AUGUST 2021 ISSUE
Hello my beautiful ninjas! We are at the last month of summer sadly but we still have one more month
to
make
this
summer
meaningful. For me I am super excited for the start of my senior year and I hope that everyone else is stoked to start their next year in school. The summer heat is definitely still blazing through our long days and as we’re starting to do in person eventually and make sure to stay hydrated and stay in the shade as person qsassad much as possible.
The month of August is a very big month for division 13 South as were starting to do a lot more in person service around and will be having our first person decision very very soon. Thank you so much to the people who applied for committees for the term of 2021 - 2022! Personally, I am extremely happy with my committee and I know that the other committee heads are excited to work with theirs. That is all from me. ALOHA once again NINJAS! I hope summer has been treating you all well and you all had a good ol time these past few months. School is slowly peeking by which means we’re entering the new grade! To all my SENIORS, I wish you all the best of luck to our last final year of highschool! (and yes I am a senior too) There's so many activities that are waiting for all of you and I’m so excited to be able to plan these out again and again in order to see you all there PHYSICALLY! Recently I have been learning more about psychology and I have quite the psychology tricks up my sleeve now! Take the time right now to look at yourself in the mirror and smile. Keep SMILING for at least 30 seconds! According to psychologist, this increases your mood when you put on a smile even if you aren’t feeling as happy at that moment. Being able to still have a positive mood no matter what will help you out in the long run so MAKE SURE TO SMILE EVERYDAY! Thank you to those who have been hosting and attending IN-PERSON/VIRTUAL service events! I have been able to meet so many of you guys and it’s honestly been brightening my mood up by so much! See you all at our next event! Kickin’ for Service,

ASHLEY OVIEDO | HISTORIAN | WILSON From June 13th to June 20th, key clubbers were able to participate in Global Garbage Man Day. This day commemorates the world's garbage men and women. Waste collectors give their services to the globe on a daily basis, from collecting our garbage to seeing it through the whole disposal process. They were able to express their gratitude and admiration for important employees through posters, letters, postcards, and other means. The maximum number of posters, letters, and postcards that a key clubber could have was five.
ASHLEY OVIEDO | HISTORIAN | WILSON On June 27th, members were able to attend an in person service event! This was located at Fire Station 12, in which key clubbers were meant to revitalize the old fire station. There were two shifts in this event; the first was from 9am-11:30am and the second shift was at 12:30pm-3pm. Members were asked to bring their own gardening tools and work gloves, as well as either black/yellow or Division/Kiwanis shirts. They were required to wear masks and sturdy shoes. This was a successful and safe service event, in which physical distancing was observed!

BROWNING | VALLARY ROEUM This month, we attended events and plan on attending more in the future.
CABRILLO | JUSTINE ALCAYDE This month, we attended events and plan on attending more in the future.
JORDAN | CASEY HUYNH This month, we attended events and plan on attending more in the future.
MCBRIDE | SIMON ABARQUEZ HEY NINJAS!! For the month of July, we hosted our first board meeting in which we talked about personal goals as officers, plans for the club when school reopens, and club rush. We also took part in our first service event of the term, Aloharun! And attended the first IN PERSON DCM!!!
MILLIKAN |ASHLEY OCAMPO Hey ninjas :] For the month of July Millikan was not able to host any events, HOWEVER, we were able to attend and enjoy the events hosted by other clubs and our lovely division leadership team :) We’ve been getting to know our fellow officers from other schools a lot better and even got to attend our first in-person DCM (woop woop!!). I can’t wait to see more attendance from our club at events as well as more members joining as school creeps up. Millikan’s Key Club is slowly getting into the groove of things and starting to build upon the club. Though it’s been a slow start, we see some potential and hope to appeal to more rams :]
RANCHO DOMINGUEZ | JANA MADAMBA Hey Ninjas! For the month of July, Rancho has been preparing for going back to school and planning in person events. Although, it’s been a busy month for us individually we hope to get our club up and running again when school starts. Cheers!

POLYTECHNIC | PIA HAO What’s up ninjas!! This month we kept it pretty chill as we’re all in the 100 meter dash to the end of school! We planned a service week to keep up them service hours even with the stress of APs and finals and a joint social with Millikan, Sato, and Wilson which kinda popped off!1!1 We had a wonderful 30 people attend the social and garnered quite a bit of of hours from our May the Service Be with you Week. We’ll be keeping it chill this month as well to recoup from school but we do have some fun activities planned for the Summer so be in the lookout! Thank you and HIYA!
SATO | DENNIS LAM hey whats up every1, for the month of july, sato key club was able to attend the rancho los alamitos park cleanup alongside poly and wilson as well as the save our beach, beach cleanup. i’m glad that more members of our club are slowly getting back into doing service and i cant wait for more to come! in terms of fundraisers, we were also able to attend the panda express fundraiser as well as the buffalo spot fundraiser. about 2 weeks from now, sato will be starting school again so this gives us the opportunity to engage and interact with more of our members so im stoked to see whats to come for our club. with this being the first in person dcm of the term i cant wait till more events start coming back like spirit sessions and in person serve a thons.
ST. ANTHONY | HANNAH LEGARDE we've been mainly focused on our summer service goal and we have successfully surpassed it thanks to our division service events. we will now start focusing on gaining members and fundraising.
WILSON | KAITLYNN KHEANG Hey Ninjas! Over in the land of Wilsonia our kingdom had decided to take things slow in preparation of having summer events! We decided to have a couple virtual events to earn hours and a few club meetings to stay updated!
