Czarina Flora Mae Dolot is a student from STM21 in De La Salle University - Dasmariñas Senior High School Department. She has been a long time media user, and she wants to impart five (5) characteristics that best describes her as a user of media and information. This presentation can also help make your media life more beautiful.
RESPECTFUL
who am i 1 1
There is nothing better than being respectful in any situation. Always remember that when we interact with our friends, family, or one individual through media, they do not become robots; they are still human beings with feelings. Czarina often reminds herself to be extra mindful of her word choices, especially when someone asks for her opinion, and she believes that it is a good practice for everyone to have in order to avoid hurting others.
CRITICAL THINKER
The media is our primary means of communication, and we cannot deny the fact that not everything we see in the media is true. Czarina have a habit of doing fact checking first by doing research whenever she encounter posts — especially controversial posts — to prevent being eaten up by misinformation, which may be dangerous at times, especially if it is health related.
RESPONSIBLE
When Czarina posts something on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media platform, she always double or triple check what she is going to post before hitting the post button. We must always be attentive of our actions and consider whether they are beneficial and inspirational to the people who will see our posts. Everything we publish on social media influences or determines who we are, so we must always be cautious of what we post, especially if we are influencers with a much larger audience.
Czarina believes that media should be used to spread positivity and happiness. Media is supposed to be one of our sources of entertainment or an escape from reality, therefore it should be used to boost and increase one's self confidence rather than the other way around When she comes across a funny or uplifting message on her newsfeed, she shares it with her friends in order to make them smile and perhaps brighten their day.
As a part of an organization, Czarina and her colleagues are responsible for creating publication materials for their Facebook page and Instagram account, which requires creativity. Not just for the visualizers but for the captions as well. They always try to put a lot of effort into it and make it catchy to a lot of people. Also, individually, whenever she comes across fantastic and stunning works of media while scrolling through her phone, it inspires her and puts it to her learnings, particularly in editing.
Media changed people's lives. We use it as a platform to disseminate information around the world and to keep people informed of important events and happenings. The media can still provide us false and inaccurate information, so it still depends on who uses it or what we choose to believe in. The purpose of the media is to enlighten and educate us, but due to our careless behavior, it is becoming toxic to us. As users, we must take precautions in what we share and post on different media platforms and keep in mind that a single click can have a significant impact on a large amount of people.
editor's enote ditor's note
Dear Readers,
I am pleased to introduce the E-Magazine I designed for our Media and Information Literacy class. It contains a compilation of my works in this subject, as depicted on the magazine's cover, and in this way, you will get to know me better.
As you browse the pages of the magazine, you will see the works I worked really hard on. Every piece tested my creativity and uniqueness, but I am grateful because each work shaped me to become a better designer and critical thinker.
With all of these tasks, I learned that we must identify which application or software we are most comfortable designing. I experimented with numerous applications, including Picsart, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, and many others. After going through all of that, I am more at ease using Canva. It has a lot of templates and elements to select from, but I decided to design one without using any templates to challenge myself. I looked for inspiration online and I really adore the vibe of real magazines, such as Vogue, because it gives a cleaner and more elegant look. I also used Zepeto, a platform where you can create 3D avatars, to make it look cuter and more interesting. I customized its character to look exactly like me including my clothes and accessories.
Given the magazine's style, I hope you will also read its contents. There is so much to know, so much to explore, and so much more to discover and I hope everyone will like it.
Thank you.

The evolution of media, media convergence and digital convergence undoubtedly shaped (for good and/or for bad) the values and norms of people and society. If that didn't happen, how do you think we'd live so differently today?
Learning and understanding text and information media can help an individual convey his or her thoughts precisely and creatively by knowing design principles and elements. This can also assist an individual in determining what type of format he or she will use when saving the data that makes up a file that she created, as well as knowing what is safe and what is not. Aside from that, this can also enhance one's literacy skills which is very important, just like what the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) said, "Literacy is for individuals, families, and societies alike, it is an instrument of empowerment to improve one's health, one's income, and one's relationship with the world." (UNESCO, 2003). Media and information literacy also assists in the development of essential skills which are all beneficial to an individual such as self expression, critical thinking, creativity, and analyzation abilities. I believe these skills are essential in my strand which is Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), particularly when creating infographics, posters, and publication materials, as well as in my desired college course, Architecture.

To show that you have what it takes to be a good producer of text information and media, you need to put your knowledge into practice.
In every activity you carry out with media, you use your skills and knowledge to make the best of it whether it is print media, broadcast media, or new media. For this M&M, you will create a flow chart that presents the step-by-step use of media and what literacy is being manifested in each step.

With the occurrences where social media seems to be the life of many, it is challenging to manage and filter useful information. We respond differently to different digital issues we encounter. Despite our differences, we still share a common mission the Lasallian mission.
