HIYAAA NINJAS! SUMMER BREAK IS ENDING TOO QUICKLY :((( I NEED ANOTHER MONTH. However, I’m looking forward to my senior year :^) and honestly I’m excited for adulthood. To be honest, my career paths has changed so much throughout elementary, middle, and high school… but I think I’m set on doing something in marketing. GUYS, I am craving for sushi right now!! Hence, this newsletter is sushi themed LOL. My newsletter themes are becoming lowkey food inspired… AHHH Family Feud DCM was super fun!! I love having joint events with other divisions. I made a few new friends at last DCM :)) Also, isn’t this term’s t-shirt design SO FIRE?!?!?! The designer popped off for real!! We are going to look so snazzy at RTC and FRS!! Enjoy the rest of your summer break, Ninjas! <3 <3

Welcome to a new addition to the newsletter, Kiwanis Corner! In this section, you can learn about anything Kiwanis-- Kiwanis branches, Kiwanis events, and so forth! You can also see what these different branches are up to inside and outside of the CNH District! This month’s topic for Kiwanis Corner is…

INTRO TO KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL

Kiwanis International is the parent organization of all the branches in the Kiwanis Family. Branches under this family include Key Club, Circle K International, and other branches you’ll learn about in the next newsletters. Kiwanis International was founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan by Allen S. Browne- who and his partners wanted to serve the poor. Kiwanis has grown into a worldwide service organization seeking to help better the community and world. Kiwanis and its branches has amassed 550,00 members in 80 countries and geographic areas.

During the month of July, Division 13 South received t-shirt designs and had a division-wide voting. T-shirts are something that defines a division, so it was important for members contribute to, considerably, a big decision! The winning design was announced at Family Feud DCM. This DCM was also with D13N! Having joint events help members expand circle from club to division to even region! It’s a great opportunity for member interaction! Towards the end of June, the Division had a Frostbites Fundraiser and we will be fundraising even more at DCM’s as clubs are starting to sell items!!

The division plans to release some fun videos throughout this term, so be on a look-out! are looking forward to Region 8 Olympics DCM to end the summer on a high-note!

The beach social was so much fun and truly brought honor to Poly Key Club’s name. It was a successful day for it was able to balance both service and social aspects of Key Club. We started with an hour of beach cleaning and after that we had begun my SOCIAL. First I handed out my spam and spicy tuna Onigiri to all those who came and then members participated in a really cool ice breaker called, “Imagination Creation” where members had to make certain things out of their bodies, example like a pirate ship. Also, we got to play beach volleyball!! It was boys vs girls. The girls put up an honorable fight, but lost in the end. Oh also we sold a lot of bubble wands, kites, and water shooters SO YAY! But those who owe us money, don’t forgot to pay us back. Also, I had fun shooting members with a water gun to cool them down from the hot sun LOL. Anyways I ended off the social by writing “Nguyen Dynasty” in the sand to mark our territory and called it a day. Successful social indeed :)

11

Our beach clean up was great and it was amazing seeing our few members active. Though the beach itself was actually pretty clean, the members and officers did their best to find trash to make it extra clean! The HBS Surfrider Foundation was thankful for the support, and the Sato board can’t wait to see more members next time!

12

The Family Feud DCM was a memorable one. Our group totally failed the telephone icebreaker but it was super fun regardless. I always look forward to DCMs because of the creative icebreakers and activities we get to participate in. You never know what to expect! When it came to actually playing Family Feud, I didn’t know anyone in my family. We were all a little shy at first, but quickly rose to the challenge together. I got to step out of my comfort zone and meet new people. It was surprising how quickly we became a family—literally! The final match was epic, and the Nguyen Dynasty enjoyed a well-deserved win. From yummy snacks to competitive showdowns, this DCM was awesome. I enjoyed hanging out with my new friends from D13N and I look forward to seeing them at future events!

PEDIATRIC

Club treasurers worked hard last month by planning fundraisers to help fundraise for the Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) and to reach the division’s fundraising goal of $8,000. Thank you to the treasurers for staying on task this term and the members that support club/division fundraisers! maullica khiev | wilson | treasurer

I really enjoyed planning this fundraiser. I hoped everyone enjoyed their Cane’s. I wanted to thank everyone who went, our club and me appreciate all the support! Thank you and look forward to upcoming fundraisers in the future!!

As a treasurer, one your duties is to raise money for your club and Key Club preferred charities such as PTP (Pediatric Trauma Program) throughout the term.

You can fundraise for your club at school events such as faires, Open House, Back to School Night, etc. A more common way of fundraising is working with restaurants. Remember, restaurants are apart of your community, so don’t be afraid to reach out to them! You can set up fundraisers by contacting them through their email or calling them. In most cases, calling works best.

After setting up a fundraiser, if not provided, ask your club historian to create a flyer and post on your club’s social media. Don’t forget… Promote! Promote! Promote the fundraiser by reposting on your personal social media and asking the board to do so as well. For even more coverage, reach out to the division to repost it too! Your fundraiser is not limited to just Key Club members, ask friends and family to attend the fundraiser.

Don’t forget to always thank the restaurant for hosting a fundraiser for your club! It shows your gratitude and establishes a good bond between your club and the restaurant.

Happy fundraising! Good luck with the term!

Hello 13South !! Poly Key Club has been thriving! On July 9th, we were able to have our Alamitos Beach service social where we picked up trash along the shorelines (Thank you to mr kawai and ms lin for chaperoning). For the term so far Poly Key Club has raised over 200+ hours. Additionally, we had our Calitea fundraiser where we raised $50 for PTP! Every month we have a shoutout, and July’s member of the month goes to Anthony Juarez. Our newsletters have been released and there is an update each month, so be on the lookout for them! They keep getting better and better! For the month of August, we’re planning a PLARN joint service event with Jordan, so be there or be square! Hopefully you’re all having a swell key club summer! wilson | ashley oviedo

WHAT'S POPPIN NINJA!! Im Ashley Oviedo Wilson Key Club’s president and this month has been very successful, we have continued to create service events and fundraisers for our club. For instance, we recently had a Neighborhood Tree Watering on the 23rd and Raising Cane's fundraiser on the 15th. At the moment we are communicating for a fundraiser at CaliTea. Moreover these events, developed many loyal key club members at our school. In addition, our club newsletters have improved tremendously and keeps improving every month thanks to our wonderful historian, Monica Guillermo. We have also released our July Newsletter just yesterday. At the moment, we are working on creating more service and fundraising events for our members, specifically virtual events since it is the end of summer and many places aren’t having community service at the time. However, a specific event we really want to have is pet literacy so we have been trying every month to try and find a place that will have us. Thank you!
