I don't know about everyone else, but words cannot express how excited I am about my fourth and final FALL RALLY!!!! I cannot wait to have our Key Club shirt in hand, screaming how good I feel. But first things first! Each of us must contribute to the division goal of $3000 for PTP! This is an opportunity for YOU to make a difference and leave your GOLDEN legacy. As dedicated members, we can once again break our previous record of $2500! The next few months will be a very busy time as students and as Key Clubbers. If you ever need to contact me for anything, know that I am here. I want to help you not only leave your GOLDEN Legacy, but also share your enthusiasm with others. Good Luck and never hesitate to ask for help.

N.E. Paulette Mumar Hello Penguins! How is the first month of school for you? Has it been fun, exciting, stressful, or successful? Month of September In the month of September our school had Know a Club Week. Where students walk around the stage and join clubs at our school. Our club had a hundred eighty sign ups and around a hundred twenty of those sign up showed up at our meeting. That same week our club had a social after school where we had many ice breakers where we introduced the board members, the importance of Key Club, and learned each other’s names. We had around 70 new members attend, I feel that it was a great success .

Gardena: During the month of August CAMS Key Club reached out to the Compton community and volunteered at the Compton Neighborhood Pride Day on August 3, 2013. Although CAMS Key Club’s members come from a wide range of locations, few to none come from the Compton community. This being said it was heartwarming to see the enthusiasm exhibited by our members is reaching out to a community that is not their own. For the month of September CAMS Key Club has a full schedule in terms of volunteering, fundraising, and divisional activities. Coming up on the 21 st of September, about ten of our members will be attending the Division 19 North talent show. Most will be going as attendees while a few will be performing. The following weekend on the 28th of September CAMS Key Club will be volunteering at the Gardena Wine and Food Festival. We will be helping out the community of Gardena during their annual day of wine and food tasting by serving, cleaning, and doing whatever they may need. The following day on the 29th, CAMS Key Club has been invited to help at the Kickin Cancer Run/Walk. We will be going out on Sunday to help at booths and on the course passing out water in order to show our support on the fight against cancer. We have begun to implement a happy jar to constantly raise money for PTP, and selling snacks to fundraise for upcoming events. The school year has officially started and CAMS Key Club is going out in full force. We are hopefully and excitedly waiting for club rush so we can spread the ideals and goals of Key Club to others.

During the month of August, we had two bake sales to fundraise for the ice cream social we had after our first meeting. They were extremely successful. We sold a variety of chips, cookies, brownies, honey buns, and soda. During the month of September, Da Vinci Key Club kicked off their first official meeting that was followed by an ice cream social on 12th at 4:00pm. We were able to get a lot of new attention from our students. We are also working with other clubs in our school to fundraise and participate in Boarding 4 Breast Cancer. We are in the process of planning a joint-club blood drive and book drive.

Month of September El Segundo High School Key Club had its first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 12th. There was a good turn out and we had fun introducing the new members to the Key Club family. We introduced the board and talked about the Key Club pyramid. This year we are lucky enough to have both the Lieutenant Governor and the Division News Editor be from our school. Our club is extremely excited for the upcoming year. And, nothing is as exciting, as getting ready for Fall Rally. We will soon be teaching our cheers to our new members and introducing them to the world of Key Club spirited. Now, I only have one question for you, “How do you feel?

Member spotlight Adele Julius El Segundo High School Key Club's member of the month is Adele Julius. Adele has been an active and vital member of key club since her sophomore year. She is dedicated, motivated, hardworking, and always full of energy. During key club meetings, Adele always voices her opinions and gives great ideas for fundraisers and ways to help the community. She also creates a positive and optimistic atmosphere at club meetings and events. Recently, Adele attended the Key Club DCM on August 31 and was able to make many new friends from several different Key Clubs. Adele volunteers at nearly all of key club's fundraisers and events, encouraging people to come and help support the club with her bright smile and peppy spirit. When someone is feeling down or needs a helping hand, Adele is always there to help others. That is why Adele is essential to the success of our key club and we are truly honored to congratulate Adele Julius as key club member of the month for El Segundo High School.

CAMS’ Member of the Month of September is . . . James Rasmussen. James has demonstrated a great work ethic when it comes to the club. After recently being asked to be CAMSKC’s new Recognition Chair, he quickly reviewed the various Key Club sites to find qualifications of member recognition that he presented at our board meeting. Along with his care for the members, James has been actively attending meetings and promoting the Key Club name, so the club is happy to have him be our Member of the Month!

The Member of the Month for HMSA is Francisco Requena. Based on his hours, he achieved 22 hours over the summer. It is amazing how our key clubbers still choose to participate in the key club events and make a difference during the summer. Francisco is always willing to show his Key Club spirit in our events. He continues to volunteer and make a change in the world every day.

Member Spotlight Hawthorne’s member of the month was Alexis Flores, he’s been on of our few members who has done more hours than any current member. Even though he has been nominated a few times now I am glad to present once again as member of the month. He is a member that shows others what the true meaning of giving back to the community. By being highly active in Hawthorne's Key Club he has received up to 500 hours which is above the average hours that our members must have. This has proven to our club that his dedication has earned him the spot to be member of the month once again. We appreciate having such a high spirited young man like Alexis Flores, and this is why we wanted to recognize him for his hard work.

The member of the month for Da Vinci Science goes to Megan Hines for all that she has done for the club this month. Megan has improved to be more involved and do what she is supposed to do on time and without being reminded. At the beginning of the school year, she had a rough start on what she had to do and didn't communicate with the rest of the Da Vinci leadership board. From where she started to where is she is know is a very huge improvement. I thank her for all of the hard work that she has put into our club and has helped a lot with our first meeting.

The member that the board of Lawndale Key Club would like to recognize is Jojo Belay. She joined us last year as a freshman and has tremendous spirit and skills to rally people. She helped the board with registration and club rush. She manages her time excellently and always has her spirit ready with her. Though she is in other clubs she always has a special place for Key Club in her time. She has gone to every meeting last year and recruited many members and is always eager for events. We are proud to present her the title of Member of the Month.
