2021-2022 D10S Lieutenant Governor (๑˃ᴗ˂)‫ و‬:·゚✧

What’s Poppin’ Blue Turtles !! Once again, I would like to say thank you for giving me this amazing opportunity to further serve our division. I am so incredibly honored to serve us as Lieutenant Governor for the 2021-2022 term! I still remember attending my first division event during the beginning of my freshman year and was in absolute awe of what our D10S is capable of. As blue turtles, we’ve been able to accomplish so much and I have my utmost confident that we will continue this squirtle spirit. Our division has inspired me so much with the spirit & dedication for service and I am beyond grateful to share this experience with you. I aim for us to radiate more spirit and emphasize the importance of connection while we serve our community and beyond this term. I am here for you so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you ever have any questions or would just like to talk! I am always just one text, call, or email away! Blue Turtles, let’s swim together and leave a lega-SEA!!

As the newly appointed officer board was being chosen, Gabrielino held its first virtual Club Vision competition and Key Club happened to take part in it! The competition came just on time for the officers of Key Club to have their members participate in it as one of the end of the year events. The objective of the competition was to create a slideshow similar looking to a vision board, and soon after creativity sparked. Key Club was ready to take on this competition and involve their members by asking for submissions of pictures in their blue turtle attire or them attending past events/services. After many days awaiting the deadline, hilarious and memorable pictures were resurfaced onto the slideshow and Key Club’s tech editor, Megan Chwa worked hard to compile different elements to make the slideshow even more meaningful. The slideshow represented not only an unforgettable year in Key Club, but the previous years in which Key Club’s goal of involving their members and creating fun events on top of community services for them to partake in were a success. Key Club’s vision for the future was truly portrayed through the slideshow that was entered into the competition.

For the month of April, Wilson Key Club members dedicated their time making letters and artwork to those in foster care. For this service opportunity, members get to create virtual and handwritten letters for foster children. After completing their letters, they have to email them to the provided email, and those in charge will then send them off virtually to various foster care and adoption agencies. The best thing about this is that you get to encourage, uplift, and bring joy to children in foster care. Those who participate can earn up to 4 service hours! Another service opportunity our club held was a recycling drive. For this service opportunity, members can bring up to 50 bottles to their local recycling center. Those who participated have to take a picture of themselves recycling the bottles. The plus side about this is that it helps reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. This is a great opportunity for members to help the environment, and earn a maximum of 5 service hours. Lastly, our club has officially announced the new cabinet members for the 2021-2022 term! Following that announcement, we also had our first ever cabinet meeting where we officially transferred our powers. Congratulations to everyone!

During March, SGHS Key Clubbers focused on the environment by participating in the Tappy Tree service event, an idle clicker game that allows users to plant virtual trees. Every tap brought them a step closer to funding and planting real-life trees, making the service a worthwhile cause. Members could earn one service hour for every hour they spent on the app, up to a maximum of two hours. More than thirty members participated in the event, spending an estimated total of more than forty hours on the app. Additionally, club members spread joy by working with Cards for Hospitalized Kids, a charity organization that uplifts hospitalized children across America by sending handmade cards. For every three cards written, members earned one service hour with a maximum of four hours, or twelve cards. Our members sent in more than twenty cards, making a positive effort to encourage hospitalized kids!

Hi Key Clubbers :))) My name is Calvin Truong and as I’m serving as your Division News Editor for the 2021-2022 term, this was my very first newsletter! I’m incredibly grateful for this position and super excited to get to know this club and all its members. Other clubs and organizations I’m a member of at the moment include 626 Speak Out, March for Our Lives SG Chapter, and Alhambra Young Democrats. I’ve only been in Key Club for about a year and while I’m inexperienced, I’m confident in my ability to learn all about it as part of the DLT !!
