Pumpkin Hunt
On October 20, 2013, Bosco Tech Key Club participated in the Pumpkin Hunt at Kidspace Children’s Museum, located in Pasadena. We made baskets for kids, while they searched for orange and black eggs, and of course, pumpkins! There were also more activities like tricycle riding and making robot masks, most of the kids dressed up as their favorite characters for Halloween. I was with two other freshmen key clubbers, Sean and Lorenzo. Rambert Acero Don Bosco Tech Historian
Project Neo
Bosco Tech is beginning service with Project NEO, an after school tutoring and mentoring program. Second graders through eighth graders receive scholastic help from a group of high school and college students at the Bruggemeyer Library in Monterey Park. Each child is paired with an individual tutor who is well-suited for that particular student. “Project NEO can successfully address areas in which these students’ reading skills are challenged” -Project NEO. This organization will create new friendships, improve students’ understanding of subjects, and help children reach their full potential. Jonathan Kaneshiro Don Bosco Tech Historian

San Gabriel Library Halloween Event On October 26th, ten spirited members from Gabrielino High School Key Club helped at The San Gabriel Library’s Halloween Event. They presented a short play called “Hallo-Weiner” in front of numerous children, helped pass out candies, and assisted the kids in making their own Halloween Art. Although giving out candies and supervising dozens of children is tough, everybody enjoyed this very cute and sweet Halloween service. Ira Simbulan Gabrielino Historian
Candy Apple Fundraiser for PTP On October 30, Gabrielino Key Club Chapter organized a fundraiser to help raise funds for the Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP). The chapter sold 96 Snow White inspired candy apples for $1.50 each. The fundraiser was a success--accumulating a total profit of $72.00. Not only did the fundraiser help raise funds for PTP, but it also helped raise awareness for the program’s cause. Ira Simbulan Gabrielino Historian

AIDS Walk
At first I could not find a ride to AIDS walk, but I was so thankful when my friend had an extra space in her car! I wasn’t too thrilled to wake up so early in the morning, but I knew it would be worth it! It was my third time going to AIDS walk. This time was probably my favorite. They were passing out tasty, healthy snacks and there were so much people from Key Club. It was easy to spot the many D10S signs. Right before the walk I was super excited because the celebrities were talking and I wanted to see Corbin Bleu. I love High School Musical! I like going to AIDS walk because we get to walk in the group and everyone always checks to see if someone is missing. The group always waits by the side occasionally so people can catch up. The walk seemed faster this year. Probably because it was cool weather, and I loved it! It was funny when there were a lot of stoplights and when they turned green again then me and my friends would run to fill up the gap. I loved our mini races! They had the usual ice cream and juice near the end of the race. Then we got our certificate of completion and went off on our own. Me and my friends especially like going to AIDS walk because we can walk to the Beverly Center afterwards to shop and walk around. I could not walk around much though because I had a study session at the library, and I was already late. Overall AIDS walk was super fun and it felt great because it was for a good cause. Heart Walk 2013
San Gabriel High School had 33 volunteers attend the 2013 Heart Walk at the Rose Bowl. Students gathered around 6 a.m. in the morning and were given a few hours to explore the vicinity and to visit the sponsor booths. At 9 a.m., they were assigned various duties ranging from setting up the water stations to directing the crowd. Most of them later converged to cheer on the walkers as they approached the finish line and provide them water and snacks. The Heart Walk was hosted by the American Heart Association to raise support for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The volunteers were honored to support the walkers who may have lost family members to heart tragedies. “The Heart Walk provided an interesting experience for me,” freshman Key Club member Thomas Wang said. “I felt a warmth inside my heart as I saw the passing smiles of the thousands of walkers, survivors, and fighters.” Volunteers returned home at around noon with T-shirts, free gadgets and food provided by the sponsors, and a successful sensation after supporting the inspirational event. Returning members will anticipate next year’s Heart Walk. Christopher Lan San Gabriel Historian
