The fashion and food cognoscenti graced Topping Rose House for American Express Platinum and THE DAILY SUMMER’s midsummer soirée. The party was hosted by Platinum Collective member Pamela Schein Murphy, founder of The Select 7, who celebrated Select Guest Anna Kaiser of AKT, who is responsible for some of the East End’s tautest bods. THE DAILY SUMMER and Sunglass Hut kicked off the final weekend of July in Amagansett with an alfresco dinner on the beach. Guests noshed on a delicious spread, provided by Hampton Clambake, made s’mores by the bonfire, and tried on a range of Ray-Ban sunnies, which everyone got to take home. The group caught the gorgeous bright pink sunset that took over the East End and hung out until the wee hours of the night.

To Shelter Island! My kiddos are always game for a field trip, and Shelter Island has been our go-to for years. Getting there: The Shelter Island ferry is always an option, but I prefer to arrive in style! Round up the squad—and a friend with a really nice boat—and enjoy a speedy ride over. Dock up at one of The Island Boatyard’s day slips, where you can catch some live music and a cocktail later in the day! What to do: My first stop is Piccozzi's Bike Shop, where we rent bikes and explore one of the many scenic bike routes. From there, it’s kayaking, exploring the Mashomack Nature Preserve, sailing lessons at the Shelter Island Yacht Club, or heading to the beach. Where to dine: Sunset Beach Restaurant Café & Bar, for a little taste of Finish off the the French Riviera and day with a glass coastal Italy.

Why did you bring the celebration to the Hamptons? Baby2Baby has never done an event on the East Coast on this scale, so I thought it would be a great way to introduce it. Also, because we spend so much time on the West Coast, we thought it would be nice to branch out. The collection is called The GREAT Adventure, so we took an adventure! How are you spending your free time? I like being in nature and playing outside until the sun goes down. This is my friend’s [Kelly Sawyer] parents’ house. They have an apple orchard and peaches that you can pick. It’s a simple, laid-back, and relaxed life. Have you taken vacation this summer? I took the kids to Hawaii, and we did lots of swimming. Who changes more diapers in the marriage? It’s whoever is around the baby the most, but whenever my husband [Cash Warren] is home, he doesn’t let me change the diapers. He actually likes it!

What inspired the creation of Maison de Mode? [Cofounder] Hassan Pierre had a successful ethical fashion line, and I was working as an editor. We saw that ethical fashion was not getting the attention and support it deserved. We set up a one-off concept shop in December 2012 at Soho House during Art Basel Miami, and after two years, we got together and were like, “We think this can be a business!” Have you fully transformed your closet with sustainable/ ethical designers? Nope! But I do not shop at any of the fast-fashion chains and I don’t wear any skins except leather. If I won’t wear it at least 30 times, then I won’t buy it. What are your plans for the rest of the summer? I’m excited to hang at my mom’s farm out East, play with the farm animals, and read on the porch.

For Elle Macpherson, it’s not just about living a beautiful life, it’s about living a healthy one, too. After dominating the modeling world, the Aussie is tapping into the health and wellness space with her company WelleCo and its star product, The Super Elixir, an alkalizing formula of super greens. We'll have what she's having! BY SYDNEY SADICK How is your approach to health and wellness different from 20 years ago? In the past, there was more pressure to focus on what I weighed and what dress size I was. It was more about beauty. Today, I see the value of wellness as a No. 1 priority. That means being nourished. How did you come up with the idea for WelleCo? It happened organically! My partner and cofounder Andrea Horwood Bux and I recognized this movement that beauty comes from the inside out, which is so compelling to the future of beauty. About two years ago, WelleCo was one of the first companies to bring a natural ingestible alkaline formula into Selfridges. We saw that people were feeling transformed and were sharing their experiences on social media. The combination of our pure and unique product [The Super Elixir], with our manufacturing standards and the efficiency of these all-natural plant-based nutrients, has really driven our growth. What effects have you seen from the product? I recently did a day of alkaline and I was really specific

about the food I ate. It wasn’t really a cleanse but a focus. I noticed things like the brown spots on my face from the sun had lessened because there wasn’t acidity in my body. I also learned to replace some of the food I ate with more vegetables and fruits so my body could return to an alkaline state, which means your digestive system works better and your liver gets rest and recuperates. Our formula is very potent and highly absorbable. I drink mine in the morning with filtered water. What does your diet look like today? I eat plant-based and raw foods as much as I can. I also eat organic. I’ve noticed a big difference in the way I look and feel. When I was younger I didn’t pay as much attention to my diet or the nutrients I put into my body—I just wanted a quick-fix from the outside. I didn’t believe that working from the inside out worked, but my experiences have taught me that if I can balance myself on the inside, it definitely shows on the outside. Do you cook? I prepare food, since a lot of my food is raw. I have a

dehydrator and I’ll use things like flax seeds to make dough for bread or granola. I make yogurt from young coconuts and lemon juice, as well as humus and tahini. I know how to prepare the foods I love to eat, which are hard to find when I’m out. What’s your indulgence? My indulgence is having the time to prepare the food I love to eat. I don’t look at it as a treat to eat a bunch of sugar, because I don’t feel great afterward. When I go to a restaurant and they have wonderful organic food on their menu that’s prepared with care, that’s a splurge. Not many restaurants are that conscious. What’s your workout routine like these days? Being active is important from a wellness point of view, not [only] for looks. When I was younger, my routine was about burning calories and lifting weights in a particular period of time to sculpt my body. As I’ve matured, I’ve realized I need to listen to my body. I believe it’s important to be active outdoors in fresh air for an hour a day, if you can. I’ll get up at 6 a.m., jump on the bike, and ride to the beach to have a swim. I’ll do about an hour of deep-breathing exercises and meditation. If I’m on the road, I’ll bring my running shoes and jog around just to check out where I am. Do you still like being in front of the camera? It isn’t what I do on a day-to-day basis anymore, so only when I have to be. I’m behind the scenes a lot more. Frankly, I have a lot more requests to be in front of the camera than ever before. I’m 53, so I think there’s a very profound demographic of women who have disposable

income and are looking for women their age who they can relate to. What are your thoughts on the new generation of models? The fashion industry has changed so much since the ’80s and the ’90s, when there was an iconic status to the girls in fashion who were well-known by their names and their faces. They were versatile because they would do runway, TV commercials, bathing suits, fashion, and more. That was the beginning of the diversification, which we’re seeing so much of today. Before the ’80s you were either a commercial model, a swimsuit model, or whatnot—you never really did it all—but in the ’80s and ’90s we had girls who were great at making a name for themselves in everything. To some extent, we see a lot of girls bridging that gap today. Both Gigi and Bella Hadid are doing that: They’re doing runway, beauty, fashion, and have a huge following. It’s an interesting time. Social media has undoubtedly had a major impact on the evolution of the industry. Social media has made fashion and beauty more accessible. When I was working, the more distanced you were from the public, the more iconic and successful you were. Today, the closer you are to your public, the more attainable your beauty is, and the more approachable you are, then you’re most successful. You have two teenage sons. Do you think they’ll get into modeling? They’re focusing on their education, which I think is very important. One of my sons is studying business and entrepreneurship in Boston, and my youngest is just going into high school. I support my children in their individual dreams, whatever they are. My oldest has a pilot’s license and is very well-rounded and
motivated. I like to guide him the best I can and as much as I can along the way. He talks to me a lot about the decisions he makes. Have you done any family traveling this summer? I went to Tulum in Mexico with my kids, which was wonderful. It’s close to Miami but also has profound culture. I like taking the boys to unusual places where we're not just sitting on the beach. You’ve lived in Miami for over two years. Have you thought about living anywhere else? Before moving here, I lived in London for 17 years. Before that, I lived in New York for 14 years, and before that, I was in L.A. for three years. I was also in and out of Paris for about seven years. I’ve loved every place I’ve lived, just for different reasons. Your products are available at The Surf Lodge! I love The Surf Lodge. Andrea and I were there last year for our founders’ escape, where we brainstorm how we want the business to grow and what we’re interested in. It’s a very special part of the world. Surf Lodge has a great vibe, and it’s wonderful to have a collaboration with them. What do you like to do in the Hamptons? I love riding my bike around town. I have friends who are out there and will follow their lead. I find it very fulsome. I love surfing and waterskiing and sailing. The farmers markets are great. FlyWheel is brilliant for people who like to spin. So, what’s planned come Fall? We’re growing our business with WelleCo and my lingerie line, which is comfortable and sexy. The market is changing, so keeping up with how the category evolves takes energy. The concepts work well together in that they’re quality products. For Nicole Miller, Fall is on the mind. With New York Fashion Week just around the corner, we talked to one of our favorite East End-loving designers about how she adapts, on the fashion and Hamptons fronts. BY SYDNEY SADICK photography by tawni bannister
What have you been up to this summer? I’ve been doing my usual: waterskiing and wakeboarding once or twice a weekend. I’ve been working on my 360s. Other than that, I’ve been doing a lot of cooking. Any new recipes to recommend? I’ve been experimenting with Thai bouillabaisse. I always make a ton of pies, primarily rhubarb in the beginning of the season, and I switch to peach in August. Have you considered writing a cookbook? I had an outline for a book on entertaining. My dinner parties are very often like my fashion shows, [centering on] whatever exotic place I went to last. They’re internationally and culturally inspired. Have you hosted much this summer? I’ve been having lunches with my family and friends. I love hosting groups and very often we have friends over who have younger kids my son's age, mingling the 20-year-olds with the grown-ups. I like to serve dishes with fresh corn and tomatoes, and we always get mozzarella at the Serene Green farm stand. What parties have you attended this season? I went to Super Saturday and the Parrish Art Museum event. I also went to LongHouse Reserve where The Brooklyn Peaches, a dance group, performed. They wore my Resort dresses, which was fun. Lela Rose is a fellow designer who loves to entertain. Are you two pals? We are friendly, and I like her a lot. She lives near me in Tribeca. We haven’t had each other over but we keep talking about it. One of these days we’ll get it together. You're a wine aficionado—what is your end-ofsummer bev? We always do a lot of rosé. My staple is Wölffer Vineyard, but I like Whispering Angel a lot, too. Fall is just around the corner…tell us about your collection! I dubbed it “gypsy grunge.” I always make my PreFall and Fall collections relate, and I want Resort and Spring to somewhat relate, because to have totally FA S H I O N W E E K D A I L Y. C O M

different themes isn't fluid. The Pre-Fall collection was set on St. Mark’s Place and nods to all of its characters. I ended up landing on this fortune-teller and psychic note, so Fall became an astrological and psychic theme. I used all of those different elements and symbols and gave it a street vibe. Pre-Fall is in stores now, and it’s been doing well. Fall is going to be a hit. You hosted your Pre-Fall press event at a tattoo shop where editors could get piercings and tattoos. Do you have any? I have two tattoos—one is a sun, moon, and clouds, and the other is a butterfly that I got in Hong Kong 30 years ago—and I got another ear piercing the day of the preview. I couldn’t believe how many people went for that stuff. It was crazy! There must have been 20 girls with tattoos and another 30 who got piercings. I thought it was going to be two or three. After decades in the biz, do you still get butterflies before your fashion shows? No, I never get butterflies. The only point that I get nervous is when the music starts. One time a model was walking down the runway and half of her blouse opened and her nipple was totally exposed. Another time a girl broke a heel and she just kept on going like the heel was still there—she didn’t miss a beat. And one time the music got stuck. There was once this model—she had such attitude—who chewed gum all the way up and down the runway. Can you imagine? After that, nobody in Europe wanted her. She must have been chewing gum everywhere! But it’s just little things that have gone wrong. We

haven’t had anything horrible happen, like somebody falling. Can you give us a hint as to what Spring ’18 will look like? I like to do contrasts—I’m always very much uptown, downtown and good girl, bad girl. I’ve got another hard and soft contrast going on this year. What’s your take on see-now, buy-now? Not for me. It makes no sense. Everybody’s forgotten about it anyway, haven’t they? I think people were just doing it for press and now everybody’s back to normal. Contestants from The Bachelor frequently attend your show. Are you a fan? I know Andi Dorfman, but it's a different kind of relationship. We’ve done a lot of things together over the years, like videos. Because of that, we’re more friendly. I never watch the show, but I had a girlfriend who was on The Bachelor, so I did watch that season. The guy was Jerry O’Connell’s brother, and my girlfriend was about the third to last. She said she really thought she was going to win! She thought he really liked her and that they had a great relationship and chemistry. He went for the school teacher from Texas. That was kind of strange. Are there any TV shows coming up that you’re excited about? I was hoping that they would do Pretty Little Liars again. That was pretty good. I liked The Night Manager. I tend to like things that don’t continue. There are so many shows that have had six seasons, and I’ll watch the first and the second, and the third I

don’t watch at all. I like when it’s one season of six to eight episodes. What else is new these days? We’re expanding our menswear, and some of our licenses are developing. We have this line of shirts, and it’s under NMAN. It’s really cute, and I’m going to expand that. We have a lot of men’s accessories too. Which guys inspire those designs? Between my son and husband, that’s enough. They are very particular. My son used to be a surfer boy and now he is more “mister preppy.” It’s very specific. We were going to lunch yesterday and he was putting on this polo shirt and I was like, "That’s wrinkly, you’re not wearing that." He put on a chambray and rolled up his sleeves. Talking about it was my best therapy. You’re so honest on the show! Have you always been that way? Yes, I’m definitely an oversharer. I trust people a lot. I don’t feel I have anything to hide. I like friends who are open and honest, and not holding back. What do you overshare? I’m not going to break it down, but…everything. Can you watch yourself on the show? Definitely. We see the episodes a few days before they air. It’s a little scary! You remember what you said and what you did, and you don’t know what [the producers] are going to choose to show. I’m a girl, too, so I’m looking at my hair or what I was wearing. It’s fun to see your life documented. The first time I met my boyfriend was on camera. Our first kiss was filmed, too! Let’s talk about this man! His name is Scott Kluth and he’s from Chicago. He’s a good friend of Carole Radziwill, and she set us up. It was toward the end of filming the season and we went on a blind date. I didn’t really know many details, but I took Carole’s word that he was a good guy. I had so much fun on the date and it went a lot longer than we expected. Then we went down to Miami for a couple of days and we’re still together now. What’s his story? It’s incredible how much can change in a year. I’m He runs a company called Coupon Cabin and he’s so grateful to be back in New York and a part of this really successful. She’s back! After a stint in Palm Beach, Tinsley Mortimer packed her bags and returned to New York to become the newest cast member of The Real Housewives of New York. How have you been enjoying your summer? We stopped filming [The Real Housewives of New York] in March, and I’ve since been traveling to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Spain, the Florida Keys, and Chicago a lot to see my new boyfriend. We’ll get to that shortly! We last saw you at Jill Zarin’s party this summer. I haven’t been heading out East as much as I’d like to. Jill’s 5th annual Luxury Luncheon benefit and Super Saturday was the first time I was out there all summer, but I’m hoping to head back soon. I was there in the fall and winter to shoot the show. It’s so cozy that time of year. I’ve been going out East for 20 years now. How’s life since you’ve returned to New York? It’s been great! I am so grateful for [castmate] Sonia [Morgan]. The limelight comes along with being back in New York. I wanted to step away from it for a while, and that’s the reason I went to Palm Beach for four years and, you know…it was a bit of a rough time. SHARPEN UP As the onset of Fall nears, we check in with Ramy Brook designer Ramy Sharp about what’s lined up, from her luxe collection of faux furs to her redecorated digs to her golf game and beyond. Take it away, Ramy!
How have you been spending your summer? My two boys are home, and my oldest is off to college so I’m trying to spend as much time together as possible. We recently picked up golf as a family. I’m not that good. [Laughs] When I’m out in the Hamptons, I have this fun routine of working out at SoulCycle—I just added Tracy Anderson to my repertoire, which is really, really hard—and grabbing coffee at The Golden Pear with friends. This year, I’m trying to get to the beach more, but I’m not the biggest beach person. Is your golf game improving? If you see me hit off the tee, you’d think I could be pretty decent. Once I get on the green, then you realize I’m an amateur. But I’m not giving up! What’s fun about where we golf, The Bridge [in Bridgehampton], is they don’t have a very strict dress code, so I can wear a little tennis skirt or a T-shirt, and it makes it easier. Have you discovered any new places out East this summer? There are some great places in Montauk that are fun for group lunches and dinners. The big one is Duryea’s. There’s another on 27 that has been a million different things. This year, it’s Calissa, and that has a fun vibe. We eat at home a lot—my husband is a great cook—so we don’t go out that often. What are his signature dishes? He’s known for his meatballs. We have a big celebration in August called “Meatball Madness.” It’s a family party with all our friends and the kids too. He also makes great chicken and fish. There’s nothing he can’t make, at least that I love. That’s why I have to work out twice as hard and have added Tracy Anderson to my workout. describe your décor aesthetic? When we built our house in 2000 [in Bridgehampton], it was decorated to be childfriendly. My couches had glitter glue all over them, and it definitely read “three little children live here.” As time went on, we felt we could change some of that furniture. It’s still modern and clean. Everything is white, which does scare me, but we’re hoping that as young teenagers, the kids can respect that. [Laughs] We used this great decorator, Amy Kalikow. She cleaned up the place with brighter colors and modern furniture. It became a great canvas for our art collection, which brings life to the home. Let’s talk more about your art collection, which includes works by several Hamptons artists. Eric Freeman is the artist who did the square painting above the fireplace. When we bought it, he was local. My art consultant took us to see his work in a warehouse in East Hampton. The painting is bright and unique, and it fits beautifully on the wall. The

He’s known for his surfboard series and flowers. Flowers weren’t really our thing. I love orange and it’s our company color, so it was a no-brainer. We have another orange painting with words and numbers, by a German artist. I just loved that piece! We bought some of these before my company. I guess I always liked orange. What do you have lined up for Fall? Right now, we’re getting ready for market. We developed a new cover-up line that comes out in November. We have a lot of photo shoots coming up and our Spring 2018 line is doubled from last year. Fall just started to drop in stores in July. It’s one of my favorite seasons to dress for—I love wearing a sweater and a cute jacket or fur shrug. All of our furs are faux furs. We wanted to do a whole collection of them in a lot of fun colors, like blue and orange, which ties back to our Fall color palette, which is a little more rustic and jewel-toned. We’re also increasing our variety of sweaters and jackets, and we’ve been working on our selection of bottoms. Now there are bottoms for every top. That came from feedback from the department stores. Customers love our tops and dresses, but really want a full outfit. We’re more of a collection now than ever before. Tell us more about the cover-up line! The whole reason I developed it is because when I travel, I want to feel what I call “easy glam.” To me, the best cover-ups are comfortable, pretty, and look right over your bathing suit. We also developed a few bikinis in solid colors to match the cover-ups. It was important for me to develop a few that are long, flowy, and sexy, and some that are cute and short. The cover-ups are focused on brights and prints, which makes it really fun. There’s something for everybody, which is the same DNA as my readyto-wear line. How do you spend your time in the Hamptons in the Fall months? Fall is the prettiest time in the Hamptons. When the kids were younger, we did pumpkin and apple picking. We’ll probably still do that—carve the pumpkin, take out the seeds, and cook them up. I love going out to eat in the Fall, because you can actually get into the restaurants. [Laughs] It’s such a different crowd. It’s relaxing and beautiful during that time of the year, so it’s such a joy coming here on the weekends. ß

Patricia Bonaldi turned what was once a custom gown business in Uberlândia, Brazil, into a full-blown luxury brand she calls PatBo. As Bonaldi prepares for the stateside arrival of her joy-fueled and embroideryrich designs, she discusses how, stitch by stitch, she’s fashioning an empire. BY ASHLEY BAKER You’re a very well-known designer in Brazil. How did you build your business from a multibrand store to a full-fledged luxury brand in such a short time? I grew up in a small country town called Uberlândia. While studying law, I pursued my passion for design and opened my own store. Soon after, I began receiving requests to design custom gowns, which quickly turned into an eveningwear collection. This cemented my future as a designer and I graduated in fashion design a few years later. Combining my design heritage with bolder ideas and a newfound creative freedom, I launched PatBo. As the business grew, I founded a school in Uberlândia, teaching local men and women the art of craftsmanship. Today, I have seven freestanding stores in Brazil, with presence in key global accounts including Harrods and Moda Operandi.

How did the success of your eveningwear collection inspire the launch of PatBo? PatBo represents my background in detailed embroidery with a new creative freedom combining bold textures, colors, and materials. Tell us about your studio in Brazil. What does an average day look like for you? I spend most of my time between Uberlândia, where my factory and school are located, and São Paulo, where I have an atelier. I am present throughout the development of each collection; I fit every sample, I approve all embroidery tests, and I oversee the stamping process to make sure every piece is perfect. Who is the PatBo customer? What sort of personality does she have? The PatBo customer is more attitude than age. She is fearless. She is confident in who she is, she maintains her essence and is not afraid to experiment with trends. She is feminine and strong, graceful and bold. Your clothes are so joyful. What are your favorite ways to have fun? I love to travel, to discover new cultures and places. I travel a lot for work but always stay a few extra days to enjoy the place I am in. PatBo’s aesthetic includes a lot of prints, embellishments, and beautiful fabrics. How do you develop those aspects of the collection? From the beginning, colors and embroidery have been

a part of the brand’s DNA. I built the business on a single thread, and that art of craftsmanship remains a foundation of each collection. I find seasonal inspiration in my surroundings. How do you think the Brazilian fashion industry has evolved over the course of your career? There are many talented Brazilian designers, all with a unique point of view. With social media today, I think there are more eyes on Brazil, which gives the brands here a wider audience. I see a beautiful future for the Brazilian fashion industry. What prompted the decision to launch in the United States for Fall ’17? It has always been a dream of mine to bring PatBo to the U.S. PatBo has seen strong growth in Brazil and the momentum has been building over the last few years. We have presence with a few wholesale partners and this year it just felt right to go bigger. How is that launch expected to roll out? Our focus is e-commerce. We're launching PatBo.com
domestically this month while simultaneously launching a global partnership with Farfetch. Which U.S. markets are you targeting first? We are looking at the U.S. business holistically, with hopes to build presence in key wholesale accounts across the country. In retail we are looking to open stores in New York and Los Angeles. What was the starting point for your Fall ’17 collection? The collection is inspired by the streetwear universe, a culmination of cultural and artistic expressions. The line expresses itself through materials, finishes, and interpretations, with couture elements. You recently collaborated with Converse. Will that be available in the U.S. at any point? My second collaboration with Converse launched globally July 5, with two styles inspired by the Fall collection, mixing colors, prints, and my signature embroidery into the design. The collection is available in select U.S. retail stores and on PatBo.com. I have another collaboration coming up with Super Sunglasses. Select styles will appear on the runway at São Paulo Fashion Week, with a small capsule collection to hit stores later this year. You have a massive following on Instagram. What’s your strategy? It is important for me to be organic and authentic. I post day by day and images that I love.

Daniela Falcão, who was editor-in-chief at Vogue Brazil, invited me to show at São Paulo Fashion Week for the very first time. I am forever grateful to her for that opportunity. Influencers are an integral part of the Brazilian fashion industry. If you had a little too much fun in the sun this summer, turn to Dr. Imber’s Youth Corridor Clinic. The NYC-based skincare sanctuary provides bespoke consultations that factor in genetics and lifestyle and creates custom regimens. The no-nonsense doctor explains the method to his magic. BY PAIGE REDDINGER You’re a plastic surgeon—what drew you to skincare specifically? When I went into practice, my partner and I did the first 100 breast reconstructions after mastectomy in New York. But it’s the same operation every time, so I started doing a range of cosmetic surgeries, and developed a less invasive facelift called the “Limited-Incision or Short-Scar facelift.” That became the gold standard. When I started writing about it, I realized I was less interested in doing it. Why not chip away at things to look young and like yourself? That gave birth to all of this. I wrote a book called The Youth Corridor, which was a bestseller. It says that prevention, maintenance, and correction are what it’s all about. [My peers] hated me for it. [Laughs] What’s the idea behind the bespoke services at Youth Corridor Clinic? There’s a five-year plan. I’ll tell a patient, “This is where you are now, this is what you can expect to happen over the next five years, and this is how you can challenge it or live with it.” I get them to ground zero, and from there they have access to me all the time. They can call, text, drop in. What are some of the special treatments? We have a peel that we call the “no-peel peel,” a 70 percent glycolic peel. It gets all the junk off, but it doesn’t turn your skin red, so you can go back to work. We do dermaplane. We have a hot new laser. We used to do the Fraxel laser treatment, but it kept you swollen for months, we charged a lot, and I felt guilty. We try to live up to the things in which I believe. We have the most experience in fat transfer. Even when people ask for a little lift, I often say,
“Let’s just put some fat here and some over here.” Where do you usually take the fat from? Everybody has a donor site. There ain’t nobody getting away from that! You only have to do it maybe twice in a lifetime. It's a little more expensive in the beginning, but fat is the way to go. I’ve done roughly 25,000 fat injections and 5,000 facelifts. I know what products work and what products don’t, and I’ll tell you the truth about all of them, including ours. How can we tell what works and what doesn’t? Things that actually work and that have scientific support are based on Retinoids, Retin A, and Vitamin C. The rest of them are moisturizers, and those are just supposed to seal in the moisture. That’s it. When did you start the skincare line? About five years ago. I found that if you mix 15 percent ascorbic acid— the active form of Vitamin C—with Vitamin E and melatonin, you get a phenomenal product that penetrates the skin. Somebody who ran the skincare department at Harrods in London started buying the product online and asked if we’d like to have our products in the store. Then someone wanted to invest in the company, so we expanded the line. Everything else is on Net-a-Porter or our website. What’s your most popular product? How do you determine cost for your bespoke five-year plan? The biggest cost is the consultation. That’s $750. Afterward, I tell the esthetician where to start and we do really simple things first. We photograph every patient every time and we keep an actual medical record. Will you open other locations? For now, I want to keep it within my office to keep my finger on it. I have a “I don’t quite believe it” mentality. I don’t believe anything a rep tells us. We are an honest operation. I don’t know if you know this scientific phrase, “No bullsh*t.” That’s really who I am. ß

If you thought that girl on Main Street in Sag Harbor looked a lot like NCIS’ Ellie Bishop, your eyes weren’t fooling you. Actress Emily Wickersham resides full-time in Los Angeles to shoot the long-running show, but she takes any chance she can to return home to her East Endbased family. What first brought you out East? I grew up in Mamaroneck, New York, and I came out East on and off when I was a kid. My parents [Amy and John Wickersham] eventually rented houses out here. Now they live here full time. We’re very close, so whenever I have time off from work, I spend as much time here as I want. Your family resides in Sag Harbor? Yes! It’s the best. I love Main Street so much. There’s something so charming about Sag. It’s become so popular, but it’s definitely maintained its roots. The fire at the movie theater over the winter was a blow to the town. It was so sad. Every time I’m in the Hamptons, I take pictures in front of the theater. The old sign is incredible. My parents have been involved in raising money to get the theater up and going by auctioning off artwork. I’ve been getting play-by-play updates. What kind of artists are your parents? My mom is a painter and my dad is a businessmanturned-painter. He does these amazing drawings, and my parents have been collaborating. It’s very fun to see them work together. My home is populated with their artwork. It’s like a gallery! What have you been up to this summer? I went back to L.A. a few weeks ago after being away all summer. I went to St. Barts, Aspen, and my parents’ house in Sag. I’ll be working the rest of the summer! Is it weird going back to work when everyone else is going on holiday? It’s hard, sometimes! I love that we get off, but I wish that it was later in the summer so I could really reap the benefits of those months. On the other hand, having May and June off is nice because places aren’t crazy crowded. Can you give us a teaser of the new season of NCIS? I wish I had more knowledge about what’s going to happen, but I don’t. We never know because we get the scripts a couple days before shooting. The amazing thing about this show is that it’s in its 15th season and a lot of people are still watching it and the writers are still surprising a lot of the fans. It’s fun to be a part of. Did you get recognized in Sag Harbor this summer? A little bit! People are usually pretty sweet, which is nice. It happens at airports more often. ß

GARDENING GO-TO For my dad’s birthday, I bought a Japanese maple tree from Marders (120 Snake Hollow Rd.) in Bridgehampton. I could wander around there for days. BEACHES Sagg Main, and if I want to stay close to home, Havens Beach in the little bay area. SUMMER READ I started this book Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, but mostly I find that I read scripts. SEASONAL STYLE I’m very casual, unless I go to a party. I’m in my bathing suit and a coverup, sandals, and a hat all day long. At night I’ll wear a pair of my old Levi’s and a cute top with some espadrilles or a long dress. I like fashion a lot. I have a lot of Isabel Marant, I love Valentino, and I love my Prada heels.

Monica Reiner had summered in the Hamptons since the ’80s— and even once called a yacht docked in Sag Harbor home—before she quit her fashion gig in New York City and settled in for good. After discovering a passion for real estate some 25 years ago, this Douglas Elliman agent is now at the top of her game.
BY KRISTEN HEINZINGER PHOTOGRAPHY BY HELEN ERIKSSON What were you doing before real estate? I grew up in Long Island, then went to FIT. At first I was in the fashion business. My husband at the time was in real estate, so I decided to leave fashion and work with him. That was the early ’90s, so I’ve been in the business for over 25 years. Tell us about your career in fashion! I’d studied buying and merchandising and textiles, and I worked for an intimate apparel company, Lily of France. I was assistant to the VP of sales and did merchandising as well. It was the year they launched the thong, which was a very interesting time. We did private label for Christian Dior. We always had models around, put together fashion shows, that kind of thing. It gave me a good eye for staging homes to make them look their best. What appealed to you about real estate? I found fashion in residential real estate, whether it was the different styles of homes, the décor, or in understanding peoples’ needs the way you do when selling in fashion. I've also done a few gut renovations, redoing kitchens and bathrooms down to the doorknobs and windows. I recently did a project in Sag Harbor on the water, which I sold about a year and a half ago. What’s one of your most fashionable sales? The one in Sag Harbor, and recently I sold a house in Georgica custom designed by an interior designer. It’s very unique, and it just sold for $5.5 million. What’s your personal sense of style like? Fashion has always been a big part of my life. I like to put my own twist on fashion, so it’s not about a label but about putting the look together. Which shops do you frequent in the Hamptons? My go-tos are Calypso St. Barth, J.Crew, and Theory. I just bought an over-the-top blazer from Stephanie von Watzdorf’s line Figue. The brand tries to find ways to give back. I feel like a tourist when I go shopping because I don’t have much time to do it, but I have to dress for success! When did you officially move to the Hamptons? I’d been summering in the Hamptons since the early ’80s. I did, and still do, a lot of boating. We bought a house in 1990, after we had been summering in Sag Harbor, living on a yacht. I raised my children out here. I officially began selling real estate in the Hamptons in 2004 and have been doing it ever since. I have been working with Enzo Morabito’s team— one of the top teams in this whole area—for the past three years. Tell us more about yacht living… I was living on a yacht at Baron’s Cove. It was when Sag Harbor was the un-Hamptons. When I had children, I ended up buying a house in Bay Point, which was on the water and had a dock. We did a lot of day boating to all of the beautiful places surrounding Shelter Island. I moved to East Hampton about five years ago.

Would you ever live on a boat again? I have been hanging out on my friend’s 85-foot boat, so if it was that size or bigger, yeah! [Laughs] How else do you like to spend your time? Now that I’m an empty-nester, I go out to eat a lot. I am a big foodie! I love Almond in Bridgehampton, The Old Stove Pub in Sagaponack, Nick & Toni’s, Baron’s Cove for drinks. A few of my new favorites are Dopo La Spiaggia in East Hampton, Le Bilboquet, and Bay Kitchen Bar. I also like to go to the gym, and do Silich Core + Strength and TRX. I love boating and going to the beach. Whatever time I do have in the summer, I spend outdoors or with friends. Which local organizations are you involved in? I like to support The Retreat, and I try to spread the word about how they help the community. I’m also involved in Hadassah. My kids attended the Ross School, and I’ve chaired many events and was on the board for years. What's next on the calendar? I love summer because my birthday is toward the end and I get together with my friends. And spending time with my children! ß
