Club Overview

The ANHS Key Club is planning many events this summer. We are planning to team up with the Boys & Girls Club and help out with a Tennis Camp. We are also planning to host many boba fundraisers at ANHS to help fundraise for more events.

Senior Pancake Breakfast On the 19th of May from 9:30am-12:00pm, many Key Clubbers attended the annual Pancake Breakfast in Laguna Hills. This is a $5 unlimited pancake-and-sausage breakfast hosted annually on behalf of the Saddleback Kiwanis Club. Our volunteers basically either helped guests find a seat and get situated or served guests pancakes, sausages, juice, and coffee. They had to make sure everyone was comfortable and also had everything he or she needed. It was a little bit hectic and stressful, but it was a very fun event that gave us the opportunity to meet oodles of new people. By helping out with this event, we were able to provide many senior citizens with a fun place to not only get a yummy breakfast but also to catch up with their friends and make plans to go to places afterwards. The Aliso Niguel Key Club plans to attend this event for as long as it continues to exist because not only is it lots of fun but it’s also a great event to meet new people!
[President] Capo Valley’s new Key Club executive board is now up and running since elections, and is also progressing quickly both individually and as a team. For the past few months, the new officers, including myself, got settled and comfortable in their positions, and as of now, things are running very smoothly and effectively. In May and July, Capo Key Club has been involved in many events in our community, including the Memorial Half-Day Marathon, the Arts Alive Festival, various fundraisers for Relay for Life, and of course, one of the biggest community events, the 24-hour event Relay for Life. As the school year comes to a close, the new executive board plans to celebrate our highly successful 2011-2012 year under Christine Tu with a grand end-of-the-year party. However, we have our eyes and mind set on what is to come for the future of Capo Key Club, and we are determined to bring our best effort and demonstrate our abilities to their fullest in the upcoming 2012-2013 term.

Relay for Life
Relay for Life is the ideal volunteer opportunity that is full of meaning, emotion, sweat, and heart—all of which culminates into a life-changing experience. This event occurs for 24 straight hours where people gather together to run or walk around a track or a park to symbolize cancer’s everlasting presence in both the world and the people we love. This year, Capistrano Valley’s Key Club participated in Mission Viejo’s Relay for Life located at the Saddleback College Track and Field. For the next 24 hours, CVHS Key Club participated in many different activities that were pertinent to fighting back against cancer and other life altering illnesses. Organizations like Key Club contribute to help change and save many lives in the near future. It is important to always remember those who still fight as well as those who sacrifice part of our lives for the betterment of others to come.
Senior Pancake Breakfast
[Secretary]
What do kids love more than watching cartoons on Saturday mornings? Community Service! What do you get when you mix pancake batter, community service, and a throng of hungry seniors? A pancake breakfast that would set a record for the ages. Early in May, in coordination with Key Club factions from Aliso Niguel High School and Cerritos College Clubs, we served a nifty complementary breakfast to a number of seniors at the Laguna Woods Club House. From 8am-12pm, we performed tasks ranging from pancake creation to clean up. All in all, our morning was not wasted watching Dragon Ball Z, but was productively spent on giving back to the seniors who did so much to provide us with opportunities we are so lucky to have today.
Half Marathon A runner’s worst nightmare is dehydration. When faced with the prospect of dehydration, a runner will cringe in the fear of falling into a vegetable-like shape after they suffer from hallucinations and a parched throat. Luckily, our club was able to provide such runners with the life juice at the annual Memorial Day Half Marathon on May 28 th. The Half Marathon included multiple events, such as a half marathon, 10k, 5k, and even a brisk half mile walk. For each of these, our club provided crucial cups of H2O to quench the runners. YAY US.

Congrats, Grads!
On June 14th the LHHS Key Club helped out at Graduation. We passed out the programs at the entrance of the stadium and tried to make sure every family got one. We were all smiles and the parents enjoyed our help. We stayed for the graduation to cheer on our board members who were graduating! It was sad to know that they were leaving but we are all so proud of them and know that they will have a great time in college! Also, we are preparing for the OTC coming up and hope to attend the DCM. We will also be doing some summer events to help our school prepare for registration coming up in August!
Officers in Training During the month of June, both the Vice President and I went to the Officer Training Conference at Costa Mesa High School. We learned many things through the workshops we picked and encountered our fellow key clubbers. It was also a great way to meet up with our friends from other schools whom we haven’t seen since the end of school. One of the best parts was seeing our LTG Hannah in action at the Key Club 101—where we learned about our numerous projects and fun facts about Key Club and such.
Key Club Time is Any Time!
[President]
As the school year came to a close, Tesoro Key Club looked to the future. In order to stay active this summer, the Tesoro Key Club board has been actively planning events for the summer. What seems to be most popular? Why the Fourth of July of course as Tesoro Key Club already has 3 related events in planning: working the City of Mission Viejo’s Carnival as well as that of Ladera Ranch. Tesoro Key Clubbers will also decorate the Heritage Hill Historical Park Float for the Lake Forest Fourth-of-July Parade. Tesoro Key Club is ready to make this summer count!
B-I-N-G-O Night
[Webmaster]
In the month of June, Tesoro Key Club hosted an important bingo night with the Vocational Visions organization—a non-profit organization that supports adults with developmental and other disabilities. Prior to the event, Key Club members went shopping for prizes that they thought the adults would enjoy. At the event, club members called out bingo numbers, helped the adults play bingo, and even made friends with some of the adults. This event was such an important one to the Tesoro Key Club because it was in conjunction with Kiwanis and also rewarding to all the members who attended.

Future Plans
Over the course of June, Tesoro Key Club has been busy planning many summer events to keep our members busy and productive with numerous service projects. We plan to help out at two different July 4th events: one with the city of Mission Viejo and one with Ladera Ranch. Both events are in preparation of the annual fireworks shows. Also, coming up we will be working with Families Forward and helping out with their annual summer food drive. We've been assigned to a Fresh & Easy store and are extremely excited to be participating in such a worthwhile cause. We will be helping to restock the food shelves at the Families Forward warehouse, whose food supply runs extremely low in the summer. With the new supply of food we hope to bring in, Families Forward will be able to continue supporting families in need all over Orange County. On another note, this month we are also planning to launch a website where members can view their current hours and find out about upcoming key club events. We hope that the website will be able to successfully help us to both keep our members informed and improve our club's organization. Although it's summer, Tesoro Key Club has not slowed down and we will continue to dedicate ourselves to service throughout the summer!
Culture Fair
[President]
Every year, Dana Hills holds a Culture Fair where clubs choose and make food from a certain country. DHHS Key Club picked Canada because it's the country we've always chosen and it just happens to serve us with the most profit. Our menu consisted of pancakes and maple donuts from Krispy Kreme. We initially had 18 dozen maple donuts, but after some time we sold out so quickly that we had to buy four dozen more. We also used two large bags of Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix. All of our food sold out before the end of Culture Fair and we made a total profit of $775.
Slow & Steady Wins the Race

On Monday, May 28, dedicated Dana Hills Key Club members spent their day off volunteering at the City of Laguna Hills Memorial Day Half Marathon.
