I was recently elected to be president of the Sierra Canyon Key Club, aka the new kids on the block. We were officially chartered on November 30th after about a year and a half of trying to figure out how actually to get our- selves chartered and getting “lost” many, many times along the way. Our leadership consisted of 4 seniors (juniors when they founded the club), and so when we had our elections this spring we got a lot of fresh faces Continue of Page 3

Pierce College 5K Run It was a hot, sun shining morning for the Taft 5k at Pierce College. Key Clubbers from Taft, Reseda, SOCES, and El Camino came to help pass out food, medals, shirts, and water. Right at 6am, it was cold and not much was happening yet. Taft members drove to Sunrise Little League to pick up chairs for the booths. After coming back, the Taft track coach had come and set up had begun. Easy tasks like cutting bananas and bagels were done first after the tents were up. Runners started coming as early as 7am. Some were assigned to pass things out while others flocked to the water station. Runners like one of the track coaches was grateful for Key Club coming to volunteer and expressed her gratitude while sprinting. Continue on Page 3

Sierra Canyon Charted from Page 1 entering into leadership positions, including myself. Well, we really didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into. We really weren’t told that the district existed to be honest, or that there would be paperwork involved. So, when I attended the weekly Kiwanis Chatsworth meeting for the first time as President and found out fast that we had a lot of work to do to catch up, I was a little overwhelmed. We needed to start getting ourselves out there and to meetings and, well, actually doing things.

A variety of ages and people came from the fast and the furious to the calm and walking. After all the people had stopped by both stations, members had a water fight. Our L.tg, Taft/Reseda President, and some of the Taft/Reseda board were soaked in water. They then packed up and took the station back to the stadium. At the stadium were more members from the respective schools. Some were at booths passing out items, others were giving out medals, and more were at the top of the stadium helping with registra- tion. Towards the very end of the event, an- other small water fight happened at the top of the stadium. No worries, the adults and runners didn’t mind but actually joined in at some points. Everyone had a great time and Lisette, the person in charge of the event, was very gracious and happy for our help. Another wonderful, fun event served by the 25 West Division! More memories to be made for this already spectacular term. So this last weekend I attended the Pierce College Farm Walk and I was blown away by how welcoming (and patient. Extremely patient.) literally everyone was. I can now say with confidence that I know what DCM, Cali-Nev- Ha, MICE, MRF, and several other important acronyms mean, which is a big improvement from where we started. I could not be more excited about what we have gotten ourselves into, and I am 100% sure that Sierra Canyon is going to be an active part of the District 25 West ohana! Go Pufferfish! -Lizzie Hinson

Know Your D-Team! Hey everyobdy! I hope you all got 5's on your AP exams. Good luck on finals coming up. I know you will all do amazing! Something interesting about me is I have seen almost every Disney movie and know almost every song. - Matthew Reminick aka LTG

CONGRATULATIONS, spikey babies! You all survived the cst's, finals, and some of those daring students, AP's. I know that I definitely thought I could not take it, it's all so stressful but I am so excited for the coming summer break, it's MUCH needed. During the summer I'll be gone for Florida with my younger, big man brother to visit our father and the rest of the family. So yes... I will be gone for the whole summer but I want you all to stay motivated, please keep up with key club, as will I, and enjoy yourselves. For those that went to prom, I see you, I see you, ya'll looked great! I've been stressing out for mine, I'm a baby sophomore, what am I going to do at a senior prom. Just my luck though, of course I would get braces now. I miss ice crunching! - Katarina Baltazar aka Division Assistant Hello pufferfish! I hope your CST's went well, as well as the AP exams! Take a quick breather - it's over! Next up, finals. Good luck, and try not to stress out too much. Summer is coming soon, but that won't stop us from serving. We'll continue to have exciting events for you, including frozen popcorn and beach clean-ups. Keep recruiting new members and introduce them to Key Club. Katarina and I are working hard on getting you new gear; bringing back bracelets! Got ideas for lanyards or any other gear? Email us! - Uyen Lam aka Division Assistant Hey guys! I'm Allison Azarloza, your Division 25 Secretary! I am so excited to be working with and getting to know all of you, but first some fun facts about me: I attend Chaminade High School and am currently in the eleventh grade. More importantly, I am super passionate about art! I've been taking art classes for over thirteen years and I love both drawing and painting in my free time. The last interesting fact about me is that I share a birthday with my mom. - Allision Azarloza aka Division Secretary So I’ve been kinda busy this month guys with the outside world and film business. I haven’t been able to update the website or Twitter as much as I wanted to, but I will do more during the summer! Fact: I used to have a dog named Ruffy. - Andrew Phan aka Division Tech
