SAN GABRIEL CLUB EVENTS

In July, SGHS Key Clubbers aided real-world organizations by playing an ocean-themed adventure game, Swim Dash. Each attempt earned a certain amount of "Karmafy Points," which converted into money donated towards the causes of their choice. The app supported donations to various organizations such as Water.org for clean water and sanitation and Barefoot College for lighting and schools. For every 300 Karmafy Points earned, members gained one service hour with a maximum of 2 hours possible. Swim Dash allowed Key Clubbers to play a fun and interactive game while doing good in the world and becoming a positive force for change. Key Clubbers also took part in the Impact service, an exercising app that tracks the steps and distance from walking or working out. These steps are converted into money and are donated to nonprofit organizations for charity. Key Clubbers are able to choose the cause they would like to support, such as for better livelihood or to provide education. Donating to these charities is as simple as finding a cause and starting a workout to gain steps to donate. For every $0.30 donated, Key Clubbers would earn 1 service hour, with a maximum of 3 hours possible. Overall, Impact provided the perfect opportunity for Key Clubbers to make an impact by simply walking.
