A STORY OF
The heart of intention at the Social Station is to stay humble and hustle hard. In the midst of our technological age, competition of retail and branding has increased tenfold. Yet the Social Station takes us back to our values of working hard for our individual or collaborative endeavors & pursuits without forfeiting ourselves to be like other people. My proposed design encourages an environment that places importance on individuality, helping hands, humble attitudes and hard work.
THE SOCIAL STATION
ONE MEETS MANY A
challenge is met once space opens itself up to house a multitude of people under ONE roof. Adding on a variety of work styles, mindsets, ethics and needs, requires a deeper understanding of efficient space and flexibility.
A Design Strategy:
Makers, sellers and consumers are welcomed as they enter the 7th floor of 603 Munger Street in downtown Dallas, Texas. As they walk out of the historic freight elevators, they are enveloped by the front of the “central core”, filled with pictures of the makers themselves, informal media touch screens, and a graphic/iconic stop for photo taking. All of which presents the identity of everyone who makes the Social Station alive. From there, the rest of the space unfolds.
THE 3 ESSENTIAL ASPECTS OF THE SOCIAL STATION
RETAIL + CO-WORKING SHARED + CO-WORKING DEDICATED
EFFICIENT SPACE
CO-WORKING
SHARED
Proper adjacency & placement of tasks that require similar needs or results, can help clean up negative space otherwise un-used. By individually grouping retail, shared and dedicated co-working functions, their surrounding environment becomes optimal to their work style. Then by placing shared services central to all zones, circulation is simplified, minimum expenditure between tasks is met, and performance can therefor increase.
CO-WORKING
DEDICATED
Proving enough variety of seating arrangements can allow for easy flow throughout the workday especially when certain tasks require more social, intimate, or independent settings; therefor supporting a variety of needs and activities within ONE office ecosystem.
