FROM THE

LTG

HELLO ELEPHANTS! MY name is March Suayngam and I am honored to be able to serve as your 20172018 Lieutenant Governor. Becoming Lieutenant Governor had originally started as a joke between my friends and me during my first year in Key Club. Little did I know, I would eventually develop an undeniable love for this organization and those who are a part of it. A little about myself, I currently attend John A. Rowland High School as a junior and will be ending this term as a senior. Over three unforgettable years of involvement in Key Club, I have been able to encounter life-changing moments, develop leadership

skills, step out of my comfort zone, and serve unconditionally to improve my community and the world. I am eternally grateful for everyone who has been a part of my journey in Key and for those I will soon encounter in the future. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as Lieutenant Governor of Division 35 East. I am dedicated to guiding others to reach their full potential and to making lasting memories, as many have done for me.

-March Suayngam Division 35 East Lieutenant Governor

This past month, Diamond Bar hosted a movie night fundraiser which also included a service project! At “Service with a Movie Night, construction paper and other card making supplies were available for members to make cards for troops. Leading up to the event, members were able to vote on which movie they wanted to be played. For our fundraiser, Key Clubbers were able to buy pizza, chips and drinks!

Care Packages…

… for Troops It was a very fast paced event! I‟ve never gone in the past so I was really excited to see how this event turned out. There were a lot of different organizations there, such as Kiwanis, boy scouts, girl scouts, and volunteers from the city. It was cool to see Key Clubbers from Walnut since the event was further 3 from them. I saw a lot of new and old faces, but what particularly stuck out to me was seeing new freshmen from my home club come to help out. It was probably their first event and they later told me it was very memorable, which was good to hear! The packaging went by very quickly since there were so many people! The assembly line method was very efficient and it was nice to see how many supplies there were for our troops. It was really touching to see that the Kiwanis had made stickers in honor of the late Kiwanis LTG to stick on to the boxes. Even after the event „ended,‟ many people stayed around to help load the boxes into the truck. It was really amazing to see how people from different organizations were able to come together to work towards the same goal. I hope our troops enjoy the boxes!
