LOOKING FOR LOVE!
SCENE
• It’s looking like a joyful June! With so much to see, do, watch, and read, here’s a chic sheet to what everyone will be talking about at your next dinner party. • Did someone say L.A. Fashion Week? No, not quite! But Chanel recently brought the glitterati to the City of Angels, with billboards teasing the “One Night Only” event popping up around town. The collection itself, presented at Paramount Studios, was a playful ode to Cali cool—right down to the roller skates. We know what to pack for our next trip to Venice Beach!
FASHION BUZZ!
Beloved designer Peter Do is taking the reins at Helmut Lang, and it couldn’t be more fitting. Vietnam-born Do has gained a loyal fan base for his sharp, sleek, impeccably tailored pieces, so there’s no one better suited to lead a brand that defined New York style in the ’90s. His debut collection reveal this NYFW is sure to be the hottest ticket in town!
HOW YOU DOIN’?
We love a niche reference, and style star Hailey Bieber stepping out in a Porsche cap couldn’t help but make us laugh about Joey “I’m in character” Tribiani’s momentary love affair with the luxury car.
Launching June 1, exclusive new dating app TELEPORT is billed as a “private members matchmaking universe”—oooh! Instead of seemingly endless swiping and algorithms more chaotic than the matches themselves, this platform utilizes AI and plans to host IRL meetups for members in its “curated community of esteemed singles” instead. Okay, cupid, consider us hooked.
BEAUTY CORNER!
When it comes to our summer beauty vibe, we’re taking cues from Sofia Richie Grainge’s viral wedding. A slicked-back low bun, clear skin, creamy blush, and plumping lip balm— what more could we ask for? Well, maybe her Chanel bridal wardrobe, too.
Meanwhile! It’s no secret that Gen Z is obsessed with Y2K and the ’90s, so it makes sense that they’re looking to the era’s hair icons now, too. We asked the duo behind Mark Ryan Salon what’s happening in their chairs, and they said fashion girlies are all asking for up-dos inspired by Pamela Anderson and Monica from Friends. Retro!

Ask the experts, and they’ll tell you that pink is having a moment in the interiors world right now. But they’re not talking about formerly trending shades like the omnipresent millennial hue of the mid 2010s, or Pantone-backed rose quartz or magenta. Rather, this au courant update is an earthier almost mauve pink, which feels both bohemian and rustic while bringing to mind sun-drenched European villas. Inside The Daily’s Seventh-Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards
The Daily Front Row headed West last month to celebrate the fashion industry’s finest, and it felt like all of Tinseltown came out to party, too. At the annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards (FLAs), recently retired stylist Law Roach emceed a star-studded ceremony that honored many of the biggest names of today. Guests arrived in all their finery to the lush surroundings of the Beverly Hills Hotel’s iconic Crystal Ballroom, stepping out onto the red carpet to show off their looks. The evening honored those working both behind the scenes and those who are front and center. This year’s honorees were Gwyneth Paltrow, G. Label by goop, Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy, The White Lotus star Meghann Fahy, Chris Appleton, Bradley Kenneth, Warren Alfie Baker, Jeanne Yang, W magazine, Dani Michelle, Sara Moonves, Eli Mizrahi, MÔNOT, and Tasha Reiko Brown.
Presenters included Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian and daughter North West, Brie Larson, Sara Foster, Elle Fanning, Keanu Reeves, Matt Bomer, Logan Browning, Jen Atkin, and Teyana Taylor, who celebrated their friends and colleagues with personal and poignant speeches.

Kim Kardashian and North West, presenting Hair Artist of the Year to Chris Appleton
“It’s not that often that someone comes into your life and changes it in such a major and special way. Chris Appleton is just that for me. He is the best friend who builds you up. I can ask him what looks good in all aspects. I can tell him all my personal business, and I know he’s a vault and it will never get out. We can party in Vegas until three in the morning and get tattoos. Not me. He is simply the best! He pushes me to try new looks, new wigs, new cuts. He takes you out of your comfort zone and makes you feel special.”

“I want to thank Lukas [Gage] for being my rock and making me feel perfect when I know I’m not. Most of all, thank you to Kim. Everyone I’ve ever met always says how kind she is and honestly, hand on heart, she’s the nicest person I’ve ever met. She’s so giving and so generous and really doesn’t have to be. She’s the nicest person to anyone that walks in the room, whomever it is. I’ve actually learned a lot from her. I’m proud to have her as a client and obviously, she’s my hair muse, but more than that, she’s my really good friend.”

We’ve been best friends for over a decade, and I am ecstatic to celebrate his talent and creativity with you. Bradley’s taste and originality shines through all of space, and it’s my honor to wear his genius. Sara Foster, presenting Powerhouse Brand of the Year to Gwyneth Paltrow, G. Label by goop
“Gwyneth is our North Star. She is someone who paves the way in every lane and wants no credit for it. None. Try complimenting her and trust me, it won’t go over well. She doesn’t want to talk about herself. She wants to talk about you and how she can be of service or help amplify whatever it is you are doing. But all that must happen before 6 p.m. because she goes to bed at, like, 7:45, which is probably why she looks so good. She has managed to build a billion-dollar business while also being a good friend, the most hands-on mother, a loving wife, and most importantly, a woman of integrity who under no circumstances compromises that.”
Gwyneth Paltrow, accepting Powerhouse Brand of the Year, G. Label by goop
“Thank you so much for this. This is lovely and very meaningful. We started G. Label in 2016 with the idea of creating really wearable, comfortable, chic, trend-proof clothes for women who work and have kids and run around and want to be comfortable and confident. That was the inception of it and we’ve been quietly building this business. It’s just amazing that anybody really noticed.”

Elle Fanning, presenting Magazine of the Year to W editor-in-chief Sara Moonves
“A few years ago I was asked to appear in the annual W magazine Best Performances Portfolio. Sara Moonves was styling and Juergen Teller was photographing. Little did I know that I would be the one to pose in a tanning bed in a mini-mall on the Sunset Strip! But that is precisely why I love W. The magazine is always beautiful and strange, striking and utterly unique. When I work with W, whether I’m being shot by Tim Walker, Mario Sorrenti, or Juergen, I know that the photo will be special. W is always aiming for the moment that will stand the test of time. And the person behind that creative ambition is the great Sara Moonves. I first met Sara when I was 15 years old, when she styled my Teen Vogue cover. We were on a beach in Malibu, and I remember thinking she was the chicest, coolest woman I had ever met. With a clear and innovative vision, Sara has expanded W’s footprint through a forward-thinking approach centered around elevating the next generation of talent in art, entertainment, fashion, media, and pop culture.”
Sara Moonves, accepting Magazine of the Year, W
“When I was growing up, my walls were plastered from floor to ceiling with magazine clippings. There were, of course, Vogue covers and Tom Ford Gucci ads, but then there was W. Gwyneth Paltrow pregnant, photographed by Michael Thompson; Winona Ryder wearing a “Free Winona” T-shirt; and supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss transformed into timeless icons by the incredible editors and fashion directors that came before me. I’ve loved magazines my whole life. I devoured them and read them cover to cover like a novel. I made my own magazine instead of writing an essay to get into college. I’ve worked in magazines since I was an intern at the L.A. office of Vogue when I was 14 years old. When I got the phone call asking if I wanted to be editor of W, it felt completely surreal and, to be honest, almost four years later, it still does. Being the editor of W is literally a dream come true. What’s great about W is the range of what is possible. We get to work with the best photographers in the world, the best talent in the world, and people will do things with W that they won’t do with anyone else, and that’s the greatest thing about it. I get to be the conductor of that orchestra I dreamt about as a kid.”
Matt Bomer, presenting Men’s Stylist of the Year to Warren Alfie Baker
“I’m so thrilled to be here tonight to celebrate…Mr. Warren Alfie Baker, whom I have the very good fortune of working with. A man whose calming presence and characteristic greeting of ’Allo, love’ can bring peace to the set of any photo shoot lucky enough to have him on board. We all have days when it’s hard to step onto a red carpet, or in front of the cameras, but Warren’s work is so brilliant that you can’t help but enjoy yourself a little bit more than you would in anyone else’s hands. It’s because he really sees the best and most authentic aspects in all his clients, and he knows how to present the best version of them to the world. Also, as someone who likes to eat dessert, I’m pretty convinced that Warren tells me I’m wearing a sample size even when I’m not. And frankly, I appreciate that and am happy to keep up that charade. I’m not gonna lie. Most importantly, Warren is a world-class human being. He’s kind, compassionate, wickedly funny, and his relationship with his wonderfully supportive husband, James—who he couldn’t do all of this without—is an inspiration to anyone lucky enough to know them.”
Warren Alfie Baker, accepting Men’s Stylist of the Year “I’m generally the kind of guy who tends to stay in the back and avoid this kind of thing. I let my work do the talk. To be recognized for something I love so much is just an honor. Thank you! I’ve got my husband, James, here, who I’ve been with for 20 years, so half my life. He’s my total rock. I love you so much. Your support and willingness to take those boxes to FedEx and pick up those last-minute tailoring pieces, I appreciate that!”

Keanu Reeves, presenting Fashion Visionary to Jeanne Yang
“Fashion is an ever-evolving present moment, while looking to the past and the future. It is an art form— crafted, designed, and lived. A visionary is someone who understands this. I first worked with Jeanne when she styled me for a photo shoot with the modern cutting-edge fashion and culture magazine Detour in 1992. Jeanne and I would reconnect on The Matrix premiere in 1999, where she styled me, and we would go on to work together for over 20 years to this day. Jeanne’s exceptional attention to detail, her creative insight, her passion for bringing together fashion and the character of her client in a magnificent way can be seen on the red carpet, in editorials, and press tours over two decades all over the world. She has influenced fashion and those in it and those outside of it, and it is my honor to introduce and celebrate her.”
Jeanne Yang, accepting Fashion Visionary
“One of the things I ask people in a challenge is that every day you could do just a three-to-five-minute favor. Do something to help somebody else that’s on their journey on the way up. Everybody’s here for a reason. I promise you by doing these small little favors you may not get a Visionary award, but it will definitely help you to focus on what’s important for you.”
presenting Rodarte, Designers of the Year Laura Mulleavy
“I’m so excited to present this award to Kate and Laura because they are beyond everyone I know the best celebrators of everything. They create and set the stage for all of us to drink and dance and party. Sometimes it’s after their shows, but sometimes it’s Christmas or a birthday or Halloween. To have this opportunity to look them in the eye in front of all of you to declare my undying love and support is a true honor.”
Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte, accepting Designers of the Year
“As children, when asked what we wanted to do when we grew up, we answered…to become fashion designers. It was so organic that to this day, we aren’t even sure if we knew what being a fashion designer was, and yet, we knew. Instinct was and is, from the get go, our guiding force as designers. We
have approached everything in a personal way and from the heart. We didn’t go to fashion school…instead, went to UC Berkeley to study art, film, and literature. We’ve stayed an independent company, allowing us to build Rodarte and to pursue storytelling and creative expression across many different platforms. We’re proud we were able to find a way to navigate the business and approach it from an outside perspective. And we’re inspired by those starting out doing the same—and continuing to push the status quo.”

Sara Moonves, presenting Breakthrough Style Star to Meghann Fahy
“It’s rare when you see someone on a TV show and you instantly know that they’re going to be a star. They usually have a combination of talent, beauty, and style, but they also need that extra-special something that’s so hard to pin down. Meghann Fahy has all of the above, in spades. I first met Meghann at a and Louis Vuitton dinner in January. Nicolas Ghesquière, the artistic director of Louis Vuitton, and I gushed over her charm and style, and after sitting next to her at dinner, I was obsessed and we became instant friends. She’s smart, fun, interested, kind, down-to-earth, and totally unaware of her stardom. Along with her stylist, Thomas Carter Phillips, Meghann has made incredible style choices that has the fashion world taking notice. We’re so excited to see what performance we will be captivated by next, and just as excited to see what she will be wearing on the red carpet. Great choice, Daily Front Row my pleasure to present my friend Meghann Fahy with the firstever Breakthrough Style Star award.”

Jen Atkin presenting Style Curator to Dani Michelle
“I’m so happy to be here tonight to honor my dear friend and sister in glam Dani Michelle. Her fresh and edgy point of view, combined with her classic timelessness and sophistication, is a true reflection of her dynamic approach to styling. Her impressive clientele includes Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Elsa Hosk, Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Maren Morris, Kristin Cavallari, and more. Kendall and Hailey wanted to share some thoughts about working with Dani. Kendall wrote, ’She is the most hardworking, dedicated, joyful person, with such a positive attitude and constant smile on her face! We are all so grateful to work alongside her! Dani always goes above and beyond to make sure things go right.’ Hailey said, ’Every client that Dani works with has their own individual style and expression that speaks to who they are, and to me that is a testament of Dani’s talent and ability to keep each person feeling individually unique.’ But what truly sets Dani apart is her heart. Her genuine love and care for her clients. Seeing them empowered empowers Dani, and it’s this authenticity that has made her a fashion powerhouse.”
Dani Michelle, accepting Style Curator
“To stand here tonight in this room is so unbelievably surreal for me because I never take the time to stop and realize what I have accomplished—how I have clients I could have only dreamed to work with; agents who honestly represent me, protect me; and assistants that are so kindhearted and so hardworking that makes me not just Dani Michelle, but a team that can take on anything. And we do a lot! One of my biggest accomplishments, though, is following my heart, letting the serendipitous find its way into my life, with the right people. My husband, Ian, you have kept me, me. You have made so much space in your heart for my late nights, exhausted self, busy mind, my ever-changing schedule, obscene amount of boxes and clothing, and have always emotionally and sometimes even physically carried me through it all.”
Logan Browning, presenting Makeup Artist of the Year to Tasha Reiko Brown
“I believe Tasha has created timeless work with her artistry. She’s the antithesis of what the temperature of our culture tends to be. She goes for this effortless and beautiful skin aesthetic. You’re incredible. My favorite part of working with Tasha is how much fun we have.… I feel your energy, Tasha.”
Tasha Reiko Brown, accepting Makeup Artist of the Year
“I’m so fully intertwined with my art, and to celebrate my art means that you see me. Thank you for seeing me today.… [Client]

Say bonjour to Weekend Max Mara’s iconic Pasticcino bag. The arm candy is continuing its world tour, now landing in France with a new twist inspired by the country. The Pasticcino Bag Hommage à la France pays tribute to the nation’s centuries-old heritage with its luxurious Guipure lace fabric—made by high-end specialist Master Dentellier André Laude—and its clasp reimagined in enamel ceramic. The Frenchinspired update is available in five pretty Macaron-esque hues—Citron, Rose, Graines de Courge, Cassis Violette, and Réglisse—which look good enough to eat. Fittingly, because the playful bring-it-anywhere Pasticcino clutch is named after the Italian word for small pastry.

Call it Succession-core, call it quiet luxury, call it “stealth wealth dressing,” whatever way you look at it, there’s no denying we’re all leaning toward elegant wardrobe staples that transcend trends and time. Enter G. Label by goop, which has the kind of elevated and chic essentials, from dresses to suiting and beyond, that we’d like to see hanging in our dream Roy family–esque walk-in closet— and they’re all Gwyneth Paltrow–approved, of course! We spoke with Shaun Kearney, chief design & merchandising officer at goop, to get the scoop.

When did you start at goop? Tell us what your role entails.
I started at goop in 2017 during the infancy stages of the business. I oversee everything from product development to design, buying and merchandising, supply chain, and all creative and content aspects of the goop business.
As you’re involved in so many aspects of the brand, how do you balance the various projects you’re working on, while remaining creative and innovative?
I’m a little bit of a unicorn in the sense that I function from both sides of my brain. For me, personally, it’s always about striking the right balance between art and commerce, knowing that any CPG [consumer packaged goods] business needs both to succeed. When I’m in a deep creative space or when I’m thinking about ideating a product or creative asset, I need to understand how this shows up for the customer.
What’s your usual morning like?
I cannot start my day without drinking many cups of Earl Grey tea. I know it’s cliché, considering I’m a Brit, but I cannot function without my tea dosage in the morning! I then check in on my weekly agenda that I usually write on a Sunday evening to plan for the week. I try to keep my mornings meeting-free until at least 10 a.m., so I can proactively respond to as many e-mails as possible from 7 to 10 a.m. I’m not the best morning person, so I try to stay out of everyone’s way! [Laughs] I’m definitely more of a night owl as that’s when my creative juices start flowing. Working at goop, we imagine you’re surrounded by best-in-class. What are some of your favorite products that get you through a busy day?
There are so many great products that we create under our own goop brand, as well as a curated mix of multibrand products we carry, which are aligned with our clean values and standards. I do love all the goop Beauty products that are part of “Gwyneth’s Dry Skin Kit”—including the Lift + Depuff Eye Masks, Fix and Restore Balm, and Clean Nourishing Lip Balm. But my favorite wellness-focused product is goop Kitchen—clean, simple, tasty, healthy food. The Brentwood Chinese Chicken Salad is my go-to order!
Back to you being a Brit! Tell us your backstory about coming to the United States. Was fashion always the goal?
I went to art school in the U.K., and always had the intention to eventually study architecture. I love structure and form, but that all morphed eventually into fashion. They are quite similar from a design perspective, but I came to appreciate the evolving, changing aspects of fashion and the impact style can have on a person’s life. I wouldn’t say fashion was always the goal, but during my early ’90s club-culture years, I was surrounded by so many incredible people with style, so I guess that eventually rubbed off on me.
What was your first job?
My first job was as a men’s performance outerwear designer for Nautica International. It was a highly technical position when it came to construction and raw-material testing. You’ve held so many positions in the industry since. How would you best summarize your career?
I would say that my early career started with only using the right part of my brain, and I’m happy that was the case. Over the years, I discovered that I had this untapped potential to use the other analytical side of my brain. In one of my previous companies, the leadership team participated in the Harrison assessment, which measures behavior, skills, and engagement. My results showed that I had the highest analytical brain out of all my colleagues; you should have seen their reaction. [Laughs]
What are some highlights of your time at goop?
I’ve loved watching the goop brand grow over the years. We’ve grown so much with integrity.
What have you learned from goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow?
I’ve learned so much from Gwyneth. She isn’t afraid to push the boundaries to move culture forward. We all need a little bit of Gwyneth in us.
What is she like as a colleague?
Gwyneth is a strong and curious leader, a friend, a therapist, and a visionary. She knows her brand so well; she is her brand.
What are some things you’re currently excited about for G. Label?
I love how our Dress Collection is evolving, and it really is so great for this time of year as people start to attend events and weddings during the summer season.
What’s G. Label’s ultimate mission in the fashion space?
I think of G. Label as closet therapy. We provide the customer with pieces that we know she can rely on for her everyday life. The mission is to be of service and a reliable resource for timeless pieces that you can wear and cherish forever.
What gap in the fashion industry does G. Label seek to fill?
A luxury product that is best-in-class and made directly in some of the best factories in Italy—without the middleman markup, so we can keep to direct-to-consumer prices. We have a unique monthly drop business model with a buy-now-wear-now approach—versus the traditional seasonal approach to fashion—and I think it’s more conducive to how people actually want to shop and dress. It works well for us.
If we came to visit you where you’re based in Malibu, where would you recommend we go to get the full experience?
When you enter Malibu on Pacific Coast Highway coming from L.A., you know you’re in Malibu. The lighting is magical, and the air becomes more crisp and just feels cleaner. The best part of Malibu is some of the hidden spots around Carbon Beach, or take a hike at the end of Westward Beach and witness hundreds of sea lions in their natural habitat. Broad Street Oyster Company is a must for amazing seafood. And for a fun evening, head to Nobu right on the ocean at sunset.
What are some things you’re most proud of in your career to date?
I’m proud of seeing the people I’ve coached and mentored over the years go on to do amazing things.

To celebrate our recent cover starring Brooks Nader and her sisters Mary Holland, Grace Ann, and Sarah Jane, The Daily Front Row and Schutz hosted a soirée for the Nader sisters and many of our nearest and dearest at our go-to eatery, Scarpetta in Manhattan.
Sports Illustrated superstar Nader, who had just celebrated her birthday in tandem with her “pinch-me moment” Fashion Week cover was also joined by her adorable parents, Holland and Breaux, who were in town from Louisiana to celebrate their girls. Schutz founder, Alexandre Birman, was also in NYC from Brazil to greet everyone, and gave a speech about how he had started the phenomenally popular footwear brand when he was just 18 years old.
Attendees sipped delicious sparkling rosé from heritage wine brand Mumm Napa and caught up while snapping photos at the step and repeat and perusing popular Schutz styles that were on display. The evening’s guest list brought together Tessa Brooks, Kylie Vonnahme, Natalie De’banco, Sophie Sumner, Charlotte Bickley, Karina Bik, Tiff Benson, Carrie Berk, Severine Keimig, Olivia Caputo, Sandra Shehab, Jessica Barta Lam, Grace and Hampton Story, Billy Haire, Melissa Reidhead, Bruce Dean, and The Daily’s Eddie Roche and Freya Drohan.

In sunny Los Angeles, The Daily Front Row team raised an Aperol spritz to 10 mustknow brands of the Italian Trade Commission’s Beauty Made In Italy program. Guests gathered to toast to the skincare and haircare lines over a delicious alfresco luncheon at Culina Ristorante at the Four Seasons.
Upon arrival, attendees met with founders or representatives from Coquillete, Ernesi 1978, GA.MA Italy Professional, Hair Company Professional, Kaaral, Olivella, Perlier, Physio Natura, Phytobios, and Spezierie Palazzo Vecchio to hear more about the respective brand stories and backgrounds. Guests spritzed fragrances, sampled lotions, and felt how lightweight hair tools were, while enjoying a momentary transport to Italy, thanks to the eatery’s lemon trees and pretty floral-laden terrace area.
Tastemakers then sat down to a suitably Italian three-course meal of caprese salads, risotto, salmon, and tiramisu. Meredith Kerekes, who spearheads
the initiative, welcomed those in attendance while explaining the Beauty Made in Italy program and how it spotlights the country’s innovative companies making waves in the industry.
Joining The Daily for the event were content creators, models, and tastemakers such as Marta Pozzan, Andrew Matarazzo, Olay Noel, Fernanda Ramirez, Diana Madison, Manasvi Mamgai, Madi Webb, Keke Lindgard, Charlie Matthews, Adelina Novak, Abla Sofy, Amanda Diaz, Christina Caradona, Kristine Najarian, Merle Ginsberg, TyAna White, and The Daily’s Eddie Roche, Freya Drohan, and Monica Forman.

Max Mara, along with mother-daughter duo Nicky Hilton Rothschild and Kathy Hilton and The Daily Front Row, recently hosted an alfresco luncheon to celebrate the luxury brand’s Spring ’23 Collection. The event began with courtyard cocktails, featuring a Chandon Garden Spritz cart and a customized pink Jolly car by Hamptons Jollys— a perfect fit for the backdrop of Palm Beach’s “Pink Paradise,” aka The Colony Hotel. Both the signature spritz and Jolly car reflected the inspiration for this season’s collection—Riviera style!
More than 50 tastemakers, including Amy Phelan, Andrea Wynn, Vera Serrano, Jared Seligman, Bettina Anderson, Courtney Davis, Veronica Webb, Evelyn Tracy, Guy Clark and Harrison Morgan, Hilary Geary Ross, Talbott
Maxey, J. Logan Horne, Kai Lassen, Max Mara’s Judgie Graham, and The Daily Palm Beach editor Lizzi Bickford Meadow, gathered for a Mediterranean-inspired luncheon and fashion presentation. Models showcased musthave Max Mara pieces, including highlights, such as backless tanks, canvas
sailor pants, wide-brimmed sun hats, and long skirts.
Guests raised their glasses to honor the special occasion, each filled with chilled RUMOR rosé or Emmolo sauvignon blanc and sparkling wine. Luncheon attendees also took home VIP gift bags filled with luxe items, including a Max Mara travel kit, Metabolism Protein Bars by Sakara Life, and Sun Drops by Dr. Barbara Sturm.
The festivities continued into the late afternoon, with guests taking a spin in the pink Jolly over to Max Mara’s light-filled Worth Avenue boutique. Palm Beach tastemakers, including Bridget Borman and Whitney Schott, were among the VIPs spotted exploring items including linen jumpsuits, airy sundresses, and oversize sunglasses that will instantly transport you from the shores of Palm Beach to Portofino.

ROCK STARS
The Daily Front Row invited a crowd of industry insiders, supermodels, designers, models, influencers, and NYC characters to join them at The Venue on Music Row, located within Hard Rock Hotel New York, for a fête to remember. Special guest of the evening was Tika the Iggy, our favorite “gay icon from Montréal,” who was resplendent in a custom-made lucky green outfit and accompanied by her second favorite dad, Tommy Shapiro. On the decks was TikTok’s fave, DJ Isaac Likes, who kept the crowd going until late.
Once attendees arrived and snapped their photos at the step and repeat, they headed to the bar for a well-deserved drink during the NYFW madness. Guests sipped on premium Mumm Napa Brut Prestige and Mumm Napa Brut Rosé. Additionally, people ordered the tongue-in-cheek “Fashionably Late” cocktail, aka an oldfashioned, and a delicious highball over ice with ginger ale and a lemon wedge made with Brother’s Bond Bourbon.
At the end of the night, guests took home copies of The Daily’s NYFW issue and goodies from Essie, including cuticle oil, nail treatments, and polishes from the brand’s Gel Couture Fashion Freedom collection, as well as vouchers to use at Hard Rock Hotel.

CONCEPT KOREA Brings Emerging Fashion Talents to NYFW
K-fashion is here! Concept Korea brought three outstanding designers from South Korea to NYC in February for a runway show at the Gallery at Spring Studios. The outing showcased designs by CAHIERS, BESFXXK, and ul:kin. Concept Korea, a global fashion program hosted by the country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency, launched in 2010 and has given the designers the opportunity to show on a global stage outside of Korea.
The show started with CAHIERS, which translates to “memo pad” or “work note” in French; it also means “idea book.” According to show notes, these translations signify designer Kim A-Young’s passions. The looks were inspired by Korean student uniforms as symbols of youth. Think: preppy staples like plaid skirts, duffel coats, ties, and tailored jackets. The looks were then reinterpreted with the brand’s signature feminine touch.
ChicLOOKS
Next up was a collection by ul:kin, with designer Lee Seong Dong showing an edgy unisex collection. The designer has made sustainability a focus in his collection through upcycling. This season’s concept, The Blind Spot of Safe Space, sought to reinvent the classics with a modern spin.
Royal College of Arts in London and London College of Fashion alumni
Jae Hyuk Lim and Bona Kim of BESFXXK showed the most avantgarde looks of the trio showing. The brand launched in 2017 and takes a surgical approach to design and product development, with techniques involving physically combining separate pieces with different backgrounds and histories.

Sag Harbor’s Sage and Madison continues to put the historic seaside town on the map as a fashion lover’s dream destination. Proprietor Chris Coffee is building on the last few successful seasons since opening his boutique hotel–meets–curated store by adding a lineup of pop-ups that reads like a major international Fashion Week schedule. We called him while he had a minute of downtime before it gets all go, go, go again. Here’s what he’s got up his sleeve!
How are you feeling ahead of the summer 2023 season?
We’re confident and feeling great about all our exciting products, imported and local goods, and fabulous activations planned. We have so much lined up to make Sage and Madison the luxury retail and brand destination. We can’t wait to welcome all Sag Harbor locals and visitors alike to experience our offerings.
What have you been doing recently to mentally prepare for the busy time ahead?
As Sage and Madison is open the majority of the year, we pride ourselves in preparing for the busy season by researching and finding artisans locally and abroad, bringing their craft to this quaint town. In terms of time spent away from the business, I had the opportunity to attend the Sambodromo in Rio, where Brazilian eats, materials, and colors inspired my new product selections for the upcoming season. I can’t wait for everyone to see!
Tell us about what new private-label products you’ve been working on?
We curated a Sage and Madison textile collection that includes tabletop, blankets, and accessories with a fresh aesthetic. In addition, we’ve sourced a private label collection of women’s jewelry, capturing the everyday look Sag Harbor represents.
What can we expect from the new Sage and Madison beer?
Inspired by our customer-favorite jam, Sage and Madison Blackberry Thyme, our new sour beer was brewed with Hamptons gardens in mind. The blackberry adds a pink flare of summer fun, and the thyme gives a savory finish in each sip. Teaming up with local Kidd Squid Brewing Co has been a lot of fun, and we have lots more planned this summer with them, including a sour cocktail, which you’ll be able to find at Craft + Carry locations soon.
You have a range of pop-ups planned. What can you tease?
We have created a beautiful showcase for our highly sought-after and curated brands. Our brand partnerships this summer will be ones to remember! We will be launching with Jean Paul Gaultier, which is so exciting, and continuing on with favorites like Jil Sander, Marni, and Libertine. There’s something for everyone; we made sure of that. We’re also excited to welcome back Cameron Silver of Decades in Los Angeles, and his beautiful assortment of vintage and sustainable brands.
How did the Jean Paul Gaultier pop-up, the brand’s Hamptons debut, come about?
Sag Harbor Village is the cultural epicenter of the Hamptons. Brands prefer intimate showings where the client can truly share in the designer’s vision. Sage and Madison offers that intimate atmosphere, magically transporting you through time with its charming and warm atmosphere. Cameron has worked with the Gaultier brand in various capacities, and we decided it would be a great fit for Sage and Madison. We’re honored to have them join us!
What other events do you have on the calendar that you’re excited about?
We’re closing on some great booking signings with TV personalities and celebrity chefs, too.
Is there any news on the hotel side?
With our high-quality upkeep of our carefully designed unique rooms, which make you feel like a Hamptons local staying in your private home, this year we’re introducing a Sage and Madison personal care line. A few items in the line include a French-milled custom

soap, and hair and body products that leave your hair and skin feeling enriched. We hear you have a new Sage and Madison mobile coffee truck. Where can we find it?
Yes! We’re so excited about this. You will be able to catch our coffee truck at local gatherings and supporting charities, as well as at events like the Hampton Classic Horse Show. You can also reserve it for your parties, weddings, and birthdays via our website. Tell us about the yacht collaboration you’ve been working on. We’ve teamed up with a classic sailboat that aligns with our lifestyle brand, Sage and Madison Living. This boat has raced against some of the finest classic yachts in the Mediterranean, and has come home to take her place as the crown jewel of the
Hamptons fleet. You can book the experience on our website, sageandmadison.com. What’s your favorite thing about Sag Harbor in the summertime, and what’s your favorite thing about your work?
My favorite thing about Sag Harbor is the happiness it brings to people. From its ideal location near beaches and yachts and its close proximity to leading arts and cultural institutions, it’s a picturesque town where people walk around happy. My favorite thing about the work I do is preserving a piece of Sag Harbor history, while allowing it to be a place for everyone to immerse themselves in when it comes to design, culture, and fashion.

Délicieux DAOU!
Every bottle of DAOU is brimming with not just unrivaled quality wine, but the incredible story of brothers Georges Daou and Daniel Daou, which unfolds across three continents. In their native Lebanon, the duo learned the importance of love, family, and emotional intelligence. In France, where they sought refuge with their parents, they gained a sense of joie de vivre and discovered a passion for wine. Their quest for the perfect terroir led them to what’s now known as DAOU Mountain in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles in the U.S. Here, they blended it all together with luxury, technology, and innovation. Georges Daou, co-proprietor of DAOU Family Estates, fills us in on their backstory.
Who’s older? Daniel or you? What’s it like working together?
I am older, but we’re very much equals—we are inseparable as brothers, best friends, and visionaries. Daniel and I share a deep bond after going through an incredibly difficult experience in our childhood. In 1973, the first rocket launched in the Lebanese Civil War hit our home. I was 12 at the time, and Daniel was 8. We were seriously injured and were hit with shrapnel that we still carry to this day, but the experience bonded us in a way that is almost indescribable. It’s a deep trauma bond, but also a bond of incredible resilience that has shaped our journey ever since. We are two halves of one whole; our skills and talents are complementary to each other. When we were younger, working together was a bit more challenging, but we took the egos away and realized that we’re much stronger together. The war in Beirut prompted your family to flee to France. Is this where the passion for the world of wine began?
Our time in France was inspirational. Growing up there and enjoying wine at the family table, we had some of our most profound conversations. My father loved wine, and it was always part of our family life. These moments ultimately inspired us to take the big gamble and acquire a historic property in the Adelaida district of Paso Robles in California that would soon emerge as DAOU Mountain. How did you both first learn about Paso Robles, and what was the journey like coming to America? I got my first start when I was in graduate school at 24 years old. My parents took me up on my offer to move them to the U.S. for a better life. They had $100,000 saved, and I asked them to give me $50,000 to build a company. That’s all they had left. I felt the pressure to create a business that would drive value for consumers, while also supporting my family. We spent eight years looking at vineyards all over the world. We considered Argentina because I was a polo player. We considered going back
to France. We also considered Sonoma and Napa Valley, then we stumbled upon Paso Robles. We could not believe the rich terroir we found in what has now become DAOU Mountain. We decided to stay in California and create our paradise there. And the rest, as they say, is history. What made it an easy decision to launch DAOU in the region?
It wasn’t an easy decision at all. It would have been more obvious to choose Napa Valley, where they had been making high-end cabernets for 40 years, but for us Napa didn’t work due to the terroir. We were looking for a world-class terroir with the calcareous clay soils of Bordeaux, and they didn’t have that in Napa. We found what we wanted in the Adelaida district in the western mountains of Paso Robles, a relatively unknown region that was focused at the time on Rhône varietals. We realized we could build our vision for DAOU and for the Paso Robles brand as a world-class region for cabernet sauvignon and other bordeaux varieties. With this in mind, we founded the Paso Robles CAB Collective, a collective effort with other local wineries to elevate the quality of bordeaux varietals in our region. From the outset, we recognized the huge potential of Paso Robles and the opportunity to evoke emotion and connection with wine lovers. We took a chance and are very happy we did!
In your eyes, what makes DAOU unique?
DAOU is a multicultural family winery, rooted in profound values and the passion of not just unlocking the earth’s potential, but of placing consumer joy first. It’s at the heart of everything we do.
Is there one particular DAOU offering that you’re enjoying the most at the moment?
The 2020 Soul of a Lion was just released as a special 10th-anniversary edition. This wine represents the journey that first brought our family to DAOU Mountain. It’s named after our father, who endowed us with the passion, courage, and perseverance to pursue our dreams, qualities that we honor each year with this exceptional wine. Soul of a Lion changed the course of the Paso Robles wine region in every way— our vision for the terroir, the way we plant our vineyards, our winemaking, and our deep connection with the consumer. It’s one of the highest-rated wines, proving for all times that the Adelaida District of Paso Robles is truly the new frontier for worldclass cabernet sauvignon and bordeaux varietals.
We know you love fashion and wine. In what ways do you feel DAOU is connecting with likeminded consumers?
We created DAOU wines from our heart. We build our wine collections each season with the same artistry, discipline, and meticulous attention to detail as a fashion house. An Eye for Style
ChicESTATES DAILYFRONTROW.COM
All real estate pros know that the devil is in the detail, but thanks to her background in the arts and interior design, Brown Harris Stevens real estate agent Liz Callahan is able to go the extra mile when it comes to advising her clients in Palm Beach. Her keen sense of style and appreciation of aesthetics not only extends into her wardrobe, but into her beautiful life as a mother of two who loves to soak up the best of what the picturesque surroundings of PB have to offer.
What are you most excited about for summer 2023?
This summer I will be living between Bridgehampton and Palm Beach. My husband and I got married during the pandemic and will finally be going on our honeymoon this August. We’re counting down the days!
Where did you grow up, and how did you get started in your professional career?
I was born and raised in New Hampshire. My mother is from Palm Beach, and we spent a lot of time here growing up. My parents retired here several years ago. I came to visit them, met my husband, bought a house, and never looked back. When the opportunity arose to work in real estate, I knew immediately it was a perfect fit for me. I absolutely love working with people, and living in this special part of Florida.
You also attended interior design school. Tell us a little about that, and how it accentuates your career now.
My background is in the arts. I attended the Interior Designers Institute in California. That background, along with years of tracking real estate, armed me with the tools to identify the highest-quality product for my clients and identify properties with enormous potential. To me, layout and functionality is key. I focus a lot on the floor plan and how my clients will live in the home. Having an agent with an eye for design is invaluable to clients in a luxury market.
Speaking of style, what type of pieces do you lean toward, both interiors-wise and through your personal style?
I love strong colors, and I’m not afraid to splash them throughout my home, my wardrobe, and anywhere in my life. I always start with the classic backdrop of blue and white. What better color combination is there? I love mixing shades of blue—the brighter, the better. My design inspirations are Charlotte Moss and Aerin Lauder, with a splash of Celerie Kemble. My personal style also comes a lot from the influential people in my life, such as my mother. She is strong, fearless, and I’m always learning from her. What does an average day look like for you?
I have two kids under age 2, thus my days can be pretty unpredictable! I wake up early and take the girls out to stroll the Intracoastal with me. After a morning of tennis at the club, I spend the rest of the day in my office or out searching for beautiful homes with my clients. I often have lunch at SurfSide Diner. In the evenings, if I’m not at dinner with clients or at home with the children, it’s date night with my husband at Trevini, and strolling
EASY LIVING

to Sprinkles afterward for a sugar fix. What’s your favorite thing about living in Palm Beach?
The perfect weather and being able to spend time outdoors year-round. Any hot spots we can usually find you at?
I love dinners at Le Bilboquet and Sant Ambroeus.
Tell us about this WPB property you’re excited about! What do we need to know?
This house is a beautiful new construction by a renowned local builder in the most sought-after neighborhood in West Palm Beach, and for less than $5 million! It’s steps from the Intracoastal Waterway, minutes to Palm Beach Island, and by far the best value on the market. It’s an incredible opportunity for a buyer to customize finishes to their preference and take advantage of pre-construction pricing. Are there any new factors making Palm Beach and West Palm Beach a desirable area to settle in for young families?
The quality of life is unmatched. The amount of time you’re able to spend outdoors living in Florida is so special for kids and parents. I also value the level of safety and security I feel living here. You have all the comforts of a small town with the excitement of a big city! What are some positive differences you’ve seen in the area since the pandemic?
One of the biggest differences has been the number of young people moving here. That’s something we had never seen before in Palm Beach. Along with the migration of young people, there has been the huge influx of great restaurants, shops, and businesses. It’s an exciting place to live and be a part of!
Your other passion is tennis. Tell us more!
I’m a total tennis junkie! I played in high school and have gotten back into it since moving to Florida. The women’s team I play on took home the Division 1 title this season!
What’s something else we’d be surprised to learn about you?
I’m a member of the Screen Actors Guild!
Where else can we usually find you in Palm Beach?
When I’m not working, you can find me in a HIIT class at 1 Fitness, picking up a green juice at Celis, or at the beach with my kids.
What’s your biggest dream?
Being a wife and mother while also having a successful and rewarding career in one of the most special places on Earth. I’m living my dream!

REAL ESTATE REPORT
DAILYFRONTROW.COM ChicESTATES
SOLD! Located on a private stretch of Georgica Beach, 51 West End Road in East Hampton’s last asking was $39.5 million for its five bedrooms and oceanside pool and yard on 1.5 acres.
TRADITIONAL
How are you feeling ahead of the season?
We’re thrilled to have had an exciting start to 2023!
We began our year closing the second highest on market transaction of Quarter 1 2023, which went to contract in fall 2022.
What’s new?
We currently have several exciting homes available, including two absolute stunning properties in Amagansett. One being 10 St. Mary’s Lane, which
is a stunning resort-style compound with eight bedrooms on 1.2 acres of land, located one block from the ocean. The other breathtaking property is the “Seasmoke” estate, an oceanfront masterpiece offering six bedrooms, on 2.4 acres with the most magnificent views. It also essentially has its own private beach!
How is the market Out East right now?
The real estate environment in the Hamptons has shifted to a more healthy pace. There are still a lot of transactions and buyers in the market, but correct pricing is absolutely everything in this climate.
Is there a difference in what prospective buyers are looking for now, versus 2020–2022?
People are looking for the cream of the crop! Buyers looking for top properly priced properties are becoming much more discerning, and a lot of cash deals are occurring because financing has changed dramatically recently.
What about rentals? What’s proving most desirable so far this year?
High-level properties located south of Montauk Highway are most desirable, although there is low inventory, especially those with tennis.
Tell us more about why you’re excited about Montauk. Montauk has an incredible array of culinary and hospitality developments happening, and it’s truly exciting to see it all unfold. Montauk is so special; it’s exciting to be a part of the development.
We know you had a major sale in Montauk recently, too. After selling our exclusive at 14 Maple Street in Montauk last fall for a record $14 million, we’re excited to be heavily involved in the ever-evolving market at The End.
What’s next for those looking closely at Montauk?
We have a couple of fabulous new construction projects that will be completed by the end of the summer. We’ll fill you in with some more details on that as the summer progresses, so watch this space! Are there any new Hamptons openings you’re looking forward to checking out this season?
I’m excited about Mavericks in Montauk, which just opened. It’s an incredible new steak and fish house with stunning views over the pond. This spot has been highly anticipated, and its chef Jeremy Blutstein is immensely talented!

Thanks for being at our recent Fashion Los Angeles Awards! What did you think of the event?
It was so cool! It was such a special room of people, and I loved how heartfelt everybody’s speeches were. It was a beautiful space for these people to be acknowledged in this way. I thought it was so nice, and I was so grateful to be a part of it. It meant a lot to me.
That makes us so happy to hear! You mentioned in your speech something about owning skate shoes growing up, but that you didn’t skateboard. Can you tell us more about that?
I was deeply obsessed with Avril Lavigne. I wanted to be her in every way that I could be, so I wore skate shoes, but I could never really master the skateboarding part. I did try it once, but I’m pretty accident-prone, so I think I figured I’ll just wear the shoes and be a total poser instead!
You also mentioned that fashion hasn’t come easy for you. What are some of the biggest challenges for you?
The truth is when I think about it is that I’ve never been the kind of person who can go into a vintage store and go through racks of clothing and pick out something cool. I’m the kind of person who sees something on a mannequin and I’ll be like, “I’ll buy that whole thing because at least I know it works.” I never fancied myself creative enough to feel like I was fashionable. That’s evolved for me in a huge way over the past year. Especially in large part because of my amazing stylist, Thomas Carter Phillips. How did you start working with Thomas, and tell us about your relationship!
He was recommended to me by my also incredible publicist [Lauren Gold]. We had a Zoom meeting, and I immediately knew he was the right guy for me. He totally understood where I was coming from. Thomas told me that if I only wanted to wear one color all the time that people do that. There are no rules. It’s about whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident. I feel like he gave me that permission for the first time. He’s made this whole process so easy, and I always feel like myself when I’m doing various events. I’m so grateful to him. He’s a smarty-pants.
I’m lucky to have him.
What does he know you would never wear?
Stilettos! It’s my one hard rule. I just can’t do it. It’s a bummer for him because he has to navigate that in a way he might choose not to. It’s the only rule I have. Even that was empowering for me to say to myself that I don’t do this.
I can’t do stilettos either!
They’re so pretty. I wish I could. I’m not Sarah Jessica Parker, and I never will be.
Do you have a favorite look over the past year that you’ve worn?
I think the SAG Awards moment [wearing Ralph Lauren] was a special one that I’ll always remember. I felt like the Queen in that dress. It was the first time I’ve ever worn something completely white, which I didn’t think I could do because I’m so pale.
Thomas pushed me outside my comfort zone and it paid off.
You were in Next to Normal on Broadway. Will we see more stage work in your future?
I hope so. I do love theater, and I miss it. I don’t have any solid plans right now, but I’m definitely hoping to get back to the stage at some point.
We saw you sing on the Matt Rogers Christmas special on Showtime last year. You have such a beautiful voice. Would you ever consider recording an album at some point?
I grew up singing and never planned to be an actor. I ended up getting into acting by singing via Next to Normal. It’s definitely my first love. Music is a big part of my life. It’s something I’m open to, and I’m thinking about musical ventures.
You were on One Life to Live, then The Bold Type, and then The White Lotus, which was this crazy cultural phenomenon. Are you happy that this success has happened gradually for you?
I feel grateful for the journey to this point. Looking back, there were so many times when I was not working—and for long periods of time, as well. That can be hard and scary and stressful. You have to find ways to make money. I was a nanny; I worked in restaurants in New York. The White Lotus has been such an amazing experience. I’ve never been a part of something that has been as much of a cultural phenomenon as this show is. If I had been younger or hadn’t been through everything I’ve been through, I’m not sure how I would have handled it. It’s hard to navigate, so I’m grateful that everything has unfolded for me in a way that feels natural and at the right time. I trust the process.
You’re currently shooting a Netflix series, The Perfect Couple, with Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber. You probably can’t say much about it, but can you tell us anything?
It’s been great. It shoots in Cape Cod, and I grew up going there every summer. I’m originally from Massachusetts, so it’s special to be working there and being close to my family and being in a place that feels so homey and familiar to me. This is another great cast of actors. It’s a fun show. It’s sexy and mysterious. I’m excited about it.
What were your summers like growing up?
I have a huge family, with many uncles, aunts, and cousins who feel like nieces and nephews. I’m the oldest, and they’re much younger than I am. My summer memories are going to Cape Cod with the family and renting a big house and going to the beach in the day and having dance parties on the deck at night…and grilling. We’re doing it again this year in July. I can’t wait for that!
