DREAM!
How were you feeling on the day? The show was stunning with so many icons, legends, and amazing, powerful women. I was nervous because it was my first show, but everyone was so nice.
Are you an L.A. girl for life? I’d like to experience something different, so I’m looking at schools on the East Coast. But I have a feeling I’ll come back here.
IN THE CHAIR! WITH
CHRIS APPLETON We caught up with the “mane man” behind the best hair moments of Kim Kardashian-West and J. Lo.
How did you go from hair to modeling? I don’t know how it all happened! I was doing hair, then I realized people also wanted to see more from me, so I posted a picture of myself. As I started to open up and show more, the modeling thing came in.
What hair trends are we going to see in 2021? Everyone is into this relaxed, natural kind of vibe, with a lot of layers and undone textures. A lot of people are also doing the curtain bangs just because it’s flattering on the face.
If you weren’t doing hair, what would you be doing? I think I’d probably be an actor!
Model idol?
What advice would you give to someone facing adversity?
Karlie Kloss. The way she uses her platform, putting an emphasis on women in science and using it for good, that’s what you should do if you’re lucky to have a platform.
Stay authentic to who you are and that will carry you through.

Newly engaged mogul PARIS HILTON was transformed into a modern-day 1950s “swan” for the Lanvin Spring/Summer ’21 campaign. Between her Scarface-style bob, lit-fromwithin makeup, and the chic wares on display, she proves with aplomb why she’s the OG influencer. That’s hot!

Any funny backstage moments at Moschino?
Not since Tom Ford’s banned ad campaigns has there been so much delicious FRAN LEBOWITZ Gucci drama. The OR TOM FORD?? upcoming House of ANSWER BELOW Gucci biopic stars Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci and Lady Gaga as ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani, who infamously hired a hitman to kill him in 1995. The star-studded cast also includes Jared Leto, Al Pacino, and Jeremy Irons. You can track the film’s scintillating costumes at @thehouseofgucci on Instagram.
SOCIETY SWAN!
Up-and-coming IMG model OLIVIA PETERSEN was the only new face to walk in the Moschino show. I’m a senior in high school, and I’m really into science and math right now. I’ve been getting scouted since I was 8 years old, but my parents didn’t want me to model until I turned 17.
“How would I describe my lifestyle? Well, I can assure you, I would never use the word lifestyle.”

STYLE
Max Mara, the brand known for its iconic outerwear and timeless ready-to-wear, recently celebrated the arrival of its Spring/Summer 2021 collection into its airy Palm Beach boutique, with a little help from The Daily.
During the event, Max Mara’s expert team of stylists worked with each guest to provide her with one-on-one guidance in a relaxed and elevated environment. Notable attendees included Palm Beach style savants, such as Kristin Pisarcik-Urrutia, Stacey Leuliette, and Paula Valente Bickford, who swooned over must-have items while sipping Whispering Angel rosé. A portion of sales from the event benefited Center for Family Services of Palm Beach County, a long-established nonprofit organization providing child-development and family-preservation services.

The event was co-hosted by The Daily Palm Beach editor in chief Lizzi Bickford Meadow and polo player Rebekah Greenhill, who looked resplendent in an elegant white Max Mara pantsuit. The tastemakers were joined in style by notable local guests, who were treated to a VIP experience while discovering the latest fashion-forward pieces, both in buzzy and bright colors and classic neutrals. A curated selection of editor-selected picks for the season was also on prime display for those in attendance to peruse and seek inspiration from.

SOUTHERN
LIVING
MR. AND MRS. The couple on the town in New York City.
TOMMY HILFIGER and DEE OCLEPPO HILFIGER are among the many who are setting up life in Southern Florida. Over a Zoom call, the couple tell THE DAILY what they love most about Palm Beach, where you’re likely to find them, and whether they’re still checking on those frigid New York weather forecasts!
What do you love about Palm Beach? Tommy Hilfiger: It’s the lifestyle! The weather! We love being near the water, palm trees. It’s very serene. There’s not a lot of traffic, beautiful landscaping, water on both sides. There’s great shopping, great restaurants, sports activities—it’s like the ultimate of what one would want! Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger: At our age! It’s calm and really beautiful. It’s like living in a small village. It’s less dense than Miami. We’ve been going back and forth to Miami. It’s just peaceful. It feels European, and I missed that because I spent most of my adult life in Europe. I love that! It’s easy to love! Do you remember your first time coming to the Palm Beach area? Dee: My parents always had a place in Boca Raton, so I used to go to Palm Beach when I was young. I actually dated someone from here, so I was familiar with it. I was in my early twenties when I first started coming. Tommy: I came probably 20 years ago, but just drove through. We were here looking at mall locations. I heard about Worth Avenue. Shopping Worth was exciting because of all the small shops you don’t see in malls. The beauty of the landscaping and the homes mesmerized me. I had a dream of living here at some point in time. How do you dress when you’re in Palm Beach? Dee: Right now, it’s pretty much the same. We’re in lockdown mode. I have sweats on. I dress in more summer dresses. Coats and sweaters are put away. Tommy: I’m going out to lunch at the yacht club, so I’m dressed up today. We don’t have any winter clothing here. I would say the majority of our wardrobe is in storage right now. I don’t even know what we’ll

PALM BEACH LIFE The area was attractive to the Hilfigers for its scenic beaches and old-world charm.
do with it. We’ll be spending most of our time here. It’s nice to not worry about the weather and wear lightweight summery clothes all the time. Palm Beach has specific colors that belong only there! Dee: Like pink and green!? Exactly! What are the colors that remind you of the area? [Tommy gets up to show green and white drapery] Tommy: Like this drapery? [Laughs] Lilly Pulitzer pink and green! We were just watching people play tennis on a grass court and they were all in tennis whites! It looks like you are going back in time. I’m seeing a lot more young people here. Years ago, you would never see anyone dressed in black. Now, you are seeing a mix of people who might be wearing fashion that’s a bit more international. You do see brighter colors and prints. You see a lot of beachwear. Dee: Turquoise! How do you approach design in Florida compared to Connecticut? Dee: It’s completely different! Tommy: We’re embarking upon designing a home we bought, which will take about a year and a half. The process is interesting because it’s definitely going to be different than our home in Connecticut and different than our home in Miami.
Dee: The process is the same, but the choices are different. You want to keep things light and tropical. Tommy: Indigenous to the area. Dee: It’s bright, light, and happy! We’re using Slim Aarons as an inspiration. Palm Beach is a town that holds on to its heritage. As Tommy said about the people dressed in all white, that scene could have been from 50 or 60 years ago. It’s fun to be in a town that’s… Tommy: Real-world old heritage. Men still wear jackets to dinner. Who are some of your favorite local artists who’ve inspired you for the house? Tommy: I don’t know if it’s any one artist, but you could look at David Hockney to get a vibe of colorful tropical life. Dee was saying one of her favorites was Gauguin. It’s also a blank canvas for us to now do something that is different than anything we’ve done in the past. Is there any book about Palm Beach that you love? Dee: Hundreds! I have every single one of them! Tommy: There’s a fairly new Assouline book about Palm Beach that’s interesting. There’s also Palm Beach Splendor: The Architecture of Jeffery W. Smith. We have a lot of books on architecture and some of the old homes designed by Addison Mizner and Maurice Fatio. Dee: That’s another quality I love about Palm Beach. It’s rich in history, and a lot of these homes have been here for ages. I think there’s a close connection between Palm Beach and its history. My son is going on a school trip today called The Little Red Schoolhouse, and he has to dress in 1800s clothing and he can’t put his food in plastic. It has to all be authentic. They have to bring fruits like oranges that were indigenous of what people would be eating. He’s learning that. There’s a close tie to the past and that old-school charm. What are your favorite restaurants in the area? Tommy: A lot of New York restaurants—we like Sant Ambroeus, Le Bilboquet, and La Goulue. They’re all packed every night. Palm Beach Grill is excellent, too. How’d you entertain yourselves during non-COVID times? Tommy: Dinners more than anything else. We went out on a friend’s boat two weeks ago, which was fun. We love the beach! Dee: Tennis! Tommy: We haven’t really indulged in golf. Dee: Not yet. Tommy: It’s pretty time-consuming. We’re busy all the time. We’re busy with work and Zooming. It’s not like all of a sudden we have all this free time. Dee: It’s odd to see people playing golf here because we’re on Zooms all day. They’re obviously retired. Anyone who isn’t retired doesn’t have time to spend half the day on the golf course. We’re not there yet. Maybe in a couple of decades we’ll be there. Tommy: We stayed at The Breakers for a while and you see people going on and off the golf course and you think, “Where do these people have all this time?” Eventually we’ll maybe have more time, but not now! Dee: I somehow doubt that. You know Tommy! Tommy: I’m a little afraid of boredom! What are your eating habits like? Tommy: We could be healthier! I think that’s just a COVID hangover. After we get settled, we’ll get back into a routine of being healthier. We do take great walks on the beach in the morning, and there’s a pathway around the lake. I did a little biking last week. Dee: We’re on the COVID diet where we look at our clock and it’s 4 p.m. Is it martini time yet? Do you have a favorite street? Dee: Worth Avenue!
Tommy: South Ocean is great! Being near the lake is beautiful. The houses on South County are beautiful.
Dee: There’s a lake trail that’s wonderful that you can walk. There’s a lot of dogs here! Tommy: Dee recently said it seems like everyone has white dogs! Dee: There’s more dogs than people here. I swear! I’ve never seen more dogs in my life! What’s your ideal Palm Beach temperature? Tommy: 80 degrees. Dee likes it warmer. Dee: I was going to say 78! This is reminding me of The Newlywed Game ! Do you check the temperature in NYC while you’re there? Tommy: All the time! Dee: First thing in the morning! What do you miss about New York when you’re there? Tommy: We’re not missing New York right now. Maybe at some point in time we’ll miss it when things get back to normal. The last time we were there was cold and rainy. It was depressing. Dee: And closed! I miss my friends. Tommy: New York is New York, so we’ll always have a love for it. What’re you feeling optimistic about in the coming months? Tommy: The vaccine to go widespread and the roaring twenties to come back, where people are out and enjoying themselves, going to parties, dressing. Obviously buying new clothes wouldn’t be a bad thing for the people in the fashion business. I think people are anxious to get out of their sweats, get dressed up, mingle with their friends, and maybe celebrate. Dee: One of my girlfriends here is Iris Apfel, who is 99. She hasn’t left her apartment in over a year. She has not gone out for a walk. Nothing. I almost have a bit of anxiety about going out again and seeing large groups of people. Even dressing. It seems like so long ago. It has been a year since we were doing that. I think I’m going to have to pace myself to reenter that. I’ve gotten so accustomed to T-shirts and sweats and my life that I’ve been living now. I’ll have to acclimate into that. Anything you want to add about Palm Beach? Tommy: It’s definitely getting younger! Our fear in the beginning was that maybe it was too old for us, but we see there’s a liveliness and a youthfulness bubbling up. Dee: There’s a lot of New York that has come to Palm Beach. Everything is down here. You feel like you’re in New York!

NATALIE BETTERIDGE is part of a family of fifth-generation jewelers from the world-renowned Betteridge located in Palm Beach, Greenwich, Vail, and Aspen. Known for her exquisite taste, this mother of two is joining THE DAILY as a contributing editor to share her passion for jewelry. First, let’s get to know her a little better! Name: Natalie Rose Betteridge Location, Location, Location: Greenwich, CT Spouse: Win Betteridge Instagram Handle: @jewelsdujour Define your style: Classic, sophisticated casual but usually with a fun flourish. How would your best friend describe you? “Intelligent, sophisticated, comforting, and fun!” So says my twin sister and best friend, Marie. Style inspirations: Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Babe Paley, Slim Keith, and Gloria Guinness. Wardrobe staples: A pair of dark jeans, a crisp white button-down blouse, Chanel tweed skirt, linen…all summer long, ballet flats, and stylish sneakers. I’m currently loving On Cloud. How much jewelry do you own? Never enough, but plenty for now! What is your most cherished piece of jewelry? Two pieces, one is a pendant that was made for me by David Michael, talented twin jewelers based in Australia. They painted my son’s eye onto a piece of mother-of-pearl, then set it behind an antique watch crystal, and added a beautiful diamond halo in darkened gold. My other cherished piece is a pair of
sapphire hoops set in gold and copper, by Hemmerle. FASHION COUP
Most designers had to show their Fall 2021 collections digitally this past season, which made standing out harder than ever. On the other hand, Oscar de la Renta’s LAURA KIM and FERNANDO GARCIA created a sensation. First, they released an image of Candice Swanepoel in an embroidered f lower dress that became the house’s most popular Instagram post ever; then, superstar Taylor Swift showed up wearing it to the Grammy Awards a few weeks later. The designers tell us how they managed to create the first major fashion moment of the year!
WINNING LOOK Taylor Swift recently picked up her Album of the Year Grammy for Folklore in the Oscar de la Renta dress.
We love the image of Candice Swanepoel that was released with the rest of the collection. Garcia: We’ve worked with her before. Our approach is to collaborate with people who understand the brand, like us, and have similar personalities to Laura and me. We just connected with her in a lot of different ways. It’s important for that relationship to show through in the images we’re making. What was the concept for the shoot? Garcia: I thought it was important to have something that would balance the joyfulness of the clothes with a sterile background. It allowed for all the focus of the color to permeate. You released your Fall collection a tad later than normal. Garcia: We weren’t totally on time, and because we didn’t have the show, it wasn’t a big deal to move the market appointments that were virtual a couple of weeks. We were happy to do that because we could have a perfectly realized collection and not just throw down the runway whatever arrived on time. There are so many delays given the situation the world is in right now. Kim: The snowstorms froze all the international shipments. The shipments from Italy and China go through Memphis, and they lost power for almost 10 days, so all our packages were stuck there for 10 days. That wouldn’t have been fun if you had a show. Kim: Oh, my God! I would have had a panic attack! You have a fragrance, Alibi, that just came out. What’s the process been like getting your hands into a very different world? Kim: So many meetings! Garcia: We met quarterly to discuss what our vision was for our first fragrance. We wanted to make sure it had enough of us in it. It’s very similar to us and very sexy, which is a bit of a departure for the house in a good way. It’s time to embrace the new side of the Oscar woman. Kim: The world evolves, and Oscar always told us to evolve with it. You dressed Amanda Seyfried for the Golden Globes. It’s been a minute since you were able to do red carpet looks. How did that come about? Garcia: I missed that so much and had so much fun doing that. I love the film industry and follow it. The moment I heard that Amanda was in Mank, I immediately texted [her stylist] Elizabeth Stewart and said, “This is going to be a great ride for her. She’s going to get a lot of nominations. You know who to call when that happens.” I texted Elizabeth the morning she was nominated, and Laura and I
sent sketches 10 minutes later. Amanda is lovely. What’s new with Monse? Garcia: A TV show that’s coming out in May with kids in high school that I won’t name has shown interest in having pieces on the show. That will be major! What else are you up to this spring? Garcia: We have bridal for Oscar coming up, and then maybe a Miami weekend! Kim: I haven’t flown since last March. Garcia: I went to L.A. once to see Meghan Markle for something that’s coming out. It’s been cooking for a bit. She’s a big supporter, so it was worth the trip. My goodness. All this attention that has been going on with her. Did you watch the Oprah interview? Garcia: We were texting. She feels great! I’m proud of her. What’s Meghan like? Garcia: She’s an L.A. girl. She’s super kind, straightforward, and supportive. We love her. Once things get back to “normal,” what are you looking forward to? Garcia: What I miss about the shows is there is a level of pressure on Laura and me to deliver a more stellar collection, because as soon as they are done, you get to have all these peers come to see you backstage, like Edward Enninful and Nina Garcia. You get to see their faces. They’ve seen so much that if you don’t wow them or shock them or impress them, it’s on you. That’s an energy I miss. It pushes us to be even more creative. Hopefully by September we get to do shows again and have that same feeling—the adrenaline rush that we thrive on. You definitely gave us a great moment this season with the embroidered flower dress! Kim: Thank you! Garcia: It’s the power of a great model, a great photographer, and a very pretty dress.

How did the dress come together? Fernando Garcia: We tend to have a show piece, something that’s aesthetically stunning that we understand is probably going to be for marketing purposes or a red carpet moment. But they are buying this dress. The thing is when there’s something that clients fall in love with, there’s very little price resistance. It has to be incredibly beautiful. It’s not like we can do that all the time. We don’t sell $9,000 cocktail dresses every day. Laura Kim: The day the collection images went up, we got a lot of private clients calling in to reserve the dress. Sometimes stores don’t pick up dresses that are that expensive. How was it created? Garcia: We collaborated with [artist] Tricia Paoluccio [of Modern Pressed Flower] on the pressed flowers. During lockdown, we wanted to see if we could work with Tricia on the pressed flowers because the ones we were working with weren’t working. Eventually, we figured out a way to figure out a whole concept, which is perfect for this collection. It’s end-ofsummer vibes timed with the summer arrival of the collection in stores. Kim: Tricia went to her family farm in April [during lockdown] and she pressed all these flowers for three months while there. We tried to press it ourselves, but it was a disaster! We started doing pressed flowers because we wanted it to be memories from the spring. At Oscar, we always do a floral because that’s the DNA of the brand. Taylor Swift also wore the dress to the Grammys! Garcia: When [Swift’s stylist] Joseph Cassell Falconer spoke to us about this moment a while ago, it was clear that we needed to collaborate on something reflective of Taylor’s new mature voice. I told him “Exile” was the only song I’ve been listening to. Music is perennial to any design process, and that song was as much part of this dress as all the work our team did for it.

You’ve had a long history with the Oscar de la Renta brand. I started working with Oscar in 2012. I was booked for his show and later the campaign, then continued working with the brand when Laura [Kim] and Fernando [Garcia] continued as creative directors. It’s always an honor and a dream to be part of his vision; the brand represents pure elegance and strong femininity to me. Did you have a chance to work with Oscar himself? What are your memories of him? Yes, I had the privilege of working with him. I remember going into the fitting for his show and they put me in a cute striped knitted hot pants and crop top. I was nervous to walk for him in such a revealing look, because I knew he respected elegance above all, so I did my most chic catwalk and he loved it. He was a very humble sweet man. Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia are keeping his legacy alive. When did you first meet them? I met them at the casting for the show, and we’ve been working together ever since. When you put on an Oscar de la Renta dress you feel like the most elegant woman in the room. They’ve designed some of the most beautiful dresses I’ve ever worn, not to mention they’re two of the sweetest people in the industry. You summed up the floral Oscar dress you wore very well by writing on Instagram: “If spring were a dress.” What’s the dress like in person? It’s like a piece of art, with each flower embroidered to look real. The amount of work it took to make it makes it even more special to be the one to wear it. What was it like to shoot the collection with Cass Bird? I love working with Cass! We always have fun on set, and the pictures were effortlessly beautiful. When we touched base with you last summer you were loving not traveling. Are you eager to start up again? Yes, I do miss traveling. I’ve so enjoyed this time with my children and slowing down, but I miss Europe and South Africa and Brazil. I guess it makes us appreciate being able to experience so many beautiful places. Where would you like to go? South Africa, Brazil, Costa Rica, or Greece. You’re used to going to a lot of great events. Are there any specific ones you’ve found yourself missing? It’s always incredible to be a part of the Met Ball.
I miss seeing my friends at events and getting dressed up together. Most people have learned a new skill or improved their life somehow over the past year. Did you pick up any new hobbies or skills? I got into home workouts and running, which I never liked before. I also just took up tennis. You have your own line, Tropic of C! It’s going to be swimsuit season soon. What’s new with the brand? So much! I’ve been working nonstop on the brand and added movement, so I’m having a lot of fun dreaming up new designs and new beautiful ways to shoot them. I’m just grateful that we’ve continued to grow and expand, despite the pandemic. You’ve made a point of having the line be ecologically responsible. Why is that so important to you, and do you see a shift in fashion to become more mindful? Yes! When I started it three years ago, I wanted the line to be something I could be proud of from all angles, not just adding to the problem. I want to leave the world a better place, not worse. I feel we need to be an example for our children; everything I do I want them to be proud. What are some of the best sellers of your line? The Praia bikini, which is the perfect everyday bikini, and the South Pacific bikini, which is an elegant, more structured piece. People love the prints and colors as I choose color combinations that you don’t find everywhere. Our movement pieces are also doing well. You’re in incredible shape. How have you been staying active the past year? Zoom workouts at home. I’ve been running on the beach occasionally, which is harder than it looks, and playing with my kids keeps me in shape.
HOW CAN YOU GET THE DRESS OF THE SEASON? The $8,990 Oscar de la Renta dress worn by Candice on our cover is exclusively available for pre-order from Moda Operandi. Enjoy!

This season, it’s time to go bold and bright and embrace a joyous spring/summer palette. MAX MARA’s Renaissanceinspired collection is a nod to its perennially positive muse—a woman who is rebuilding the world to become a better place than it was before. To coincide with this new vision, she’s turning to a wardrobe of modern classics that fuse sophistication and simplicity. Key colors—fuchsia, turquoise, and sunshine yellow—revolve around the saturated hues captured in Louise Dahl-Wof le’s photography for Harper’s Bazaar in the 1930s as seen on versatile shirt dresses, silk blouses, tailored shorts, and styles with laid-back detailing, like drawstring ties and billowing sleeves. JUST FOR MAMA
Mother’s Day is nearly upon us and we don’t know a mom who wouldn’t love a piece of personalized jewelry from her child. HAVERHILL has a line of unique pieces made just for the leading lady in your life. The brand’s founder, Haverhill Leach, tells THE DAILY how you can make mom’s day.
“Although all moms can be placed into a category, we know that most mothers fit into several categories, no matter what their age, size of family, or career. At Haverhill, it’s about what they have in common, as well as what makes them unique. Our jewelry celebrates the woman who honors family, is on the go, works and plays with conviction, and is an advocate for what she values. Mothers are dedicated to all who they love and all that they do. This past year has brought family to the surface of everyone’s lives like never before, due to isolation and separation. Moms have been teachers, caretakers, frontline workers, breadwinners, Zoom connectors, and daily multi-taskers. Our personalized jewelry, worn every day, brings their loved ones together and close at all times. Haverhill celebrates and honors the people in one’s life in a personalized way.” —HAVERHILL LEACH

loved ones or they can just design a flower in the colors they love. I’m excited to get a pair of Birthstone Petal studs with sapphires and yellow gold and diamonds! What’s a unique way to personalize a piece for mom? At Haverhill, we’re expanding options on how a customer can create the unique piece for their mom, stepmom, grandmother, or a special person who filled that role in their life. We have found that faceted birthstones are the most popular way to represent loved ones, but they’re often partnered with our solid gold engraved letters. Create a personalized necklace, bracelet, or earrings as a daily reminder of the ones she loves most in this world. As her family grows, she can add birthstones or letters to signify the newest members of her family. What makes Haverhill unique? I like to think that we create fine jewelry that is beautiful, easy, and accessible, but our customers are the ones who make the pieces meaningful and personal. We do this by allowing customers to design products directly online that are tailored to them, usually with birthstones or initials. We then handmake these designs within one week or less. We use sustainably created gemstones, recycled gold, and our packaging is made from recycled materials and produced locally, here in Rhode Island.
You can celebrate beginnings with the baby’s birthstone in a classic 1 Stone Birthstone necklace that mom can proudly wear as a badge of honor.
Represent those who are most dear with a necklace or bracelet with the initials and birthstones of all of her grandchildren.
A Mama necklace will showcase her greatest role.

We hear you’re busy filling orders for Mother’s Day! Mother’s Day is our second-busiest holiday time. Honoring mothers is universal and Haverhill jewelry is the most personalized and lasting way to say thank you to the women who brought us into the world, nurtured us, and inspire us every day. Why is jewelry such a great gift for mom? Jewelry is generational. The most important and personal items I have from my mother and grandmothers are pieces of their jewelry that they wore. It’s a tangible message of love, beauty, and heritage. Our birthstone collection takes this to a new level. Not only are we offering beautiful jewelry of precious metals and faceted stones, we provide the opportunity to create pieces that bring generations together. A grandmother can wear the birthstones and initials of her family altogether. A new mother can celebrate her baby with a necklace or bracelet. A stepmom can bring together her blended family to display this special unity. Tell us about the upcoming Birthstone Petal Collection. I’m excited about this collection because while it’s classic and fun like my other collections, the Birthstone Petal Collection has more of a feminine touch. Customers can select between one and five “petals” that are actually birthstones that are surrounding a sustainably created diamond. People can choose the birthstones of their

BACK TO THE
FUTURE! With more people getting the COVID vaccine every day, there’s an optimism in the air! Soon we’ll get back to life as we knew it. We asked some of our favorite mods to tell us three things they can’t wait to do in the new roaring twenties!
FRIDA AASEN NADINE LEOPOLD “The first thing I want do is a girls’ trip with all my friends, as they are all over the world now. I also can’t wait to go to a concert and just be around people and dance and feel free. Not being able to just go and see my family for the past year has been so tough, so when everything goes back to normal I can’t wait to spend more time with them again!”

“ 1. Reuniting with my parents, sister, and brother. I haven’t been able to see them as much as I would like because of the pandemic. 2. Go out and dance with my girlfriends. My friends and I love going out dancing and it’s been way too long! 3. Discovering a new destination. There are so many trips that I had in mind in 2020 that I couldn’t do—one in particular was going to be a cabin by the lakes in Northern Norway that we unfortunately had to postpone. We have something cool to look forward to!”
MAYE MUSK
JON KORTAJARENA “I can’t wait to see my grandpas, dance in a club in Ibiza all night long, and go back to the States for a while.”
“1. I have promised 50 countries that I will visit them for book signings of A Woman Makes a Plan. This woman is making a plan. 2. A dinner party by Savour at my new home in NYC with Eddie Roche as a guest. 3. Walk the red carpet for the premiere of the latest Passionflix movie directed by my daughter, Tosca Musk.”

“ 1. I’m so excited and looking forward to international travel when the world goes back to normal! I have been dreaming of roaming the streets of Paris, my favorite city. I also have a few weddings this year that we’re hoping to attend in Italy and Mexico. Can’t wait! 2. I’m dying to go to the NYC ballet. I’m definitely going to take more advantage of the arts when things go back to normal—ballets, Broadway shows, and going to museums. 3. I’m eager to be able to go to sporting events again. I love going to hockey and basketball games at Madison Square Garden!”
“I’m looking forward to getting back to work. It’s been rough to still have expenses without much income. Second is to travel without getting scared to get stuck in some country as the restriction rules are constantly changing. I want to be able to see all the people I love and hug and kiss without being afraid that I might get them in trouble or they might get me in trouble.”

SARA SAMPAIO “Being able to go to the cinema, to be able to travel without restrictions, and being able to see my grandma with no worries.”
GRACE MAHARY “ 1. Go to a Burna Boy concert. 2. Host a wine-tasting evening. 3. Travel to Sub-Saharan Africa.”
JOSÉPHINE LE TUTOUR “ 1. Being able to walk around and travel without wearing a mask! I miss breathing fresh air and seeing people’s faces without being covered. 2. Going on vacation on the other side of the world! I was planning to go to Tahiti last summer, but I had to postpone it. I can’t wait to be able to go on vacation, travel the world, and enjoy it freely! 3. Being able to kiss my grandparents! I haven’t been able to hug or kiss them for more than a year now. Because I live far away from home, I only get to see them during summer and Christmas break. Not being able to be with them has been hard. I can’t wait to be with my family again!”

DEVON WINDSOR “There are so many things that I’m excited for when things are open and normal again! Traveling, seeing my friends who I haven’t seen in over a year, and the normalcy of dayto-day life, like going to dinner, the grocery store, and workout classes.”

“ 1. I would love to see my family! I haven’t been able to go home since before the pandemic. I can’t wait to see them and hug them! My brother and his girlfriend are expanding the family, so I’m looking forward to going home. 2. Not having to be worried all the time. When going to the grocery store or walking the dog in my neighborhood, I’m constantly worried I might make someone sick. I get tested all the time, but it’s still always in the back of my mind. This new kind of anxiety I’ve been experiencing for a year now, I hope it will go away when this virus leaves. 3. Going to yoga, going dancing, going to a crowded bar, basically just being around people!”
“I can’t wait to compete with my horse and start winning prizes. We are a dream team! I’m excited to travel the world and work in another country every day without stressing about papers and COVID tests, like how it used to be. When this is all over, I can’t wait to have a huge celebration in every street in the world. That day should become an international party day!”
JORDAN & ZAC STENMARK “There are many things we would love to do when the world gets back to the new normal, but the first thing that comes to mind is go to a concert. We’re missing live music and seeing some of our friends perform. I’d love to see Shawn Mendes play again. He’s a great friend of ours. It brings great joy to see someone in their element doing their thing. We’re also looking forward to traveling back overseas to New York City. We’re missing our friends over there and can’t believe it’s been a year since we’ve seen them. We’d love to plan a party to celebrate the launch of Dreamers, our new sleep health company. Check us out at @_dreamers! Everyone could party hard and then get a great night’s sleep.”

We met after the world shut down, so a few things I’m excited to do are: 1. Go dancing at a concert or club together for the first time. 2. I recently signed with IMG Models Worldwide, so I’m excited to travel overseas, meet my new agents in person, and work across the pond.”
LAIS RIBEIRO “When things are back to normal, I want to spend more time with my family, travel, and go out dancing. I miss dancing the most!”
ISABELI FONTANA “I can’t wait to go to concerts. I always love to gather with friends and family, and to feel alive. This is the most important thing to me.”

VALENTINE RONTEZ “The first thing I’m going to do when things get back to normal is go to AIRE Ancient Baths for a steam and sauna session. I can feel it already! I also want to take a vacation with my mom since I’ve finally convinced her to get a passport. Then I’d like to go to a Brooklyn Nets basketball game to see Kevin Durant and James Harden play for a championship.”
“I can’t wait to go to concerts with my friends once the world goes back to normal! I miss sporting events and concerts at MSG more than anything. I also think once there’s a stronger sense of normalcy I’ll throw a huge party. Maybe even have a performer! Lastly, travel! I’ve missed going to Europe for work, which I never thought I would say. I used to travel all the time pre-pandemic and totally took it for granted. I’ll never do that again!”

TINA FEY SZA
WHAT DOES FASHION THE DAILY recently hosted a virtual panel in partnership with COTERIE featuring celebrity stylists MAEVE REILLY (Hailey Bieber, Megan Fox), DIANNE GARCIA (Kendrick Lamar, SZA), and CRISTINA EHRLICH (Jane Fonda, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tina Fey.) From what the red carpet will take away from the pandemic to the type of clothes we’ll be wearing when we go back to the office—listen to their pearls of wisdom below!

KENDRICK LAMAR
MAEVE REILLY on adapting during COVID: “I definitely
REILLY on virtual Fashion Week front rows: “I’m rooting
EHRLICH on red carpet shifts: “I think that when we look
spent the beginning [of lockdown] perfectly content doing nothing and absorbing the time and sort of refreshing myself. I remember watching people who were starting businesses and I felt like I wasn’t doing enough. I think I needed the time to recharge and, after a couple of months, I started to get into the groove. I’ve come up with a couple of new businesses that I’ve started and I’m currently working on. Simultaneously, a lot of my clients were working as well. So figuring out how to do that virtually and shooting music videos in quarantine—it was definitely interesting and challenging, but it’s been a great year.”
for in-person events to come back soon. But I do think it’s just incredible what our industry has been able to do and how people have navigated and figured out how to have these virtual shows or presentations or concerts or premieres. I just think it’s incredible how much creativity came into keeping the show rolling. We did a virtual front row with our YSL family, and we shot a beautiful look from the collection that Anthony [Vaccarello] pulled out of the show so that we could shoot it with just two people—everyone COVID-tested and socially distanced at home.” EHRLICH on at-home red carpets: “I found it really fun and exhilarating that the brands I work with were willing to send clothes to L.A. and allow me to create these sort of faux fashion shoots. I did them in clients’ houses, and we did it to mostly connect and be creative. But it’s a fine line because when you’re a stylist and you’re dealing with clothes and then you turn on the news, there’s this real delicate nature of not being tone-deaf and being aware of what’s going on in the world—no matter how much you love fashion. At the end of the day, I want to always be sensitive to the client, the situation, and if they’re dying to play and share their looks, great. If they’re not feeling it, you’ve got to be able to hear that and respect it.” REILLY on comfort dressing and her new venture: “Hailey [Bieber] and I absolutely love to be comfortable, and I love sweats. I actually have a brand launching in a month, so I’m excited about that! I’m looking forward to getting dressed up in the future for sure. But even with someone like Hailey, who’s known for what she wears every single day she’s photographed, I really can’t tell you a time where it’s made sense to get dressed up. It’s still very casual. It’s still very aware of what’s happening right now—and always with a mask.”
back to when Time’s Up and the #MeToo movement started, that was one of the big dominant game changers for red carpet celebrity stylists. And it finally became a conversation where a stylist and her client weren’t talking about how to be sexy or how to dress for what you thought everybody wanted to see. The conversation became oriented from the narrative of dressing for how you want to dress and what makes you feel good. I do this job for my love of women and hearing what they need and to be a tiny part in making their overall thing be the most elevated that they want it. I think that red carpets are going to be very, very different. I think, most importantly, be it that women’s role in Hollywood has changed so strongly, that it’s about individuality and embracing what you feel best in and leaning on your stylist to sort of direct that ship and help you mix it up.”
CRISTINA EHRLICH on dressing clients remotely: “It was a little challenging because I had my office in two cities, and I had a full-time staff of five people and then myself. So my biggest concern when the pandemic hit was how to make sure that my team was taken care of. But I felt like I had to stop and take a moment to look at my business overall and figure out how to navigate and what was going to be the most intelligent way to do it. I will say that it’s been challenging, but I think anybody who does this job for a living knows that it’s challenging and we’re always put in the position to make decisions and stick to it and just keep the party moving. So I’m excited to still be a part of this whole world and see what’s ahead and aware that what we all used to know is in for a radical change.” DIANNE GARCIA on figuring out shoots: “People were doing FaceTime shoots and I was prepping stuff online. We would do a virtual fitting or we would send the looks together with a lot more options to the client’s house directly. So that’s how we started doing things. And then, eventually, things picked up and we would test and be able to do smaller shoots—maybe with 10 people on set—and integrate social distancing.”
GARCIA on trend predictions in the music industry: “I think fashion is going to look like the roaring twenties. I think it’ll keep getting louder and the heels will get higher. When we create something like a music video, we’re creating a surreal world and space where people can look and it’s almost like the sense of escapism. I think [musicians and stylists] are definitely going to flex their imagination and give people something that they can look forward to that, maybe, is an escape from what’s happening in our daily lives.” REILLY on the future of workwear: “I think there are the people who are dying to wear their clothes and put their heels on, and then I think there are other people who want to continue to embrace this sort of casual, comfortable element. Fashion is whimsical; it can make you feel good, and it can shift your mood. It’s the fantasy of it all, and I think that people miss it. But again, I think it’ll be both. I think we’re going to see both ways.”

TAKE OFF
We’re crazy about CR Fashion Book’s stunning spring issue (out now). The aviation-themed edition is another revelation from founder and creative director CARINE ROITFELD, who tells THE DAILY how it took f light. By EDDIE ROCHE
PLANE GREAT Iconic DJ Honey Dijon (above) joined Roitfeld as the magazine’s first special guest editor for a new issue celebrating the fantasies of flight.
like to meet people in person. However, I had to accommodate. We shot in Berlin, Seoul, Los Angeles, and New York while being in Paris, and everyone shared images from set on WhatsApp. We did end up going to sleep very late for some of the shoots. How do you do it? We can tell a Carine shoot without even looking at the credits, regardless of who is the photographer. What’s the magic ingredient list? First, I think that’s the greatest compliment that could ever be given to me. I feel like after all these years, I’ve developed a visual vocabulary and I’m happy that it has eventually translated this well. In my ingredient list, there’s definitely irreverence, a strong focus on body language—fashion shall never be primary. I always ask myself when editing the images: Would I want this as a print in my apartment? Where would AIR CR go right now if you could go anywhere in the world? AIR CR goes anywhere the party’s at. Who are some of the new talents that have inspired you in the past year? I discovered Korean photographer Cho Gi Seok’s work
earlier this year on Instagram. I loved the oneirism and the radicality in his work. We shot together a beauty story in Seoul, and the pictures are fantastic. What have you missed most this past year in fashion? Everyone you get a chance to see twice a year at the [runway] shows. They’re not necessarily your closest friends, but after all these years, you happen to create a special bond. What do you think the comeback of fashion will look like? How do you think people are going to be dressing? I think there’s a major comeback of glamour. In a context of monotony, uncertainty, dullness, I think everyone needs to dream, to be amazed. Everyone has been fully covered, so we want to see skin, beauty. What else is new at CR Fashion Book? Along with the release of the magazine, we launched a series of merchandise—AIR CR T-shirts, which I will be wearing all summer. We’re already working on the next issue of the magazine, but we have a lot of new and exciting projects that I think are paving the way to the future of CR. We have a lot of ideas, now we need to make time to bring them to life.

Travel and aviation play a big part in the issue. Why did you want to celebrate travel during a time when most of us can’t travel? Because I’m a dreamer. I’ve never stayed that long in Paris for the past 10 years. On one hand, it felt relieving, I was given the chance to rediscover my own city and meet a lot of new people I didn’t even know lived here. On the other hand, I started dreaming about all those places I love and am unable to travel to. I wanted to make people dream with this issue because that’s what fashion is about. You worked with Honey Dijon on this issue. How did you meet? Honey’s name has been around in fashion for years, but she had never taken part in a magazine project. I knew Honey was doing soundtracks for Kim Jones’s men shows; she even played at a party we did in Paris. We met there a few years ago. I think Honey’s voice was necessary for this issue; she’s always in between flights, just like I used to be. Honey’s a creative person, she shared a lot of ideas and helped bring another energy to the magazine. What mattered to me was giving her a platform to share her own vision. How did the collaboration work? It has been seamless from end to end. I don’t think there could be a more relevant word than collaboration for our work together on this. She was a ray of light during every meeting that we did over the past months—always positive, full of energy, with a big smile on her face. She is an incredible speaker and always got the right word. She suggested a lot of talents that inspire her, ranging from designers to photographers to models. We also happened to shoot a lot in Berlin, where Honey’s based. Who are some of the models in the issue? I’ll start with Ceval because Honey introduced me to her. She is a transgender girl based in Oslo. We met on set, and her story moved me to the core. We decided to give her an interview within the pages of AIR CR. Also, I want to mention Steinberg, who is my favorite girl of the moment. She is stunning and moves incredibly well. What were the challenges of putting the issue together during the pandemic? We cannot let ourselves be discouraged. It’s the second issue that we produced during the pandemic, and I feel like we learned a lot from our Fall 2020 issue. To be honest, I’m not so much of a Zoom person, and I
