This November was filled with the Division 6 South spirit! First we had our annual fall rally at Six Flags and although we encountered many tribulations, the D6 South family enjoyed the trip towards the end, thanks to our contagious and never-ending spirit. We would like to give thanks to all the seniors who went to their last fall rally and hope they prosper in their future. Our next event was DCM, which was held at yours truly, Chaparral High school. D6Southers from Linfield all the way to Rancho came together to discuss future events, such as DCON, and to bring about our new district number, which has not been finalized. We expect many volunteering opportunities for Chaparral Key Club members and fun D6 South events in the upcoming month. Written by: Sunny Lim | Chaparral

Fall Rally EXPERIE NCE

Christmas Service

Heritage Key Club had many Christmas events as we come to the ending of the first half of the school year. Throughout November we sold Rafiki Bracelets, from the Me to We program. These were made by women in Kenya, and the money benefited various We Villages. There were 6 different colors to choose from, each one donating to a different cause such as Food or Education. On December 6th, we held another successful blood drive with a festive theme. Volunteers made Christmas decorations, such as wrapped boxes and paper Christmas trees, before the blood drive. There were plenty of new faces, which is good so many different Key Clubbers can experience helping with a big event. Heritage members also participated in the Kiwanis Fundraiser at the Old Town Parade and the Menifee Christmas Tree Lighting. Before everyone checks out for winter break, we are scheduled to go to help with the Kiwanis Rose Float on December 28th.

“The fact it was my first Blood Drive, it was definitely a lot of fun. It was cool to help out anyway I can, so I was given the job as a runner. It was interesting talking to all these people who had just given blood, and it was cool to see all these people helping out even though they might have no clue how big their donation could really be. I also got to meet some new faces, and made a lot of new friends whether it be the people I helped take back to class or the blood drive volunteers. Another event that was really memorable was the Christmas Tree Lighting event in the Menifee Town Center. I got to do a whole list of jobs whether it was helping out at Arts and Crafts, being like a pseudo-police guard, taking out the trash, etc. The event as a whole was really fun to watch, and watching the little kids make arts and crafts was probably the highlight of that day. They were making little reindeer ornaments, and it was fun just watching them create something and be proud of their creation. Overall, both events were really cool to participate in, and it’s mind-boggling how little of time I spent made such a difference. Whether it was watching people literally saving lives or just getting a compliment, it was cool to be part of it.” –Christ Basilan, Senior Rep Written by: Chris Lam | Heritage

On November 18th, the November DCM was held at Chaparral High School. Before the service event took place, the attendees participated in icebreakers to establish a more comfortable feeling. People began to converse and start friendships. Pizza, a great socializer, was eaten amongst the attendees. Some games were even played, such as Mafia. After a fun evening of games and socializing, it was time to do service. The attendees made hand-crafted cards for the Veterans, wishing them a Happy Holidays and thanking them for their service. It was a great opportunity to give back to your country. All the cards were given to the Veterans Supplemental Support Network. “Derrick[V.P. of Community Service] and I caught up with Lee Ho, the Key Club President at Chaparral. We talked for a few minutes and then headed over to the room. There were about 13 attendees. LTG Ricky was a little bit late, so we didn’t begin until he showed up. Each representative from the club told everyone about the past, present, and future events. After that, Ricky told us some announcements and formally apologized for his tardiness. After that, we all chilled and ate pizza. We did a few icebreakers, which were really fun. I got to know a few people over at Linfield and that was really nice. We ended up making cards for the veterans. It was a honestly a good educational experience, and I felt good after completing the cards. We got a little preview of future Key Club events and that was really cool. All in all, I had a good time at the November division council meeting, and I’m looking forward for future events!” -Rachel Freeman, Club Historian Written by: Adelle Gutttierez | Temecula Valley
