Chaparral Key Club wanted to include new members in our more eventful activities so until our club rush, our only volunteer activity was a clothing drive, which we received a large amount of clothes thanks to our wonderful Key Club members.
rose float volunteers There were not too many volunteer events as Heritage went off for break. One big event many people were interested in was the Rose Float Decorating event on December 28th. It was almost a 12 hour day, but the talk of the event revealed how fun and exciting it would be to work on the floats. 4 members (plus a chaperone who got to have fun too) left with other Key Clubs in the division early in the morning for Pasadena. When we got there, we were met with gigantic floats in huge buildings. We spent a long part of the day just cutting roses that were going to go on the floats. Some of us got to rotate and actually go on the floats and decorate it! The best part is watching the parade on television and being able to appreciate all the work that went into the beautiful floats.

rose float volunteers 2.0 Every year, Rancho helps out the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, however this time with the collaboration of our school’s flower arrangement class, we were able to have yet another great event! Members were assigned various jobs, from cutting flowers to actually decorating the floats themselves. We had various members from all of classes accompany us on this trip and we hope for the continuation of the assistance with Pasadena’s rose parade in the future.
