Street clean up is always an event I look forward to attending. When I first arrive, the first thing I notice is all the trash in the sidewalk and the street. I think to myself, “This is going to be a long day!" I then see all the KEY clubbers ready to give back to the community and ready to help. As I'm picking up the trash I remember a part of pi the KEY club pledge which says," to build my home, school, and community..." And the word "community" stands out, motivat- ing me to keep giving back to the

community by cleaning the streets. After we have finished cleaning the long blocks, I look down the block and see how different and clean the street looks. As I’m looking down the street I realize that what we have done has made a dra- matic impact in our community; which is what matter most to me. Although, I what mat might not be making a huge impact in the world, we are all making a change: one community at a time. buzzing in service Key Club International |CNH Key Club | Region 7 | Division 25 West

Rose Parade Float Decoration Article & Visuals | Andrew Phan

Winter Break is normally a time of relaxation and fun for many teenagers, who want a break from schoolwork and more. However, during Winter Break, it gave Division 25 West a GOLDEN opportunity to go to Pasadena, and help the Kiwanis family decorate the Rose Parade Float Decoration. It was a warm winter morning on December 26th when many members from division 25 West showed up, with many other members from other divisions such as 10 South turtles. First, we were given shirts, told what to do, and got straight to work. Even though it seemed as if time would pass by slowly, working with other members of the same organization o made it seem much faster. At first, I was cleaning seeds up with a vacuum, but soon I was on the Honda float gluing seeds. As soon as I knew it, lunchtime had arrived and I was working the lines, helping pass out water to all the tired, but dedicated volunteers. Soon after lunch, everyone got back to work. I helped around cutting flowers and got to meet Bob Eubanks while I was there. The day passed by quickly with all the work being done, but I made some awesome continued on page 9

friends while working. I got to meet District Secretary, Amanda Redublo, who helped passed out hot choco-足 late, while I was there. The day ended at 11 P.M, but the experience of serving with new friends, and people I call family was rewarding, despite all of the tiring work and mess.

Key Club members patiently listen and receive instruction on how to paint a float at the annual Kiwanis Rose Parade Float Decoration.

Canoga

Final 2013 Workday

Written by Ronald Guan |Canoga Park Historian This month the Canoga Park FFA and Key Club + Green E Club teamed up once more for some last minute clean up of the agricultural area before the New Year arrives! As usual, students and parents volunteered their Saturday morning to help with general cleanup, weeding, sweeping, and maintenance of the farm. Breakfast and Lunch was provided for all volunteers. Although it was a fairly windy day, numerous members still came out to participate in the work day. We hope to see more individuals attend the following work days. As 2014 approaches, I hope that the Agricultural Area will continue to da become more beautiful.

/05&4 Happy New Year Pufferfish! It's about that time of year where we elect new officers and pass on the torch. Conclave --the election for the new Lieutenant Governor -- will take place on January 25th. Each school should be having their own elections for cabinet around this time as well, so you should all start thinking about running for a position! It's an extremely reward- ing experience, trust me. You may be shy or insecure about running, but you'll never know what you could learn if you don't try. So take that risk! Past officers, you should try your best to encourage your underclassmen and fellow key clubbers to run as well! Another future event that I'm sure most of us are antici- pating is DCON, or District Convention, taking place from April 11th to April 13th, the weekend before spring break for many of us. It may be a little pricey, but the experience is worth it. Everyone shares their spirit and you get to meet people from all over California, Nevada, and Hawaii. Most of the work- shops are run by actual Key Clubbers, so you know that they understand your experience as a member. Your Executive Assistant, Uyen Lam

Happy Holidays, Spikey Babies! I hope that your Winter Break was swell, twas a very warm Christmas, indeed. Fare thee well to 2013 and I hope your 2014 will be a blessed one. For 2014, make a resolu- tion to be more involved in Key Club. Elec- tion season is here! Consider being a part of your cabinet board! I’ve had the great est honor to serve as my club Historian as well as the Division Executive Assistant. An even greater goal to strive for is LTG, so act fast and think fast because the time is now. Key Club in actuality is a short experi- ence; four years and that’s it, so make the best of it. Although it is past the holiday spirit by now I would like to thank all of the division for showing me your love and compassion through service. I’d like to also thank the rest of the Division Board because Matthew has been an outstand- ing Lieutenant Governor, Andrew has been a hard working and persistent tech editor, and Uyen has been an organized partner. Thank you! Your Executive Assistant, Katarina Baltazar

Hey 25 West- I welcome you with open arms to elect D25W's new Lieutenant Governor for next term at our very own conclave! Please remember to wear business casual attire. Feel free at any time to message me at 818-455-5200 or e-mail me at d25w.cn- hkc.ltg@gmail.com if you need anything.
