LITTLE MISS STRAWBERRY DAYS 2021 Seven years ago, we announced a new opportunity for young girls in our community, bringing back an old tradition that started in the early years of Strawberry Days. In the beginning, photos of Little Miss Strawberry Days participants were put up around town. The citizens would vote for their favorite contestant with pennies. The criteria for participation have changed a bit since the days of “penny” voting. Today, each contestant must write a one-page essay specific to a theme. The essay must be in the words and language of the participant. This year, 32 contestants turned in essays based on the theme “What Makes Pleasant Grove Feel Like Home?” The contestants were also required to be residents of Pleasant Grove as well as no younger than 9 years old and no older than 11 years old on June 1, 2021. The essays were read and the winners chosen by an independent panel of judges who were looking for originality, creativity and attention to the theme. This year’s winners are Paisley Petersen, daughter of Christopher and Brittani Petersen; Brynlee Contreras, daughter of Matias and Joshalyn Contreras; Zoey Fullen, daughter of Brian and Trisha Fullen; Adalie Hardman, daughter of Josh Hardman
and Adrianne Hardman; and Kenadie Petersen, daughter of Mark and Kelly Petersen. These five girls will serve as the 2021 Little Miss Strawberry Days Royalty and be involved in activities during the week of Strawberry Days.
