Hello lovely Pufferfish!
One month into the term and I can see there are so many BEEutiful hardworking members and officers dedicated to the Division! It is truly a blessing to serve such a spirited and caring Division. Of course, I know not all of you have been able to meet me personally. I have been in Key Club since the beginning of high school. I served as Historian, President, and a Division Spirit Leader! I love singing and am on Taft’s Vocal Ensemble as a soprano. My life solely revolves around Key Club, music, and preserving the environment. If you’ve noticed, I’m a tad bit crazy and I enjoy stalking D25W’s members on the internet because I love getting to know all of you! I’m always here for every single one of you, so don’t be shy to come talk to me! Congratulations to everyone for finishing the dreaded AP exam season! I’m sure you all did well. Every 9 minutes, a child dies from this disease. From contracting the disease they become sensitive to all forms of sense. Sound, light, touch all becomes excruciatingly painful. As the baby cries in helplessness, a mother can’t even hold her baby in her arms as they breathe their last breaths.

Worldfest 2014 By Priscilla Sandoval, SOCES Historian
Over hundreds of people with green thumbs
attended Worldfest Sunday, May 18th from 10 AM- 7PM. WorldFest is a wonderful outdoor vegan/vegetarian festival held nationwide and held annually, here in California at Woodley Park. Their goal is to have you leaving Worldfest inspired to make changes for a better tomorrow. At the festival provides the attendees with live entertainment, education on being conservative, and enlightenment on all things healthy, eco-friendly, and community helpful. Worldfest is the place for just having fun with your friends and family, while being educated in ways to help the earth “live longer�. well of health compassion and enlightenment in all things green. Their job is to provide you an earth-friendly experience this and every other year to come, to be inspiring and enjoyable for all through earth-friendly kids activities, animal welfare nonprofits, and using solar power to provide energy to vendors, stages, lights, etc. Key Club members and also other people volunteer to make this event as successful as it is, working in various aspects of the festival from graphic design, fund raising ,to helping out on stage, and helping at the main entrance. It feels great when us, Key Clubbers, are helping our community in such a successful project and help spread Key Club's name to be recognized as the student community that helps make these kind of events possible. So next year be prepared to volunteer for Worldfest and you won't regret it , if you are technology savvy, have great people skills, or just all-around helpful; Worldfest would love to have you around next year!

Miles for Melanoma 5K Run/Walk Universal Studios Backlot By Joanna Guillermo, Taft President Melanoma is the deadliest and most serious case of skin cancer. It is the 2nd most common cancer in people ages 15-29. There is no cure, and if not treated, can spread to other parts of the body. However, melanoma is completely preventable! I had no idea what this cancer even was until volunteering for this event. We helped set up and clean up for the event, register runners and hand out drinks after the race. We even had the honor to meet many fighters and survivors of melanoma. They inspired us to stay head strong in life and enjoy what we have. The Melanoma Research Foundation appreciates that Taft Key Club was there to provide service and awareness to younger generations. Thank you to everyone who came to volunteer, and I hope y'all spread the word that everyone should wear sunscreen everyday and not just to the beach!

Senior Symposium By Joanna Guillermo, Taft President This was a great event where both Taft and El Camino's Clubs teamed up. Despite the long hours, blazing sun and heat, we were able to provide the senior citizens with unending compassion and service. Lunch was probably the hardest part of the day, when everyone wanted their food. People were pushing and shoving, and we were careful and responsible enough to keep our cool and keep serving. Thank you to everyone who came out to volunteer at this event. The coordinator of volunteers was very grateful that we worked so hard, and she said they are definitely going to come to Key Club for volunteers next year and upcoming years!
Worldfest 2014 WorldFest is an event that helps people be more aware of their impact on their community, the environment, and the world. From being taught the benefits of being vegan to the terrible abuse of animals for scientific research, you learn the values of being environmentally friendly. Whether you're a volunteer or attendee, this event impacts the way you view our community. Even in the heat and dust blowing in our eyes, we worked where we were needed and did so much more than we were asked. Even as volunteers, we taught others how to be more eco-friendly by serving free filtered water in reusable bottles and picking up trash that wasn't ours. I know we made a difference in the way others see the world and young adults because we proved them that even teenagers are concerned about our community and want to take better care of it. Thanks to all those who came out and dedicated long hours to WorldFest!
