Volume 4 Issue 4 July Edition

July 2016 What’s good Penguinos? It was a great kick off early in our term at OTC! Getting to see some fresh faces that are ready for the new year. It was great having the chance to meet and present for some of you this year. I personally can’t wait to see the growth in our division and that starts off in our basic foundation, our clubs! I hope all you are enjoying the last few months of summer and are getting mentally prepared for the beginning of the school year. See y’all soon!

On July 9th, Key Club of Santiago High School attended Officer Training Conference at University of California, Riverside. Six newly elected officers mostly did not have any experience as an officer. Therefore, we thought this conference would be really helpful for us to know and learn about our position. After the conference, not solely about our position and duties, but we were also able to learn more about Key Club itself. Even officers who attended OTC last year were also able to learn new information about their new position. OTC was also a wonderful opportunity to meet other officers from other high school. We met officers from Centennial High School and discussed about future cooperation for future events since two schools located close to each other. Even though we are still little afraid of our new year as officers where we have to follow and complete the duties we learned at OTC, we are also excited to follow and complete those duties to make our Key Club more active! 6 North Penguins to the Rescue

Officer Training Conference at UCR was a blast! Whether your time was spent trying to catch 'em all in the newly released Pokemon Go, or you were actually paying attention to the training, I think that we all accomplished something that day. All kidding aside, the superherothemed training was a valuable experience to both me and my friends as we transition into our officer roles. I noticed smiles on their faces as they learned more about how to effectively perform their duties while simultaneously making connections with other school's officers. I'm glad we shared this experience and I know it'll help make our year ahead will be a great one! Benjamin Terao
