When I’m gone Release me, let me go. I have so Many things to see and do. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy that we had so many years. His Life
Hollis Lavier Goodwin Jr., an American Warrior was born November 30, 1980 to the proud parents Hollis and Valerie Goodwin. On February 12, 2015, he was called home to Glory to be with his Heavenly Father at the tender age of 34. He was also preceded in death by his beloved Grandmother, Mattie Jean Goodwin and mother Stephanie Bailey-Goodwin. Throughout Zae’s life he has been groomed to become a leader. At a very young age he joined Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church where he was baptized. Zae was educated in the Clayton County and Carrol County School systems where he graduated from Bowdon High School. He would later go on to join the United States Army in 2008. Where he served honorably until his death. Zae is a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG) posthumously and the Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak Leaf). SSG Hollis Goodwin was united in Holy Matrimony in 2013 to Danyal Evans. Through this union, they were blessed with two children. Altogether Zae had four children: LaZireya, LaNya, Damir, and Dayanna. Zae leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to his mother and father, Great Grandmothers Odessa Miles, Grandfather Lewis Gooden, Grandmother Ernestine Gooden; mother-in-law Beatrice F. Harris; special Uncle Patrick Goodwin, daughters LaZireya, LaNya, Dayanna and his only son, Damir; sisters, Demica Merritt, Kathy (Rickey) Sims, Erica (Gregory) Boyd, Carmeshia (Christopher) Midgett, Vierra Foster, Ambreia Foster; Brothers, Corey Dorsey, Captain Zantionyo Goodwin, Verndra Foster, Ambreia Fernando Gooden, and VeAngelo Goodwin; and a host of loving nieces, nephew, other relatives and close friends. Hollis/Zae/SSG Goodwin was a special, kind, and loving person. He had an attitude of excellence and took prided in everything he did. He loved his family more than anything. Zae loved his country and his Army family also. Throughout his life and until the end he stood on his own merits. Zae did not want anyone to worry about him.
