and certain than ever before – that our conditioned self (which some people call the ego) does not need to be a strait-jacket. It can be a cloak that we can simply shrug off at will, because we no longer need it. We can come to the party – which is what human life truly is – dressed exactly as we ARE! We’ll see you there.

Diving into the Mystery

Timothy Freke find it helpful to imagine life as a great ocean. When I’m only conscious of the surface of life, I seem to know what life is, which allows me to get on with my everyday experience. But when I reach below the surface of things, right down to the depths of life, I find myself immersed in the ‘deep mystery’.

The deep mystery isn’t a question we could one day solve. The deep mystery is the primal mystery that the universe exists and we are here to think about it.

It’s the great mystery in which we live and breathe and have our being.

And when we become conscious of the deep mystery ... the mystery experience spontaneously arises.

I

Deep awake When I bob along on the surface of things my experience of life is shallow.

But when I plumb the depths, my appreciation of what it is to be alive deepens. I become deep awake.

Normally we’re only superficially awake, but when we become conscious of the deep mystery, we become deep awake.

In the spiritual literature this awakened state is sometimes described as ‘enlightenment’ because it’s like being lit up from within.

I avoid the term ‘enlightenment’ because it’s become associated with the idea of an ultimate spiritual goal, only achievable by special people who give up everything and live in caves.

And this is very misleading because the deep awake state can be experienced by anyone ... even you and me.

Deep knowing Paradoxically, when I’m deep awake and immersed in the deep mystery, I find myself knowing something. But this isn’t ‘knowing’ in the normal sense of the word in which I know certain information about the world. It’s a much deeper knowing than that. So I call it ‘deep knowing’.

In the Western spiritual tradition this deep knowing is called ‘gnosis’. Gnosis is directly knowing the essence of things.

It’s the big answer to the big question of life. This answer is not in the form of a collection of words. It’s an immediate realisation, unmediated by concepts.

It’s like having the most profound thought ... only without a thought.

Deep knowing transforms my experience of living because it gives rise to a quiet confidence that, despite appearances, life is good.

When I become deep awake, I have an unshakeable faith that fundamentally all is

well. Even when things are rough on the surface, at the depths of life I experience a primal joy of being.

The universe vision is the profound recognition that essentially all is one.

This is not a bland experience of monolithic oneness. It’s a profound experience of the variety of the universe.

When I experience the universe vision I find myself appreciating the multifarious variety of life as an expression of one mysterious essence.

On the surface I appear to be a separate individual but at the depths of my identity I am one with all that is.

It’s seeing that on the surface of life everything is separate, like waves on an ocean, but at the depths, all is one.

Deep love When I know I’m essentially one with all, there is a profound sense of connectedness to life that I experience as an all-encompassing love. It’s the feeling that arises when I’m conscious of both the surface separateness and the deep oneness.

Deep self When I become deep awake I see that I am much more than the person I appear to be on the surface of life. There’s a deeper level of my identity, which I call the deep self.

When I bob along on the surface of life I don’t notice the deep self, but it’s always there. It’s a permanent presence, which is always present, witnessing the everchanging dramas of my superficial self.

The superficial self is what I appear to be.

But the deep self is what I am ... my mysterious essence ... my ineffable spirit ... my naked being.

And when I become conscious of my deepest being I discover I am one with all beings.

I see that as separate individuals you and I are like different waves on one great ocean of being.

Universe vision When I’m conscious of the depths as well as the surface of life, I experience universe vision.

The word universe comes from universus meaning ‘all together’ or ‘turned into one’.

Maddy Harland o me being green isn’t solely about renewable technology or organics or permaculture. We may get involved in these aspects of being green, but they are not the whole story.

Something has happened to me. I have fallen in love.

It didn’t happen overnight. It has been a gradual, lifelong immersion. It started by becoming aware of different species – the wonder of the lifecycle of amphibians, to be precise – and progressed to gardening and the wonder of seeds and growth. Then out into the landscape and the sense of being held and nurtured within the folds of hills and valleys, the beauty of rivers, the power of the sea.

Then a sense of communing with the Earth as a being. I fell hopelessly in love. When we are merged with our beloved, their wellbeing is our primary concern. Whilst there is great joy and appreciation for the beauty of our miraculous planet, there is also growing awareness of the shadow: the terrible destruction of ecosystems, the extinction of countless species, the insanity of war, the awful displacement and starvation of whole nations,

Martin Luther King described a world where his children would be judged by the content of their character, rather than the colour of their skin.

The idea that an African American citizen could become President of the United States would have been dismissed as dreaming, but Martin Luther King’s dream became the reality created by the community, voting for their vision.

Bronnie Ware ver the years I’d lived from one leap of faith to the next. I hit the road with nothing but a tank full of petrol and an intention to move somewhere cooler for a while. The back seat of the jeep had been removed and replaced with a mattress. Being nomadic, I had friends all over the place.

Living on leaps of faith Having lived on leaps of faith before, I knew that if I was going to will something to me through faith alone, I had to get my head out of the way. Unhealthy patterns surfaced in my mind, my past conditioning and society telling me I couldn’t live this way. There is no better place to face your fears than in nature, where you can get into the true rhythm of life. I headed into the bush. Lying in the jeep that night, the curtains open, frogs singing on the river, under a blanket of a million stars, I smiled. I didn’t have food beyond a few days but I was free as they come.

When my fears were sleeping, I enjoyed wonderful days eating simple wholesome food, swimming in the cleansing crystal clear river, watching wildlife come and go, listening to birdsong, and reading. It was a reverent time, spacious and beautiful.

Letting nature weave its magic Fears were starting to rage in me about my situation. I took a deep breath, trying to stay present, and trying to find a solution. Each time I did this I challenged my fears head-on, and somehow I always landed on my feet.

As I watched the high tide wash out, I remembered the importance of letting go and allowing nature to weave its magic.

The same force that balances the flow of the tides and creates life, was capable of bringing the opportunity to me I needed, but I had to let go first. The only thing to do was surrender and see where I landed.

Hand it over to a greater force Surrender is not giving up, far from it.

Surrender takes an enormous amount of courage. Being able to accept there is absolutely nothing you can do, other than hand it over to the greater force, is the catalyst that opens the flow.

The next morning I headed down the rocks to the water, where dolphins at play greeted me at sunrise. Emotional exhaus-

Living True To What Matters tion had worn me out, but watching the dolphins play, I absorbed the new dawn and gently allowed myself to be refuelled by hope.A few days later, a job was offered to me, caring for the dying. It was only by surrendering and staying present that the job opportunity flowed my way; caring one-to-one for clients until they passed.

The energy of dying people is so weakened that an outing is like working an 80hour week lifting bricks. It completely drains them. John sighed: ‘I wish I hadn’t worked so hard Bronnie, what a fool I was.’

John’s wife died three months before he retired. He longed to be travelling and laughing with her now. ‘I was petrified to leave work sooner,’ he said.

All I really wanted was my own kitchen and the privacy to be in my own space.

Diana Ackerman railing plastic tubes, Paul made his way across the room. I was struck by how the body looks like a sea creature, a jellyfish with long tentacles, a gelatinous animal full of hidden symmetries, lagoons, sewers, and spongy stringy bits; but mainly salt water.

He had been cleared to leave the following morning. ‘We escape at dawn!’ he stagewhispered.

The prospect made us both giddy. For three weeks he’d had a kidney infection that had waxed systemic, one of those staph bugs older than sharks or gingko trees.

I’d been on book tour when Paul was hospitalised, and so I curtailed my travels to fly straight home. The magic glory of the brain was still on my mind.

Every evening we watched the setting sun’s hallelujahs beyond the sealed window and ached to go home.

Then came the lightning strike.

Paul shuffled out of the bathroom and stood at the foot of the bed, eyes glazed, his face like fallen mud. His mouth drooped to the right and he looked asleep with eyes that gaped in alarm.

‘What’s wrong?’

He moved his lips a little, making a sound between a buzz and a murmur. For a moment I thought he might have a mouthful of bees. Then my spine filled with ice.

Time and space rotating around us A decade before, Paul had had a Transient Ischemic Attack, a brief stoppage of blood flow to the brain, igniting symptoms that often predict a stroke. I recognised the blurred speech and rigid face. Anything but that! I thought.

A doctor on duty rushed in, methodically brisk, shockingly calmer than I was.

‘Can you smile?’ he asked Paul.

He couldn’t. ‘Can you speak, tell me where you are?’ He couldn’t.

‘Can you raise your arms?’ He couldn’t.

Sirens started wailing inside me. I knew those quick questions for a stroke. Don’t leave me! I silently pleaded. Instead, time and space did, rotating around both of us.

Our life revolved around words Tests revealed that he’d had a massive stroke. In the cruelest of ironies for a man whose life revolved around words, who had one of the largest working vocabularies on earth, he had suffered immense damage to the key areas of his brain and he could no longer process language in any form. Global aphasia.

Where was the tutelary angel who’d descend at such times and restore the everydayness of things?

Longing for a Prophecy Was I getting used to his not speaking? I longed for a prophecy from the stroke specialist, a little certainty at a time of agitated doubt, fear and bewilderment.

I noticed how my own voice had changed, losing some of its sharp peaks and gaining firm new ridges. My phrases were smaller, slower, clumsy, not light and dancing. But I savoured the delicious warm touch-ribbons of silent affection uniting and comforting us, even when words failed.

Could I continue to woo life, despite abysmal sadness? How tempting to live in limbo and wait for my real life to return. But this was my real life now.

Life is a thing that mutates without warning.

‘All part of the adventure,’ I repeated like a

mantra. At times it felt like a hoax, other times it became a balm of understanding to spread across a mind in misery. Like hope, or faith.

When I returned to the hospital I found Paul listless. ‘Die,’ he said. My spirits sank lower.

I warned the speech therapist in a whisper that he was feeling low and didn’t want to live. ‘Ready for speech therapy today?’ she asked anyway. He nodded a resigned yes.

She didn’t expect to see her patients recover; that wasn’t the nature of her work.

She smiled the smile of someone wedded to the incomplete. Paul responded to her ease and expertise.

We had been warned that a window of opportunity would close three months after Paul’s stroke. What would life be without hoping that he may one day recover some lost skills.

One sunny morning in June I found Paul waiting for me, looking eager and excited, perched like a professional, despite his hospital gown. ‘I have a s-s-surprise,’ he spluttered with effort. Smiling proudly he straightened his shoulders, lifted his chin, then proclaimed, ‘I speak good coffee!’ I must say I was a bit bewildered. ‘Coffee?’

He nodded. ‘No,’ he said laughing. ‘I speak wonderful English. There’s a big difference,’ he said gingerly. Since the stroke I’d never seen him so hopeful so fluent. ‘You’re talking!’ We grabbed hands and squeezed hard.

A lightness beyond words Before the stroke, swimming in the pool had offered him a lightness beyond or before words, a different kind of trance from the one in which he wrote in his star-crazed hours. He used to quip that the pool was more lucid than he was.

Climbing down the ladder, balancing in the water, treading water was welcome physiotherapy for his body. As the waves oscillated happily around him, he rested his tired eyes and mouth. Floating on pale blue surges, Paul found access to a mystical realm, an out-of-body weightlessness he blended with. I took heart in watching him smile, with inexpressible pleasure.

In the five years since Paul’s stroke he has re-loomed vibrant carpets of vocabulary. The pool is no longer the only place where he is happy. His creativity has returned. When a French journalist emailed him questions about his novel The Place in Flowers Where Pollen Rests, he could answer them.

Living with Paul is like living with a koan, taught by Buddhist sages. One has to shed logic, bend reason, to interpret.

Pierre Pradervand presents: his morning early, while making my fruit salad, the sentence ‘All is well, all is well, all is very, very well’ continued playing through my mind.

I was suddenly reminded of a very beautiful booklet I read years ago, Enfolded in Love: Daily Readings with Julian of Norwich. Despite the name, Julian was a woman, later sainted by the Anglican church. She lived in the 14th-15th centuries, and her book Revelations of Divine Love, is believed to be the first book ever written by a woman in English. Here are a few statements which brought me such incredible peace, both in general and also in relation to Roger McGowen’s situation (see Messages of Life opposite).

He will never let us go All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well He is our clothing. In his love He wraps and holds us. He enfolds us for love, and He will never let us go.

He showed me a little thing, the size of a hazelnut, in the palm of my hand, and it was as round as a ball. I looked at it with my mind's eye and I thought, ‘What can this be?’

And the answer came, ‘It is all that is made’. I marvelled that it could last, for I thought it might have crumbled to nothing, it was so small. And the answer came into my mind, ‘It lasts and ever shall be because God loves it’. And all things have been through the love of God. In this little thing I saw three truths. The first is that God made it. The second is that God loves it. The third is that God looks after it.

Rest in the goodness of God What is He indeed that is maker and lover and keeper? I cannot find words to tell. For until I am one with Him, I can never have true rest nor peace. I can never know it until I am so close to Him that there is nothing in between.

The best prayer is to rest in the goodness of God, knowing that this goodness can reach right down to the lowest depths of need.

He who made man for love will by the same love restore him to his former blessedness – and yet more. The love that God most high has for our soul is so great that it surpasses understanding. No created being can comprehend how much, and how sweetly, and how tenderly our Maker loves us.

God is the still point at the centre There is no doer but He. All this He showed me with great joy, saying ‘See, I am God. I am in all things. See, I do all things. See, I never take my hands off my work, nor ever shall,

Julian of Norwich (c.1342 after 1416) was the first woman writer in English.

Nothing is known of her background or even her real name. On 8th May 1373, when seriously ill and apparently dying, she received an extraordinary series of 'showings', or revelations from God. After her miraculous recovery, she spent many years pondering the significance of the showings, which she believed were messages for everyone. They taught, among other things, that God is our mother as well as our father, that he cannot be angry with us, and that no one will be damned – doctrines which Julian had great difficulty in reconciling with the church's teachings. The beauty and originality of her writings are as fresh as if they were written yesterday. How wonderful, still to be able to study at the feet of a renowned mystic and spiritual adviser who lived more than 600 years ago!

God wants us to know that He keeps us safe through good and ill. We shall see God face to face, simply and wholly.

He turns all things to the good I saw in truth that God does all things, however small they may be. And I saw that nothing happens by chance but by the far-sighted wisdom of God. If it seems like chance to us, it is because we are blind and blinkered.

Constantly and lovingly He brings all that happens to its best end. All that is done is well done for it is done by God. When a soul holds on to God in trust – whether in seeking Him or contemplating Him – this is the highest worship it can bring.

We are His joy, His reward, His glory, His crown. It is God's will that we should rejoice with Him in our salvation, and that we should be cheered and strengthened by it.

He wants our soul to delight in its salvation, through His grace. For we are the apple of His eye; He delights in us forever, and we shall see in Him, by his grace.

We are forever safe He says this: ‘Pray inwardly, even though you find no joy in it. For it does good, though you feel nothing, see nothing, yes, even though you think you cannot pray. For when you are dry

and empty, sick and weak, your prayers please me, though there be little enough to please you.

All believing prayer is precious to me.’

Sometimes it seems we have been praying for a long time and still do not have what we ask.

But we should not be sad.I am sure that what our Lord means is that either we should wait for a better time, or more grace, or a better gift.

I saw that God never began to love mankind.

For just as mankind is destined to come to endless joy, and so crown God's delight in His work, so man in God's thought has always been known and loved. From Him we come, in Him we are enfolded, to Him we return.

In this endless love, man's soul is kept safe as these revelations set out to show. In this endless love we are led and looked after by God and never shall be lost.

When we fall, He holds us lovingly, and graciously and swiftly raises us up. In all this work, He takes the part of a kind nurse who has no other care but the welfare of her child. It is His responsibility to save us. It is His glory to do it, and it is His will we should know it. Utterly at home, He lives in us forever.

He did not say: ‘You shall not be tempesttossed, you shall not be work weary, you shall not be discomforted’. But He said: ‘You shall not be overcome’. God wants us to heed those words so that we shall always be strong in trust, both in sorrow and in joy.

MESSAGES OF LIFE from Death Row Pierre Pradervand

What is humanity?

Humanity is an idea. So personal characteristics within that idea determine the parameters within the program that is running in your consciousness.

To cease identifying with humanity is to be free of all human afflictions and retain consciousness of Your Divinity.

What is the cause of human suffering?

Human suffering is due to the limiting agreements that humanity defines itself with: most agree humans are mammals, possess only five senses, need air to breathe, are subject to gravity, are limited by the form of the body and its senses and must walk to ambulate. They agree that they require food, shelter and water, believing they are separate individuals, have gender, reproduce sexually and are prone to disease, suffering and death. They react to the impulses of a conditioned brain and finite mind, so they are restricted to verbal and other physical means of communication. Believing in linear space and time, they age and are thus mortal.

They depend on others for their happiness and agree they must work to earn money for survival. They think they are limited to a single body, conform to norms of pleasure and pain, and are susceptible to the morality of good and evil which, in their own mind, makes them sinful and imperfect, because they believe they are their body. They have sexual preferences, believe in punishment and are competitive on a world where ‘survival of the fittest’ is conformed to.

Having never left Earth, they still insist they are the dominant species in the universe and superior to even one another, while requiring recognition for their accomplishments, talents, physical attributes, nationality and race.

They are affected by others’ actions, emotions, and feelings, so they believe they are victims.

They are political, hierarchical and directed primarily by the intellect and its judgments, thus they are opinionated and arrogant, living predominantly according to logic rather than love or compassion. They are subject to social conditioning where most of them are conformists, criticizing and glamorizing others while striving for autonomy and individual purpose in order to feel special. They resist pain and pursue pleasure, so they are mostly consumers, or ‘takers’ and they deny their divinity.

That’s amazingly accurate, I have to say.

These beliefs, though you do not consider them frequently, are nestled away in your memory and fasten you to the collective human consciousness, along with other agreedupon limitations of form. Thus, by your identifying with humanity, you not only place your self within this category of restrictions, you also abide by these influences upon you. Yet, by fully dis-identifying with humanity, in a stroke, you are free from this bondage.

What is a person or human then?

Have you ever looked at the image of a person

Are We Human? Or More Than Human? on your television? From a distance they can appear so real that you become emotionally attached to the characters or absorbed in the story. Yet, upon closer inspection, one finds these images are just arrangements of pixels or specs of colour that one willingly agrees are real for the sake of being more thoroughly entertained.

Similarly, people and all objects are compositions of atoms, or three-dimensional pixels in a holographic consciousness, being even more persuasive due to three-dimensionality and fivesense involvement rather than the two senses of sight and hearing that one utilizes while perceiving a two-dimensional television screen. have you noticed that movies are more elaborate and entangling when the volume is on rather than when it is muted? Now consider this with all five senses engaged and the dimension of depth and space.

Well, if I’m not a person or even human, then what am I? The Impersonal Awareness out-picturing as a human.

How can the Impersonal Awareness make me appear human?

You are the infinite intelligence out of which the idea and complex human image emerges, expressing within the confines of diversity human beings call reality.

This human idea or contextual bubble is within I AM, just as a bubble is in the ocean, so these bubbles are contained by and completely dependent on the ocean for their existence. Each

of these bubbles has imaginary boundaries, allowing it to appear isolated while never actually being separate from the ocean. I use the word ‘bubble’ metaphorically because these contexts are not physical bubbles, but ideas, so one can have bubbles within bubbles, or in this case, ideas within ideas.

For instance, you are an idea within Your True Self or I AM. This I AM is Infinite, the first and Greatest Idea, yet, although you exist as an idea inside the One, you may also possess other ideas.

In this sense, I AM is the Dreamer of you and you are the dreamer of yet others, which also dream and so on infinitely. Since Your very essence is creative, each thought You have creates a universe within a universe, like flowers that blossom from within other flowers of the same stem.

Each of these ideas are dreams that express like a pulse within the I AM, where you are a character in Your own dream and even capable of dreaming that You are dreaming; thus, by this, You will awaken to the Truth of What You Really Are. At the end of each pulse there is a pause, not in time, but relative to expression, like the Presence that arises in between successive thoughts. This pause has no time, nor space, yet It Is. After this pause You will express another idea within the Great Idea – I AM – for the pause at the end of each Cosmic Breath is one in endless cycles of experience of which this one is coming to an end, before the next, when you will no longer think you are human, but Know that You are God and that you have been expressing as a living attribute of the constant and unchanging Absolute Presence I AM. Therefore, You are the Infinite and the finite, the Eternal and the temporal, and like a hologram, you are one of Infinite Light particles, each possessing All that the Light Source does. You are as both My Image and Likeness – that is, you are within My Imagination and you express Like I do while pretending to Be exactly what I AM expressing as an individual personality.

Will You help me to know this?

Certainly. Yet first you must know that you are aware. Is there a difference in the awareness that is inside the body, and the awareness that is outside the body?

No. So the awareness is the same awareness, whether inside the body or outside the body?

Yes. Now if they are the same awareness, both inside and out, then both inside of the body and outside of the body are within the same field of awareness.

Okay.

This living field of awareness is God, the I AM that You Are. And when You are not identified with the myriad of thought forms in that awareness, You become aware as the Awareness.

I can feel that I AM the Awareness.

Yes, You Are The Formless Awareness.
