Hey Caribous! And just like that, the first month of 20-21 term is finished and through. I hope you all are still being healthy and safe during these times. To pass my time during quarantine I have woven ribbon leis,
A Message From Your LTG
colored pictures, and baked a lot. Leis and making cards/pictures are great ways to earn community service hours while still social distancing! I gifted my lei to a family graduate, and the pictures to Cherry Blossom Living Facility in Yuba City and Rainbow Children’s Clinic in Rocklin. In this newsletter are other forms of at home service projects and fundraisers. I hope and highly encourage you to take these actions! Covid 19 cannot stop our passion for kindness and service!

Sock-tober | Willows High School Shoutout to Willows for making a comeback from inactivity in their club! Since reconnecting with their LTG and electing new officers, they’ve also had a major club service project that needed recognizing. In October 2019, Vice President, and current term President, Magella Millen organized the Sock-tober Sock Donation Drive with the help of her faculty advisor, Joe Schantz. All throughout the month, Willows managed to collect more than 300 pairs of socks and distributed them throughout the community. They donated to families in need such as their local convalescent home and county HSA. Can’t wait to see their rise bringing their Key Club to the next level!
Ribbon Leis | East Nicolaus High School We love our seniors! Even if their graduations were postponed, cancelled, etc., they still deserve to be recognized. Chaylin Polines spent her time in quarantine weaving ribbon leis. Each ribbon lei equals one hour of service. The first ribbon lei she learned how to weave was gifted to her family friend Catherine Beck of Wheatland High School. Chaylin’s mother decorated it in charms of Catherine’s hobbies and paper letters of her school initials. Chaylin’s father then delivered it to Catherine; a whole family giving to others through service! Catherine absolutely loved it! Such a simple gift can make someone feel so special and give a bright smile even through these tough times.
