Recognizing the need for education and training in the areas of pediatric trauma and injury prevention, the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation established the Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) in 1994. Our mission is to develop local projects, which will reduce the number of children in our district who are killed or injured by accidents.

Pediatric Trauma, or unintentional injury, remains the leading cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the US. More children die from unintentional injuries than all other childhood disease combined. In addition, injury results in the deaths of approximately fifteen children per day in our country. Many of these deaths can be prevented!

CAR WASHES Car washes are a great way to fundraise! Most clubs host “Free Carwashes” - you might be wondering, well, if it’s free, how do you make money? You advertise a free carwash, but accept donations! Usually, people who come into your carwash will donate anywhere from $5-$20. A few hours at a crawash can make a lot of money! Things to keep in mind are venue and time. You want your carwash to be succesful, so you want it to take place at a time where the streets will be busy! Remember that venues can be tough to find sometimes; try to plan proactively!

MOVIE NIGHT Another great way to fundraise is to host a movie night! You show a movie and charge admission. You can also sell drinks/food, but remember that your main audience will be high school teenagers, who tend to not have a lot of money to spend. Complimentary popcorn might something you give in order to boost your attendance! Plan this event with your club to see what works best for all of you. Remember to keep in mind that you need a venue, and an advisor on site, especially if it’s going to be hosted in the evening.

BAKE SALE The classic bake sale isn’t as popular as it once used to be. However, it can still be a great way to fundraise! The idea is simple - you make baked goods with your club and sell it. Creating the baked goods can also be a great way for your club to bond! If you plan to sell baked goods to your student body, make sure to check with school administration first before doing so. Also, make sure your baked goods look delicious so you can sell them!

TAPE A TEACHER Something that you can do within your school is “Tape a Teacher”! The concept is easy - you sell strips of tape to students to tape a teacher up on a wall. By the end of the fundraiser, the teacher should be stuck to the wall! Make sure you have a willing teacher, first.

PIE AN OFFICER “Pie an Officer” is a very popular fundraiser! You make “pies” by putting whipped cream on top of a paper plate. Then, these “pies” are sold for a set price or auc tioned off to the members. Make sure all your officers are okay with this before you plan it!

RESTAURANT FUNDRAISERS Restaurant fundraisers are an easy way to fundraise with very little planning. The hardest part in this fundraiser is finding a restaurant or store that does fundraisers. You want to try to find popular stores, so that many people can go there on the day of your fundraiser!
