Allison Sou Division News Editor 3

NEWS COORD MESSAGE Hey BUDdiES! Who’s ready for spooky season because I’m not! Anyways, like Allison said, I’m so hyped for fall rally BUTTTTTT I’m pretty bummed about the “no social media” and “free hugs” rule :( But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a great time. Fall rally is still one of the best best experiences in high school and a few restrictions won’t stop me and shouldn’t stop you from having a good time! Now, HAVE A FUN-TASTIC DAY!

Swimming in Service, Amanda Lee Division News Coordinator 4

LTG’S MESSAGE HELLO, MY SWIMMING TURTLES! FRS is coming so it's time to get SPIRITED! I'm so excited for new and old members alike to experience what many consider to be one of their favorite Key Club memories! Make sure to come out to our spirit sessions and fundraisers too! It's important to know the cheers and also support PTP at the same time. The term is halfway through, and we are getting closer to reaching our goals in service hours, fundraising, and membership! Just keep pushing! All of the services and funds raised, do help so many people out there that are unable to help themselves. Knowing this, I am so proud to serve you all as Lieutenant Governor and I can't wait to see what else you all are able to accomplish this term. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns! Swimming in Service, Ryan Bautista 5

Executive Assistant - Jerica Fang

I’ve been communicating with the presidents of schools within our division about their club health and anything I can do to help them. I’ve also been talking to other EA’s in R13 about spirit sticks. We made the spirit stick for region night market and are planning a date to make the one for RTC.

Division News Editor | Allison Sou

I am currently working on this newsletter that you are reading right now! Enjoy the rest of it hehe!

Division Tech Editor - Jessica Lam

As Division Tech Editor, I have been responsible for creating digital flyers and merchandise. I have finished most of the designs for merch, so be ready for them! Right now, I'm working on a Snapchat filter for the October DCM!

Secretary - Zhen Huang

Right now, I am trying to get everyone to submit their MRFs on time and try to encourage them to get early bird :)) Every month’s been the same and most of the club secretaries are super responsible! If they have any questions or if anything is wrong, I am glad that they are not afraid to come to me for help. I recently helped Gabrielino fix their issue with their MRF because their formulas got messed up. Everything is fine now :))

H ead Fundraising Coordinator - Michelle Dang

I’ve been planning a flower crowns spirit gear fundraiser which has been pretty well, with a lot of members showing interest! I am also currently preparing for the upcoming mandatory Chipotle fundraiser for Fall Rally attendees and we expect a good turnout! Currently, I’m also in the midst of guiding the team to prepare for the October fundraiser cycle.

IT’S TECH EDITOR TIME!

Jessica Lam

What do you enjoy the most as Tech Editor? As Tech Editor, I enjoy creating and seeing my designs help Key Club and raise money for the Pediatric Trauma Program. I can bring together and represent our division of 9 high schools through our Fall Rally merchandise while also raising money for an important cause. I find that really fulfilling!

Do you have any hobbies and other extracurriculars outside of Key Club? I enjoy crochet which is making stuffed animals out of yarn, drawing, filming, playing instruments, and basically anything where I can create projects. In school, I am part of the Tennis and Track teams. Engaging in sports allowed me to form relationships with teammates, struggling together and celebrating together.

A MESSAGE FROM JESSICA If you’re thinking about joining Key Club or running for a position, don’t hesitate to! Although I joined in my senior year, I have made tons of new friends already and thoroughly enjoy working with Key Club. I was thinking of joining in my freshman year and even paid dues, but I didn’t stick with Key Club. Thinking back on it, I wish that I attended Fall Rally and DCON. But I’m determined to make this year the best in Key Club. Please look out for the merch and use the Snapchat filters at DCM’s!

THE HISTORIAN HUSTLE!

Fiona Chan

What’s your favorite part of being Historian? I enjoy capturing memorable moments as Historian, My job is to take pictures and share it with everyone. Do you have any hobbies and other extracurriculars? Besides Key Club, I’m in Red Cross, class council, ASB, and volleyball!

A MESSAGE FROM FIONA

I love Alhambra Key Club! 7

WELCH’S FUNDRAISER This past week of October, Gabrielino High School Key Club has started the Welch’s fundraiser that will help fundraise for the upcoming most anticipated Key club event of the year: Fall Rally. Members received their boxes and sell each delicious Welch’s pack for 50 cents each. They’re a good snack for anybody who wants to support Key club or is just a hungry customer. All proceeds that is made for this fundraiser goes to alleviating the costs of Fall Rally. by Nicole Tanaka, Gabrielino Historian Welch’s Box!

DIVISION GAME DAY All the canned food donated to United Way LA

Games that Key Clubbers were able to play Ms. Foltyn receiving her birthday gifts

On September 28, 2019, Key Clubbers of Division 10 South gathered at Almansor Park to have their September DCM. The Lieutenant Governor, Ryan Bautista, started the meeting with The Pledge of Allegiance and the Key Club Pledge. Susan Chhen, the Member Recognition officer, passed out awards such as Member of the Month and Club of the Month. Afterwards, officers from each club described what they did in September and shared what events they plan to do in the future. Unfortunately, no one from San Gabriel High School or San Gabriel Mission was present, so Ms. Foltyn, SGHS Key Club advisor and winner of the Advisor of the Month award, shared the details in their place. In addition, the Key Clubbers also wished Miss Foltyn a very happy birthday and thanked her for all the hard work she did for Key Club. When the meeting concluded, Key Clubbers were dismissed to play board games, card games, Speed Dating, or make Tik Toks. Key Clubbers from various schools were able to connect with each other and have fun. The DCM was then followed by a spirit session where the Spirit Coordinators prepared the Key Clubbers for the upcoming Fall Rally, where the Blue Turtle’s Spirit Stick awaits. by Anson Yamvinij, Mark Keppel Historian

ANATARI CONCERT Rosemead Key Clubbers serving food at the VIP table

12

On Saturday, October 5th, from 2-10pm, a Key Club volunteering event was held at the Aratani Theaters in Los Angeles. We had 7 volunteers from Rosemead Key Club attend this service event. During the beginning of the event, half of the volunteers helped set up the volunteer booth located outside the theaters while the other half helped gather boxes from a staff member's car and carried it into the theater. The volunteers were assigned to set up the tables and chairs and put tablecloths onto the tables and taped paper to the chairs. At around 4 P.M., half of the volunteers set up the stuff for the auction. While the auction was starting at around 6 P.M., the other half of the volunteers helped the kitchen staff gather food to the VIP room. A concert was shown at around 7 P.M. so two volunteers were assigned to the VIP room to help serve food while the rest of the volunteers were outside in the theater holding signs and directing people to their seats to watch the concert. After the concert was over, the volunteers walked around and asked if anyone still wanted to sign up for the auction. Towards the end of the event, all the volunteers helped clean up and assist the people out of the theater. Katie Lin, a senior in the Fundraising & Budgeting Committee and Information & Publicity Committee, quoted, “This was a new experience for me since this was my first time helping out at a VIP concert event and I really enjoyed it. by Celine Diep, Rosemead Tech Editor

Sophomore Lina Tieu shared, “I enjoyed experiencing the joy of others and had fun doing so. I would definitely volunteer next year and have an even better time helping out others." by Selena Yu, San Gabriel Tech Editor 13
