EDITOR'S MESSAGE Happy July, Villains! Welcome to the second newsletter of the term! It was great to be reunited with all of you again at Key Club Training Conference. I was happy to be reunited my Ohana again & made everlasting memories on that day. I will never forget the face that Lieutenant Governor Kristy made when she found out she was being buried. ALSO, kudos to our Division for donating over $120 dollars to PTP for the Sand Castle Contest. I hope Summer is treating you well and let’s keep that passion for service burning by motivating yourself & others to continue volunteering and attend division-wide events over the summer :-) Although it’s Summer, don’t let that discourage you from being active! Looking at our goals, I am proud of you all for staying active in your community. This month, we served 1121 hours! (As of June DCM) Keep up the good work and we’ll reach our Division Goals soon! See you next month with the next issue!

Pauline Nguyen P.S. If we reach our PTP goal before FRN, LTG Kristy, the DLT, & Presidents will dye their hair green!

LTG'S WELCOME Whats Scheming Supervillains! Thank you to everyone who attended Key Club Training Conference on June 24th! It was great seeing you all learn more about service and Key Club! I hope you all were able to take something away from KCTC and implement it into your life, club or division. Now that we have appointed our Division Leadership Team and Task Coordinators, it’s time to excel and go above & beyond. Starting with the Supervillain Score Board, I hope to see clubs earn as many points as they can through participation and submissions! We have also opened our Division T-Shirt Design Contest. I can’t wait to see all your designs before July 8th @6PM and don't forget to fill out the Spirit Gear survey form. Let’s keep working on having a great term and leaving our legacy. Seeing how things are, I can see for sure that you are already leaving your own legacy.

Kristy Le

PS. Hope to see you all at the July DCM on July 15th!

ANDREW HILL “The Hellyer Ice Cream Social was a nostalgic visit back to my childhood and the place where I basically grew up & learned social skills. It was uplifting to be able to volunteer at this event and basically allow families to bond together over cool and tasty ice cream treats. Seeing how the children interacted and how the campus itself changed overtime really put things into perspective for me, and it reminded me as to why I volunteer. Shout-out to Mr.Bergstrom for being the littlest teacher!!

KIWANIS SPECIAL GAMES

ANN SOBRATO "Kiwanis Special Games was one of the most inspiring events I've ever been to. When i arrived, we were assigned a group of mentally & physically disabled children and we had to help them play games. These games made them feel special and they felt like they belonged and normal for once. I loved my group of kids because they were always ready to play more games and whenever we gave a reward, they had the biggest smile on their face. This is my first Kiwanis Special Games and I know i will be coming back next year.

EVERGREEN VALLEY "This event was very sticky and icky but it was a great opportunity to help out my teachers. By doing this event it made me realize how fun it is to actually help out our local community because after the event was done my teacher thanked me and my fellow members that helped and it really made my day."

GUM CLEANING

WILLOW GLEN 5K

LELAND "At the Willow Glen 5k, Leland Key Club was able to help block out the roads for the runners by setting up barricades and redirecting traffic. We were also able to cheer on the 5K participants, which ranged from dogs to kids to the elderly. Key club also demonstrated inclusiveness at the 5k by pairing up with people from other schools and socializing with people."

OAK GROVE S A T U R D A Y S C H O O L

Arthur Nguyen “At Saturday School, we were guided by our counselor to carry boxes, cook and sort hot dogs, chips and drinks. Following this, we delivered lunches consisting of the following mentioned above to the classrooms open at Saturday school. Finally, we cleaned up OG's kitchen by washing all the pots used in cooking the hot dogs and mopped the floors and tables. Overall, the event was eye-opening, as we were able to witness and experience first hand one of the foundations of Saturday School.

BERNAL MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL

SANTA TERESA "This was Bernal’s second Multicultural Festival and I started volunteering for this event since last year when I still attend Bernal. When I found out STKC was helping out, I immediately signed up. It was fun seeing all my old friends and teachers. My friends and I were in charge of serving food and also, we had the to learn the background of the food we serve."

- Philip Nguyen

SILVER CREEK EVERGREEN LITTLE LEAGUE JAMBOREE

Paige Tran “Just like last year, it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed how the games were all together instead of being spread out unlike last year. Although, it was really hot and we ran out of water, I liked how they provided food and allowed us to have breaks as well. Also, the environment was nice and had great vibes since they were playing music. The kids had a great time and I enjoyed volunteering at the Evergreen Little League Jamboree as well.”

"This was my first KCTC and it was absolutely amazing! At first, I was disappointed that we couldn't go in the water, but all the activities we did were so much fun so they made up for it. To be more specific, it was an amazing opportunity for me to learn more about my duties as a Vice President and share ideas with other Vice Presidents in the region. But the best part about KCTC was making Kristy a sand mermaid!!!" - Layla Yun, Leland
