As Black History Month is an annual observance, our d-mars. com media platform hosts the highly-anticipated, yearly tradition of the d-mars.com Top 50 Black Professionals and Entrepreneurs Awards. We take pride in this event honoring African Americans who continue to achieve greatness, not waiting for opportunities, but creating them. Madam C.J. Walker said, “I had to make my own living and my own opportunity. But I made it! Don’t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them.” This year’s honorees are great achievers who not only created opportunities for themselves, but also for others to succeed.

This diverse and outstanding group of talented individuals is full of corporate executives, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit leaders who understand that “microwave success” is not a reality, but true and lasting success takes faithfulness to follow the process that leads to prosperity. This continuous progression involves selflessness, sacrifice, and fortitude to brave the valleys along the path. Reading through this year’s bios of our impressive honorees, we should all be motivated to do more, not only in business, but also for the communities in which we live.

In the heart of each deserving honoree is persistence and the patience. Each honoree has an awareness that challenges are not a sign to desist, but a lesson preparing you for the next level that is leading you to your destiny. I am proud, as I am every year, to recognize our Top 50 Black Professionals and Entrepreneurs for their strength, courage, and tenaciousness to create their own opportunities. Each individual recognized is the embodiment of Black excellence, being a beacon of light that paves the way for others to follow.
