ow that we’re back in the rhythm of school, CAMS Key Club has been focusing on the new tasks service brings. On Saturday, September 1st, we continued to aid the Community Youth Garden at Stephen M. White Middle School in weeding, plowing, and watering. CAMS Key Club even has its own plot, which is now ready to be seeded! On Friday, September 7th, we helped out Gardena Valley Kiwanis at their huge fundraiser, The Last Man Standing, in organizing prizes to be raffled, setting up the variety of food for the banquet, and serving attendees. The event was really fun, especially since it ended with Kiwanis members singing karaoke. Members also enjoyed eating Italian, Hawaiian, Mexican, American, and Japanese foods! On September 8th, Division 19 North Key Clubbers joined together in a Free Car Wash that accepted donations for the Pediatric Trauma Program. Members held Car Wash signs, directing them to the Gardena Taco Bell, where other members worked together in rinsing, scrubbing, and drying off the many cars that came. This was a great project for CAMS Key Clubbers to meet other Division members and have fun together washing cars! Together D19 North raised $335 for PTP. The following Sunday, September 19th, Key Clubbers carpooled to Jake’s Ladder Walk in Van Nuys. This Cystic Fibrosis Charity event was extremely exciting because members got to walk with Disney Channel star, Kenton Duty! CAMS Key Club will definitely be attending more Cystic Fibrosis projects. The 20th annual Torrance Salvation Army Health Fair was held September 15th, and we gladly attended in hopes of interacting with the many doctors and medical practitioners who volunteer at the Fair themselves. Members set up directions and signs for the attendees, directed people in need of screenings to the proper areas, and even aided doctors in communicating with the patients. Amy Zhang, a new 9th grade Key Club member, translated many doctors’ advice for a few patients who only spoke Mandarin! All of us were amazed to see free exams being given in order to help the lives of those who really needed it. We even asked the practitioners our own medical questions, to which they of course responded with expert information. CAMS Key Club has many new projects to volunteer at and we can’t wait until the upcoming Club Rush at our school to recruit new members!

s everyone knows, the month of September is one of the busiest months of the year for Key Club. From just starting school, to reregistering with the school administration, to even recruiting new members, it is easy to say that we all have our hands full for the month. For El Segundo Key Club, it is no different. So far, El Segundo has reregistered as a club with the El Segundo High School Administration. Two of our members attended the carwash as well. We have also had our first club meeting, (held on September 13). For the remainder of the year we will be meeting every Thursday at lunch. The first meeting has been a success as we have many kids eager to become members! We are looking forward to an exciting year with dedicated members and a plethora of community service hours! For the remainder of this month, El Segundo's goal is to continue to sell the PTP tickets and keep the attendance in our weekly meetings high. We also aspire to collect sixty percent of our dues by the end of this month. We also would like to have a healthy amount of members attend the PTP event on the twenty- ninth of this month. The fall rally and sign- ups for this event will also be announced this month. As an annual goal, we hope to both have more community events and have more members attend these events. To accomplish this, we would like to plan more local events as to reduce transportation issues among members. We also wish to host more fundraising events than previous years.

Hello Pirate Penguins! Now that the school year has started we have had a great chance to begin club activities at full blast! HMSA had their first meeting on September 15th and we were glad to see a variety of grade levels present. We had our first event as a school with the Heal the Bay International Beach Clean Up. A strong group of members showed up to the clean up and collected a heavy amount of garbage off of the beach. Two of our members even won raffle prizes given out at the end of the event. The prizes were great eco-friendly supplies like tote bags and reusable water bottles. We also had the Friendship Circle event that included a fair amount of HMSA members. It was a great experience to have them interact with the kids of the organization. We've also sold a few of our PTP Reception tickets and hope to finish selling them quickly now that the school is fully aware of the event and the purpose of such a great fundraiser. So far HMSA seems to be on a pretty good start and we hope to continue.

am Yesenia Frausto and I am the proud president of Hawthorne High School's Key Club. Key Club at our school has been inactive for a few weeks now and the last event we had was held at the Hawthorne Memorial Center. It was truly an inspiring event where Key Club became present and we volunteered with a sincere gratitude. The event focused on a dinner for police officers wanting to keep and spread the importance of K-9 dogs in our community. It was about five of us who attended and we helped serve the police officers and their families. We also prepared salads so they could be distributed to the guests. It was a warm and just fantastic opportunity to greet and acknowledge the people who serve our community.We were able to communicate among the guests and we were pleased to hear the praises we received.

or the month of September, we participated in Club Rush at our school. We got about 5 pages back and front of potential members. Our first club meeting was last Tuesday and we just had our second meeting this Tuesday. Some people are now paid members. This Satuday, we will be participating in the Lawndale Clean Up or Lawndale Beautification Day. That will be from 9am until 11am. That's all we have as of now.

or our club article we participated in the Gardena Jazz festival. Westchester had about seven volunteers. We participated in the work section of the vip section. We worked as waiters and waitresses. From early in the morning we worked helping seat people in their tables as well as serving them theirs food. Although this was a very painful waiting period my club agreed that this was a very fun and learning event.

Member of The Month C.A.M.S Aaron Rangel
Its no secret that Key Club members are active and quirky members of the community.
Few people could turn work into an enjoyable activity and an even smaller minority can make service enjoyable for everyone around them. Jacob Tran manages to do both of these things exceptionally. Jacob is a spirited member who is not afraid to be social or go the extra mile for Key Club. For example, at the recent car wash Jacob dressed in a rather colorful get up in order to bring more customers. He had to leave a little early in order to attend an orchestra event but he soon came back after it was done in order to help out more.

l Segundo’s member of the month for September is Stephanie Nemhe. She is El Segundo’s treasurer. This year, Stephanie is focused on becoming more involved in Key Club. She started with becoming treasurer. She is now running the PTP reception for Division 19 North. Stephanie has been attending the division events and DCMs because she loves Key Club and is determined to become a more active member. El Segundo is gifted with this bright senior who will bring great joy to the club she serves. Her enthusiasm is bringing in new members and will continue to inspire us.

he month of September has come and this means recruitment of new Key Clubbers. Gardena Key Club has started recruitment and these potential members have shown good hearts as they dedicated many hours of their time to community service this past month. I would like to commend Asahi Hardy and Christopher Martinez for showing great spirits for community service. I love how these sophomores are always working hard in our service events and are always completing their tasks successfully. I truly hope that these new members will continue their great work.

his month, I'd like to recognize Dax Capangpangan as HMSA Key Club's Member of the Month. Dax is always full of energy and his spirit is contagious. He's extremely enthusiastic about participating in the events, which is a great way to get other people interested in joining the club. He's already helping to recruit members even though the school year just started. It is good to know that after the seniors graduate, he will be here to spread the Key Club spirit.

This month Evelin has showed a great amount of spirit and has also brought new members into our Leuzinger Key Club. Evelin has also been one of our most enthusiastic members. She is always hyped up and ready to go.

y nomination for this month’s member of the month is Jacqueline Ross. She has been on top of her duties going above and beyond and doing everything ahead of time and with one hundred percent effort. Jacqueline has gone to all the DCM’s and participates fully. Also she has produced some of the best pictures as Westchester Key Club’s historian, just priceless photos that reflect her quality and dedication to her position. She truly represents key club when she always helps people at school and treating everyone with the same respect. That’s why she is the prime example of a Key Clubber!
