DNE MESSAGE Howdy Blue Turtles, Happy holidays! You’ve made it to the end of the year, and for that, I am so proud of you all. I hope you all realize how strong and resilient you can be, because doing and balancing everything you’ve had on your plate thus far under the current circumstances should be granted with awarded after award. So take this time to rest and relieve yourself from the rollercoaster you’ve just experienced. To relieve yourself however, you can hang out with some of your favorite Division 10 South turles at our end of the year events, such as the December DCM! At the beginning of the term, I thought we would see each other in person, but seeing as that is not the reality, it really is heartwarming to see you all at these division events, and thus far, attendance has been really good. I hope you all did well on your finals, and to reiterate, I am super proud of you all for living through your first semester.
Swimming in Service,

WILSON For the month of November, our club participated in Operation Christmas Child. This is where we had members wrap a shoebox filled with school supplies, hygienic products, fun toys, etc... Then this shoebox will be sent out to a child in need! Our club was able to create a total of 26 gift filled shoe box to be sent out to children in need this Christmas! This was a great event to help boosts children’s Christmas spirits this year! Wilson key clubbers also participated in the district service opportunities. They were able to help the environment by donating their unwanted books to someone in need of it. Each member had an opportunity to earn a total of 5 hours. The next service opportunity was a thank you infographic! Members created infographic(s) to promote an organization they had chosen. For this event, members were able to earn up to 2 hours. The last November district service opportunity was the thanksgiving care packages. These care packages included 3 or more items such as cookies, toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, etc... Then the care package will be sent to a homeless shelter in the LA area. Each member were able to earn a total of 50 hours!!! These service events were a great way to bring our members closer to their community by giving back during this holiday season.

GABRIELINO In November, our blue turtles met some new seal friends from D35W! On November 16th, Gabrielino Key Club announced their collaboration with West Covina Key Club for a penpal and bonding event. Members were encouraged to sign up with our Google Form to be matched with their West Co buddies. Matches were sent out days before the bonding event to let our penpals get to know each other a little better. Meanwhile, officers brainstormed ideas for the upcoming social event. Several weeks later, plans were finalized and both clubs promoted the event on their social media. On November 28th, Gabrielino and West Co held their inter-club bonding event over zoom to end Thanksgiving Break with good vibes and much love. After officers from both sides finished their introductions, the hosts launched a scavenger hunt! In theme with the season, members had to search for five items within five minutes: a leaf, key, shampoo, fork, and something blue/gold—the clubs’ respective colors. The first three winners of the hunt won a shoutout from the clubs’ official Instagrams. Throughout the social, participants were encouraged to send sweet, little messages to our Love Box form. Officers read out the responses during the three 5 minutes breaks as Christmas music filled the air to get our turtles and seals into the holiday spirits. For the first icebreaker, members played Skribbl.io in three separate breakout rooms. The second icebreaker was more personal and all the more fun. Each person would share their most embarrassing stories; either about themselves or someone they knew. Officers joined in the fun as well. The hour and a half ended with last minute Love Box messages and social media plugs.

MARK KEPPEL In the month of November, Mark Keppel Key Club collaborated with AUSD F.A.R.M.S. for a community food drive. F.A.R.M.S. stands for free and reduced meals for students and this drive was to help provide food for families during the Thanksgiving holiday. Key Club members were able to contribute donations such as canned food, drinks, snacks, water, noodles, cake mix and many more to help donate to the cause. Everyone was able to follow social distancing orders by wearing masks and staying 6 feet apart when going to our drop off locations. At the end of the service, we were able to receive many donations from our members and helped to provide meals for over 100 families in the San Gabriel Valley.
