The world is moving forward in creation and destruction. Someone is dealing with a creation and someone made the destruction. On the other hand, many historical past is destructed for some irresponsible person of the authority. The golden past of any nation in the whole nation to gain a better future. As a result, the past is also important like the prese We are Bengali; we have lots of historical places all around the country. The monuments of history are scattered in various places of Bengal. Among them, Dubalhati Rajbari of one of the greatest historical places in the country.
Dubolhati Jomidar Bari is located at Dubolhati union of Naogaon district. The palace is located only 6 km south of Naogaon city. The Jomindar Bari is around 200 years of o Compare to the other Jomindar Bari from Bangladesh, this one is a massive one. But unfortunately the condition of this once upon luxurious compound is very poor. The cond palace is so miserable that it can collapse at any moment. In 1793, King Krishnanath began to govern the kingdom. He bought it from Lord Cornwallis with an amount of 14 lakh 4 hundred 95 Tk. Raja Krishnanath was childless and hi King Harnath Roy took charge of the kingdom in 1853. During the reign of King Harnath, the kingdom of Dubolhati expanded. He made theater and many monuments to enhance of the Dubolhati palace, dug many ponds in the vicinity of the palace to ful ll the demand of water of the common people. In 1864, a school was established with the initiative of t family. Later, the school was renamed Raja Harnath High School. After the abolition of the Jomidari system, King Harnath Roy moved to India. But the palace remained as a wit glorious past.
Roman-style pillars at the main gate of the palace bear the fondness of the kings at that time. The palace consisted of 7 compounds and around 300 rooms. The buildings inside were three-story or four-story. There was a Rajarajeshwari temple in the palace where the evening lamp was lit every evening. There is still a pit inside the palace. There was a pond named ‘Govinda Pukur’ in front of the Rajbari. Next to the pond, there was a traditional ‘Gan Bari’ building in the area, where various musical acts were played the people. At the far end of the Gan Bari, there was the Kali Temple, which is now full of darnel. King’s ‘Bagan Bari’ was about half a kilometer away from the Kali temple.
The ruined buildings of the palace indicate how glorious the Dubolhati reign was in past eras. This family had a huge in uence on the expansion of the state. Harnath Roy received the title ‘Raza’. Ancestors had been awarded the title ‘Jomidar’ given by the Mughals.
It has been said that Jagataram, the founded the Dubolhati Jomidar dynasty was a salt trader who came to the village near Dubolhati for trade and started leasing the area of bee they owned a lot of lands. It has been said that since there was no such crop in the area, the Bhumma Mahal used to pay tax with the climbing perch sh. Only 22 Kahn shes w tax. The royal family has been recognized for providing revenue through 22 Kahn climbing perch shes included in the Guinness Book of World.
At present, the condition of the Rajbari is very miserable. After the abolition of the Jomidari, the Department of Archaeology of Bangladesh has taken the custody of this buildi they didn't do anything to preserve this. Nowadays it’s a perfect place for drug addicts and similar people. The palace has become the focal point of open anti-social activities. T do not do any harm to the visitors, still it hinders the free movement of a traveler for sure. The doors and windows from all the buildings are missing. Even people started to remove the bricks from the walls too. These poor buildings can collapse in any day if the earthquake is mild enough. Climbing to the second oor of the buildings is very much risky.
One portion of the western side of the historical palace has collapsed two times recently due to the absence of repairing and maintenance for a long time. There is no such authority to look after the palace. As a result, the historical palace is on the verge of ruin. DailyBangladesh/Sohug
